Game of Thrones ALL BOOK SPOILERS (Up to Dance with Dragons)
So, no one seriously thinks Jon is dead, do they?

Doubtful, the real question is will he become Azhor Azhai reborn or was he just wounded?

No one dies in a cliff-hanger
Heck, even Brienne just spontaneously shows up. Would have liked just a little insight into how she got out of that situation.
Thought for the day:
"Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment."

People who seriously follow that prophecy have made a good case for him. I just know it isn't Stannis.
Another purpose Jon's "death" serves is to free him from his Vows to the Night's Watch. Now he can marry Dany!

I read the book when it came out (natch), but just recently finished listening to the audiobook. I think Jon is dead, but as is the case with several other characters, the condition will be temporary.
I think Melissandre will give him the "Breath Of Fire" a la Beric Dondarrion. And yes, it seems like Jon is being set up to fulfil the Prince Who Was Promised prophecy. What cemented it for me was Jon's dream of defending the Wall with a burning sword.
Also, by dying, Jon has actually fulfilled his duties to the Nights Watch. "Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death."

SPOILER FOR BOOK 6
Yeah, Stannis is definitely not the prophecy BUT after reading his chapter from book 6 I kind of see that maybe Martin has much more in store for Stannis and it was the first time I've seen him truely written as 'kingly'. It's a great chapter if you haven't read it, btw.

GRRM has trained me through the series so far not to take anything for granted and if speculation is too rampant he may just change things up on principle.
That's easy... she said "Arya!", and she was cut down. That's all Lady Stoneheart cares about anymore... that and vengeance.

Anyway. No, Jon isn't dead 'till the book states so specifically. Though getting stabbed repeatedly by his own men isn't a really good start to a long and healthy life. I'm curious how he can possibly get out of that one.
But for the final-chapter cliff-hangers, my absolute favourite was the murder of Kevan Lannister. I loved how Varys reveals they want Cersei back in power because she's so terrible at her job. In your face Cersei!

Fire does not kill Targaryens.
Ice (Winter) does not kill Starks. (Benjen, for example)
Truly, a song of Ice and Fire at the conclusion of things it would seem.
He understands nobles as he's seen it from their perspective.
He understands the watch as he's seen it from their perspective.
He understands the wildlings as he's seen it from their perspective.
I suspect Jon will be seeing things from the white walkers side of the situation soon, after all, he's seen it from everyone else's side already, right?
So maybe he is dead.
Then again, all the Stark kids are idiots (Bran is a scumbag, not an idiot), with the exception of Arya, and deserve what they get.

And Bran a scumbag? Brown Ben Plumm is a scumbag. Holster Frey is a scumbag. Bran? Bran is a little boy that's apparently being set up to become a tree.

Stoneheart offered Brienne a choice: her sword or a rope. The sword was for finding and killing Jaime Lannister. Brienne refused to choose, but I suspect her word was "Sword!", meaning she would agree to kill Lannister.

It's almost a little too easy, given the characters involved. But maybe!
