I'm glad you didn't go to a public bus route, as that would have been way too obvious.

I don't think Water Melee was on the drawing board, but Synapse/Phil could confirm that.

I do know that there was a new game mechanic that Andy Maurer put into the game that would have allowed the introduction of an oft-requested ability, and Water Armor would have used it.

Well, work got in the way of making much progress today. I basically finished the class functions for storing and retrieving attribute aspects and handling metered attributes (i.e. the first 24).

So instead, I'll just leave this as an example of why I love my job so very very much:

Riddle: is this upgrade completed, or not completed?

I should point out that this series of messages comes up basically all at once, without any human intervention whatsoever. The user isn't doing anything in between those lines of display. I like to call this Schrodinger's upgrade.

Incidentally, that upgrade actually failed.

DO WANT weather blast. That probably would've been a long ways off, though. Not that it matters, now.

But only after you checked; until then it had both succeeded and failed. That tearing sound you heard as you inspected the drive contents was the sound of a parallel universe forking from ours, in which the upgrade succeeded.

Unfortunately for us, that was the universe where the extra hour you got to work on CoX led you to an epiphany that caused you to pick up the phone to T.J. Kim pointing out the fatal legal flaw in the sunset plan which could only be avoided by releasing the source code to a third party.

I rather would have love to see independent Water and Lightning blast sets, with the Lightning set being much different from electric melee by using attacks more like the ones used by the Lightning Storm pet.

I don't know... she is not exactly ugly but... It's like looking at my mother... Maybe if you are in her age range she may look 5 to 7 years younger than the average... but wine? nah.

It may be that for the greater good of City of Heroes, Arcana is just going to have to continue running that upgrade until that parallel universe reality in which that event happens becomes the actual one.

Was CoH also canceled in that parallel universe? If not, maybe we can somehow crack open a gateway between both realities via her command prompt allowing us to migrate to a land where CoH is not at risk!

Even if worst comes to worst and CoH goes dark, NCSoft or whoever owns Water Blast should sell those graphics to another game company or even rent them to GW2. Seriously. I know different games have different graphic engines, but make it work. That is one of the most attractive set of powers I've ever seen in a MMO. Whichever developer(s) designed the SFX deserves a medal.

That one was removed in the last beta patch that went out. I figured it was cancelled since powersets normally don't get removed (and all the other WIP ones were still there), but you would know better than I what the plan was.

I haven't really paid a lot of attention, though I did see her at a Gen Con a while back. But regardless, if I was still interested, it wouldn't really be a "boy crush" these days.

Sooo.. running on top of water.. size changing.. no redraw when using a non-weapon power..?

That's actually (theoretically) doable with existing tech. It involves swapping in a different animation for the in water state. The only caveat is that it has to be tied to a toggle power.

Not necessarily. Kinetic Melee has a ranged attack and a cone already, so with a range increase on Focused Burst to 80' and leave Repulsing Torrent in, increase Burst's radius to 15' to match the other Dominator PBAoEs, and only one power would need to be made to get a ranged t1. Thorny Assault and Earth Assault show a map of how I'd expect the powerset to be laid out, and we don't have a "Spine Blast" or "Earth Blast" powerset.

Yeah, it basically just involves an animation on a "path" (Z-axis?) that's a certain number of ingame feet above the current level for swimming, right? Because every so often when the swimming animation doesn't play, you run at the same level you swim. It'd just be tricky because you'd have to have the game tell when it's entering the water.

I was going to ask if the game could tell when you were in water, but then I remembered this was a discussion about Water Armor and new tech. Soo.. Water Armor gets stronger when you're in water? AKA environmental changes boosting your powers?

BP, since you are here, I MUST ask: Was Clown Summoning, or a Carnival Summoning primary for masterminds ever seriously considered?
