What is a "Praetorian Chaser"?

The new paragon market power supposedly uses a "Praetorian Chaser" for Praetorians in place of a Longbow Chaser or Arachnos Flier.
I have never even heard of such a vehicle, let alone seen one, in Praetoria or any Praetorian content I have played(not even BAF or Lambda way back when).

As an aside, Praetoria is rather odd in some ways. Supposedly they have "hovertech engines" for "flying cars" or something, but then all you see for vehicles in the entirety of Praetorian content are normal Primal Earth cars(not so many either) and jetpacks and jetboots.
Shouldn't they have some cool vehicles?

I guess the power wasn't popular enough for anybody to buy and post a picture here, and the Paragon people didn't bother either.

How is it a waste? The vehicle changes automatically when you switch factions which is pretty darn cool. I don't know of any other power in the game whose graphics change when you switch sides.

He wanted to see the Praetorian Chaser. Thus far, there's been no pictures posted of the Praetorian Chaser itself.

That's the problem.

Not even a full 24 hours later, during a big invasion event. Go figure.

1. That is not a or the problem.

2. He was already told it was a recolored Longbow Chaser.

3. The post I quoted had him saying 'the power' and not 'the Praetorian Chaser'. The Praetorian Chaser is not a or the power. It is just a physical manifestation of *the* power for gold siders.

Any problem here is a manufactured one. It's like saying the Devs let us down because when they introduced a new faction, let's say the Talons of Vengeance,' e.g., and they didn't post a picture of every minion, lieutenant, and boss of the faction, so, "I don't know whether I want to play the next Issue."

Most people, if curious what the Praetorian Chaser looked like would politely ask if someone could post of picture of it. The OP in this case made the lack of picture a failure on the part of Paragon Studios.

A manufactured problem.

Concept art was actually drawn up of sleek and awesome cars for Praetoria. But I guess the devs thought it'd be a waste of resources to create new vehicles. Honestly, I wish they'd update the vehicles that drive around now. Make 'em bigger and normal looking. They look awful and apparently only tiny people can drive them.

Quite. All this angst over nothing. Has anyone actually SEEN this supposed "Praetorian Chaser"? All we have to go on from the OP was this nebulous word "supposedly". Why has no one posted a pic of this vehicle yet?

The post when it was announced said this: "Heroic alignments summon a Longbow Chaser and Villainous alignments summon an Arachnos Flyer."

Isn't Resistance a Heroic alignment? Isn't Loyalist a Villainous alignment? I don't see how being from Primal Earth or Praetorian Earth even enters into it.

Since it's free on the Beta Server and only takes a couple of minutes to level to 4, I went and shot one for you:

the praetorian chaser is actually pretty cool, too bad you can only use it if you never leave praetoria

It's just the Longbow Chaser with a different paint job and a couple of different decals. And I checked: it's the same paint job and decals if you're Resistance. It's apparently a Powers Division vehicle, period.

Well, first of all, Longbow and Aranchnos are native to Primal Earth, so their vehicles would be out of place in a Praetorian setting, hence the need for an alternate version in Praetoria.

Secondly, I don't know that I agree with your equating of Resistance with Heroes and Loyalists with Villains--each faction seems to have its own heroic and villainous subfaction. Would you really considers crusaders "heroic?"

Wait! That's just a longbow chaser but recolored!

I was so expecting it to be a giant robot of Queen Elizabeth I. Oh, well.

CoH has been unique in the sea of cloned MMOs.There are years of possibilities still
in such a well designed, well supported and well loved game.Shutting it down now doesn't
make sense on any level except, perhaps, on some spreadsheets bottom line. I do not
consider this an act of a company that has the interests of its customers at heart. This
calls into question why I would want to be part of any further ventures involving NCSoft.

It's a waste because they could have come up with a cool new model unique to Praetoria, not a "stolen and repainted" Longbow model which is likely inferior to Praetorian technology(Praetorians have much cooler armor and weapons and rocket boots/packs as well as missile launcher backpacks).

1) Read original post.
2) Note "what is the Praetorian Chaser".
3) Note answer "recolored longbow chaser" and my response "what a waste then"("that sucks").

4) Maybe the person who said it was just a "recolored longbow chaser" was wrong.
No pictures so I have to take their word for it.

5) You posted pictures of the longbow chaser, not recolored, and you expect me to be satisfied? especially when I already saw those pictures and can see it in game?

I want to see the Praetorian Chaser in pictures since it is at least a new texture, because it is not used at all in game other than this new power that nobody seems to have purchased.

Thanks Brad. I can't go on the Beta server being premium, as I suspect everyone forgets(foments elitist attitude )

I'm unimpressed by it.

First part is true.

Second part is a problem with the game's code. You can see this by trying to talk to a hero player while you chose Loyalist. The game code treats the Loyalist alignment as "villain" or "rogue"(which is essentially villain for the game code as well).

The developers just arbitrarily assigned Loyalists as villains, no matter how good they are or what they do in the story, probably because Emperor Cole is meant to be "the big bad villain" and they're "technically, on his side".

I don't like it either as I always choose Loyalist, because I want peace and to keep the people safe and make Praetoria the utopia it has moved away from, and I like to do the right thing always.
