And pretty much everyone already knew about it. But we couldn't really discuss it here because it hadn't officially been announced yet. The info we had was found by hacking data files, which is technically against the rules.
Edit: Yeah, I'm slow. Didn't catch the joke. I have an excuse..... RL distraction lately.

If Masterminds didn't suck, they'd be the most powerful AT in the game.
What is *not* a secret is that Freedom Phalanx Penelope Yin is a psi melee toon and she has these powers.
Player villains have already been at the receiving end of these powers.
Any guess how that gets ported to PCs is open for speculation.

Oh, please, let us have Psionic Nexus!
Fighting Penelope Yin was definitely the highlight of the SSA (the Rulawade fight, and personally executing <person> were the other highlights). When she flung out that lil sphere of doom, the whole battle went to hell for me I immediately knew I wanted that power (though, I doubt it'll come in melee... )

I suspect that it'll be a fairly standard melee set with a specific "gimmick" to it.
yeah, psi damage.
A psionic control powerset would be nice as a different 'psionic' alternative to mind Control.
but I'm pretty certain the psionic nexus is intended to be her Signature Power so it's probably doubtful we'll ever see the big glow ball. it would be a cool pet though (although it's -main- power seems to be cycling a PBAOE heal)
It would fit thematically for a character I have. My worry, however? It'll have the standard low psi damage because supposedly (emphasis on that) so few mobs resists psi. The big problem is the things that do resist psi resist the HELL out of it.

Before the release of Psi Blast for Blasters, so many PVP-oriented players were chanting "Psi, Psi, Psi..." because they wanted to get around the resistances of their player foes. But when it came out and the damage numbers were not awe-inspiring, a lot of those same posters expressed significant disappointment. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking there's a link of some sort, but I always assumed the Devs limited the damage output of Psi so it wouldn't become a monster PVP set.

I don't have any official basis for this, but I always thought psi damage tended to be kept low (most visibly when ported to Blasters) because it was perceived to be poorly resisted by players in PVP.

Now, I don't really recall if this was true when Psi was ported to Blasters (As I don't remember if the port was before or after issue 13), but it is true now.
*Relatively Easily, standard code rant applies, but the mechanism exists and is already in use in PvP zones.

There's also the minor issue of granting global resistances in PvP which plugs the Psi hole for everybody and the ability to split PvP and PvE damages. What made it good for PvP is the delay times on the damage because of varying projectile speeds allowing you to create attacks that all hit the target at the same time for some ridiculous spikes, not the damage type (it came too late for that on Blasters, and Rad/Psi Defenders were already outrageous before it was proliferated).
Corruptors got the relatively higher damage (at least in damage scalar values, if not actual damage numbers) Defender version when it was ported to them, and if I had to guess I'd say that Boost Range's existence is the main reason that Blasters only got an 80' range instead of 100'.
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

I think a melee set with a pet would be a nice change of pace. Would certainly be different.

Positron lets it out that we're getting it 'later this year' in the new mmorpg.com interview:

We can finally talk about it. I mean, that it exists an is a melee set, not that we would know what powers will be/might be/could be in it or anything >>
