I stumbled upon the cages in Nerva quite a while ago, and then months later I got the idea to incorporate them into the back story of my favorite tanker ( whisprr ). She is a Crey Experiment that is rescued by heroes from their clutches. If you log a toon on away from the Crey complex, then move to it, it will spawn full of baddies and poor creatures fill the cages. Then, you can move up to a cage til you bump into it, turn on sprint and move forward again. You will pass thru the wire and be inside the cage, waiting to be rescued!! It makes for a nice moment in the story telling. If anyone has time/will, the AE arc that starts it all is " A whisprr'd plea ". You find out that whisprr is missing, then find out why. You eventually get clues to save her from a mysterious Crey lab ( in Nerva ). Once rescued, you can continue the story by running " The Revenanat Hero Project " until you discover that this version of whisprr is (*SPOILER ALERT) a clone of the original!
Another cool place I discovered is that any SG set up for base raids/the Cathedral of Pain, can visit that map at will. Just 'start' a CoP, even with just one toon, and you can enter that map. Its a mini Shadow Shard of your very own, all from the comforts of home (base).
You could also enter any police station in the game, even the one in Old Atlas Park (and still can in Echo: Galaxy City iirc). This was nice because while the Atlas Park Mayhem/Safeguard used the map, ingame there were not contacts inside the AP station. But you could still go inside, and down the 'vator to the cells too, to play "Hide and Seek" with the new toons fresh from the tutorial.
And I just found something I never knew was there at Circe Island! I was looking for a nice cozy nook to take a screenie of a toon when I found a grotto with a small beach and stone stairs to the top of the island at -2500 9 1202 of Talos Island. Gee, I'm gonna miss this game. -
Just had this idea today on the drive home from work. Call it silly if you wish, but maybe its just one more thing we can all try to do to save our game.
Project X-mas, a Win-Win-Win-Win plan:
The investors of NCsoft should be looking for some postive results as the company moves in to the final quarter of this calendar year. NCsoft is currently sitting on something that as far as anyone can tell they have no interest in every using again, and they have just shoved it into a box in the back of their garage so to speak. This thing does have a value, and possibly a substantial value, to someone if they would consider selling it. If it sold, this could only have a positive effect on NCsoft's financial reports. The shareholders win.
NCsoft is facing a firestorm of bad publicity from several fronts, which is only likely to intensify once December comes along. Social media is ablaze, and e-media everywhere is following and reporting on current events. So, if NCsoft were to release/sell the IP of City of Heroes Freedom as a "Christmas Gift to all those players who have lovingly and loyally followed CoH", it would allow them to both save face by being seen as generous and abate the influx of bad press. NCsoft wins.
City of Heroes was making money. Perhaps not a lot of money, but it was earning more than it was costing. In this economy, making some money sure beats making no money! So anyone that could gain the IP to City of Heroes would be in line for a positive return on their investment, so long as the rights were priced to market value. Additionally, whomever gets the IP would INSTANTLY get a large customer base of PROVEN devoted fans that I am sure would be queueing up at the press conference, waiting to hand anyone their monthly subscription fee! They would gain the adoration and support of a large client base. The new buyer wins.
And finally, if the player base can get to continue playing City of Heroes the day after November 30th, we win!!
So, why don't we send NCsoft Christmas Cards, like a letter to Santa, saying all we want for Christmas is the opportunity to continue to play the game we have come to love so dearly. Or post letters to the facebook page. Or something like that.
If anyone thinks this is another thing we could try, I defer to anyone with more/better organizational skills. Tony-V . . . where are you?? /em binoculars
Just my $.02
We are Heroes . . . this is what we do!
We are Villains . . . whats ours is ours!
We are Praetorians . . . we struggle to save our world! -
. . .
. . . there are just no words . . .
. . . thank you seems so miniscule, but its all I have, so . . .
Thank you. -
Another really neat trick:
Find any chainlink fence, including the Crey pens in their compound on Nerva.
Run right into the fence, and stop.
Turn on Sprint, Ninja Run, or Super Speed (any +Run Speed power).
Then run forward again.
You will pass thru the fence!! Even allows you to enter the cages with the other captives in Nerva!!!
You can also use this trick to get behind the counter of some stores, like the Tech Store in Talos Island.
I use this in some of my bases to allow for 'security areas' to be blocked off by side by side large floor lamps placed just one space apart. If you know the trick, you can pass between them and enter the area they guard. -
Samuraiko . . . your artistry has been epic.
I am sure your final CoH creations will follow in the same tradition. And I am equally sure that when I see them, there will not be enough kleenex in the house.
"I will not say, do not weep, for not all tears are an evil" JRR Tolkien's Gandalf the Grey.
