Do you think an AT that uses vehicles could ever come about?

I know it'd take a crapload of work to do, but do you think it could be possible/awesome? I mean an AT that uses various vehicles for their powers? Drive a small tank/motorcycle/etc. Maybe your powers would add on bits and pieces to the item used. A swarm missile type attack would add on a visible missile rack to the vehicle for example.

On the other hand, that means vehicles could be added to the game for various reasons such as for travel powers, and maybe even things like pilotable mechs. Maybe you'd be able to enter and exit the vehicle, allowing any AT to use it?

I'm picturing a team line up.

Cat Girl, Guy in Black Trenchcoat Black Outfit, Skullface Guy With Spikes, and a giant tank at the end.

Well if it's good enough for comic books then it's good enough for me.

Given there's the new temporary powers tray that works in a personal story, for a temp power to get into Night Ward and for the new Panther Stealth power; pilotable vehicles might be a reality sooner rather than later.

Maybe when the Coming Storm gets here we'll be able to pilot a Vanguard mech or two during the battles.

This reminds me of something from years ago... I don't remember if it was a PC, or a NPC, but someone asked "how the hell did they get those skyskiffs throug the doors?".

How the [censored] did that tank fit through that tiny midget door?

It was every PC who fights the sky skiffs indoors.

I've just started assuming they assemble like giant hunks of lego.

Now now, those Vanguard Heavies get through doors just fine too! They must use molecular restructing or something! :P

Every done a Lambda trial? Ever wonder how those enormous War Walker manage to fit through the tiny doors inside the lab?

What would a vehicle AT bring to gameplay?

If they bothered to make vehicles I would expect them to be their own powers that any character could use, not an AT. Probably a power pool added after power pool customization is possible like:

1 Missile - You use a remote control to have your vehicle fire a missile and strike your target! Ground targetted AoE with low max targets, like 3. 2min timer. (Vehicle not visible if not toggled on, effect just happens 'comes from somewhere else'.)

2 Swarm Missile - You use a remote control to have your vehicle fire a small group of homing missiles that fly to you and orbit you for up to Xseconds until they acquire a target, fly to it, and detonate. (Seekers style attack.) 4min timer. (Vehicle not visible if not toggled on, effect just happens 'comes from somewhere else'.)

3 Ground Vehicle - Choice of ground vehicle in powers customization, move speed increase, jump alteration (Lowered height, unaffected speed so you get the arc you'd expect from a vehicle jump) and can't use your offensive powers (just run your defensive toggles). Can use powers 1 and 2 from this set, and the timers are reduced to 6 and 12 seconds.

4 V-TEC JUST KICKED IN YO - Afterburner type power to cap all travel speeds except jump, and add a Repel aura so you can hit things and send them flying! ^^

5 Flying Vehicle - Choice of air vehicle, see #3, but it flies.

To be fair, that's like asking how the 4 legged rig brought anything to gameplay.

Not like they are making an entire AT that revolves around the 4 legged rig... oh wait, they are. XD

To be fair, we at least see Seers actually teleport people to their positions using mysterious blue lights pretty regularly. We can probably assume that they use the same technology to get the WarWorks into the conveniently-high-ceilinged buildings around Praetoria that have inconveniently-normally-sized-doors.

I want to say that some of the Sky Raider Sky Skiff bosses in police band bank robberies joke about it in the last room.

Y'know, if they just gave all of these large robotic entities a short range teleport, or just a teleport in general, it would assuage a lot of concerns about how they managed to get a War Walker into my cubicle at work.

War Walkers are also programmed to do Circus de Soleil in their off hours.

As for the topic here? Short answer: No.

If this were anything other than a travel power of some sort I would be disappointed. The amount of work required to do anything more than that would be a huge drain on the resources that could be used for content that would be far more interesting in my opinion.

All things considered, even a motorcycle travel power seems like it would be a challenge to implement.

I struggle to imagine vehicles as the actual focus of a powerset. Yes, there are vehicles in superhero comics, but there are extremely limited example of vehicles themselves being someone's super power, unless we talk about the degenerate case of powered armor of some kind.

So, no, I don't really see it.

When people ask for vehicles in this game, I primarily see it as interest in a vehicular travel power or something like that. Not as a powerset.

You could assume that, except you can actually see the War Walkers move through doors 1/4 of their actual height.

Okay then. Explanation #2: WarWorks are like cats, if they can fit their heads through they can fit their whole body afterwards (or get stuck in a comical position trying).
