Okay, who just paid me 900m for a level 15 fly speed?

Fess up!

On the off chance you'd like a refund, send me a screenshot of your "winning" bid and I'll keep the 1m I was aiming for and email you the rest.

I was going to ask for a refund, but since the character I slotted it with is now flying at eight hundred miles per hour, I think we'll call it even.

No, it wasn't me. At least I hope not.

My guess is that it is someone that wanted to take a screen shot of ebil market manipulation at work.

Congratulations and welcome to the wonderul world of "Holy Sh&%^$%^^ I added too many zeros!"

I have had this happen to me once .. Not as profitably as you but I did get 100 Mil for an item selling for and advertised for 10 Mil. Since it was impossible to locate the poor individual that simply could not stop hitting 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 ... I donated the extra 90 mil to help feed and clothe poor neglected heroes still in those lower levels.. In other words I gave the extra cash to my low level alts.

I'd be willing to bet this happens quite a bit and there are probably quite a few players that are either the poor soul that added a zero to many or the lucky one that collected a TON more than expected for a sale.

This is on my psi/psi blaster who I played for a bit when the set was fresh then totally forgot about until the other night. He was totally unslotted (one of my Respec Binge characters I guess) and I've been slowly re-equipping him over the past few days, which is when I spotted what looked like a steady earning niche for low level fly IOs.

Anyway, I usually turn them off, but he's just been parked at the university making use of /ah + handy crafting stations so I haven't yet.

As much junk as I've sold on the market over the years I'd have expected to get one of these WHOOPS! sales before now. I've had a couple of obvious mistakes over the years, but it's always been pretty low stakes, bidding 1m instead of 1k, or 5m instead of 500k.

This is the first massive screw-up that's come my way.

Assuming the lucky winner doesn't show up here I'll need to do something with the inf...it seems churlish to just pitch it into the Crazy 88's Infcinerator. Maybe I'll toss in another 100m and hold a costume contest with 1b in prizes....

I don't turn them off because I learned from a post by Samuel_Tow that even if they don't display, the invisible window they're in still exists and will annoying come to the fore front and block other things you might have placed in that area.

Oooooohhhhh....... THAT'S why my pop-out power bar on the right edge of the screen sometimes has the bottom half of the powers become unresponsive until I 'wake it up' by activating or moving around one of the top couple powers. Gah - that's a really silly way to have that system function. Invisible windows stealing focus from things you're actually using? Bad UI designer, bad.

Indeed. The first thing I do on a new character is enable the popups, trigger them, move them to real estate I never use, and then disable them.

And yes, this is super, super annoying behavior.

Congrats, this is probably what happened. Like you, I've been on the other end of this often enough to double-check my bids now. Never been on the receiving end of this, though.

Argh! So that's what causes that.

At least I know now.

Of course we have neglected the other aspect of this situation. Okay how many times have you gone to the market and tried to buy a piece of salvage you needed to finish off an enhancement and see something like this:

5/26/2012 500
5/26/2012 500
5/26/2012 50,000
5/26/2012 500
5/25/2012 500

and sure enough as soon as ONE person screws up and seriously overbids and buys an item everyone immediately assumes it wasn't a screw up but a new interest in that salvage and UPS the price? Fortunately do to altitis I have 46 characters on Virtue alone and storage for salvage in all 4 of the SGs I run. I will just start logging on other characters and email myself the salvage before I start playing bidding war games.

I always wondered.

Thanks, now I know what to hate.

Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.

There's a workaround for that. The bad news is, I saw it once, applied it on one character, forgot it and couldn't find it again. It may have had something to do with getting the windows right, saving that setup [?] and applying it to all new characters.

This post isn't 100% useless... you know a fix EXISTS, at least.

I think I have slipped up 3 times in my 4 years of playing. Giving 1,000,000 inf to some happy soul in exchange for a Kinetic Weapon Salvage piece *facepalm*. Or accidentally selling a Purple apoc proc for only 10 million! oops!

More often than not, that is the result of a flipper scooping up all the salvage listed for 1, 10, 11, whatever for 500 and reselling it for 50,000.

Also, when I'm just crafting one recipe, I routinely add 2-3 extra zeroes to the "Current going price" for low-priced salvage, just to make sure I get it, instead of having to cancel and rebid a half dozen times just to find the right price. No screw up there at all. After all, it's common salvage. In 2 minutes, my bid won't even be on the list any more.

Goat: I'm guessing it was the same guy who did this:

Exactly the same thing I do.
1k, 100k, makes no nevermind to me- I just want to get my junk and be on my way. In a world where you log in one day and find 900m in your tray, what's the point of sweating the small stuff. =P

lol Did that just the other day. Something like 500000 for a 500 common salvage. May have done once before...maybe twice...couldn't be more than that!