On behalf of all players, I would submit another request that someone with your obvious talent create a zone walkthru of some kind. I've tried but just do not have the expertise. It would be a crime if I could never again walk thru Atlas Park, test out my first jet pack in King's Row, use a movement power for the first time in Steel Canyon, watch my fire dragon take to the starlight skies of Praetoria, journey between the floating Islands of the Shadow Shard on angel's wings, activate Rocket Boots to reach Portal Corps asap!
I for one would be eternally grateful to anyone that could make this dream stay alive, at least on film, once CoH goes dark. -
And my grudingly offered Grats to the Crazy 88s, ebil marketeers of the highest order.
A while ago, I got it into my head to see if I could solo a SG into Virtue's top 100 list. And after a few years, I did it! The Stroll then took on a life of its own, and I got the idea to move up the scale. I burned a full 100 billion back in September 2011 and moved to number 11, one ahead of Unknown Heroes!!
Then, that little ebil voice in my head said "Go on! You can make number one!" So I started to ebil marketeer as an almost full time job. I stayed under the radar by hoarding influence. A lot of influence. Some would say, a Gawd Aweful whopping pile of influence!
As of last Saturday, I was sitting on half a trillion influence, enough to have moved me to number 3! With about 3 more weeks, I could have made number one after all this time. But with the sunset of CoH, and peeps cashing in for the last time, its now hopeless to keep trying. But I know I "could have been a contender!" for the title of Most Prestigious SG.
My Grats!! to those that worked the market to their advantage, it was fun while it lasted!! -

A brief description of your base: What started off as a 'fun thing to do' has become a passion of mine. The base is now my solo SG that took me 3.5 years to complete. Visitors touring the base have often told me I should show it off to the Dev's, and now I just may finally have that chance! *squeee
The base has a core section of what a typical SG needs (Medical, Workshop, Teleporters, etc), but what sets it apart are the perimeter 'themed' areas, like the Lakeshore, the Coliseum, and my fav . . . The PWN Shop!
And of course, then there are the -secret rooms-!! How many will you find? -
Quote:Actually, I all ready have a very nice base! This link is out of date, but it shows the base about 2 years ago. As you can imagine, its had a major face lift by now!!You'd better be going to make one hell of a base with all that prestige.

When/if I get around to it, I'll try to post an updated album on the Base forum soon™. -
Nope, there is no point, and that's what makes it funny.
I did it for the same good reason people climb mountains:
Because its there. -
I finally get to reveal a little project that I have been working on for some time now.
First off, a little background. I have noticed that people ingame have a consistent tendency when using numbers. They will say "This cost 3.5 million", "I have 150 million influence", "We have 40.6 million prestige for our SG", "My dom's build cost 5.1 billion" etc etc. It seems, that when dealing with numbers, people consider only one decimal point significant. Therefore, I can say that ,(rounding DOWN), I am holding 0.1 Trillion influence!!
So, the next question is "Now that I have all of this moola, what exactly does one do with it?"
Then I had a revelation! I noticed one day while checking my SG's ranking on Virtue's Top 100 list that a group of super heroes unknown to me, lead by a person that ever strikes me as being waaaaaaaay to full of himself, is approaching the top ten of the SG list. While the list itself really doesn't have any real significance, it has always been a target for my little solo SG to shoot for. I solo'd into the top 100 on Virtue a while ago (21-Nov-2009) so I thought that this would be a nice use for all that cash! Following the lead of Fulmen's, the Crazy 88's, et al, I BURNED 100 BILLION INFLUENCE in 1 hour, 6 minutes and 40 seconds! There is a screen shot of it too, but I am not permitted to post attachments in the forum
I am pleased to announce that the Stroll, my solo SG, is now sitting pretty (for the moment) as Virtue's #11 SG with a total of 262,560,730 million prestige (my main, Screamrr, is holding 235,122,012 of it) -
ZOMG!!! You could save me a ton of time and help me complete a project that has been months in the making. I am attempting to gain a complete set of Base Salvage on my main toon Screamrr and I am missing only a few more pieces to get her all 2750+/- of them!!
I am looking for 18 Ancestral Weapons, 11 Coral Shards, 19 Fa'Lak amulets, 12 Fish Scales, 8 Headsets, 19 R'yleh's rain, 7 Sparks and 14 Static Charges. If you have any of these (or if ANYONE has any of these), please contact my with a tell to @the skippylabs.
I am willing to pay quite handsomely to complete this collection!! -
Greets! After a mild case of arm twisting, I am tossing in my hat to your RP-Light team. I have a wayward ninja looking for a home on Infinity, and will give this a try!
