YES! And the King's Hand shall be HODOR!

Shaggydog will be the Captain of the Kingsguard.

Wow, this could actually work...

Pretty much every character, good, bad, or indifferent, has a tough time. Think of all the people who married for politics as well, and their fates aren't much different.

It's almost a little too easy, given the characters involved. But maybe!
If it were just her, I'd agree. Martin made it a point though to show Brienne looking at Pod Payne getting strung up. Pragmatically, Pod is a lot more innocent than Jaime.

Another very good point!

Let me just say how happy I am to see this thread finally made! Love the discussions.

And also let me say how confused I am that somebody thinks Bran is a scumbag. How can a ten year old be a scumbag? Anxiously waiting for this explanation. Should be fodder for a juicy bit of debate.

The horn was sacrificed to Cthulhu. I mean R'hllor. It was also supposedly fake.

Actually it wasn't the real horn according to Tormund Giantsbane. The "real one" is currently with Sam at the Citadel.

Really? I think I completely missed that part. Didn't Tormund claim that they never actually found the real horn?

I dunno, but that Wall's coming down sometime.

If I remember correctly he was only referring to the one used at the sacrifice that Mance found. I believe only a few know about the one Sam has (which is the one Jon found with the dragonglass). Whether or not its actually the real one is still up for debate. I'm doubtful.

Subject: Victarion

Where do you see him in the grand scheme of things? Is he an important player, destined for some greatness? Will he eventually claim the Seastone Chair? Is he a big ole red herring soon to die a horrible death? Is he actually going to sweep Dany off her feet?

I find him an interesting character, but find it hard to picture where his thread is going. On one hand he's as sympathetic a character that an ironborn can be, but his over confidence makes me wonder if he isn't going to die horribly. Possible from a dragon.

Thoughts?

It's the real one I dunno how I feel about the wall coming down ... eh

Fire horn approaching Danny and Ice horn -was- with Jon >_>

So Coldhands! Think he is B. Stark? At least what is left of him... -- or did I miss that memo

The only problem with that theory (which is probably the strongest) is that the children of the forest tell Bran "They killed him long ago" referring to Coldhands. In the scheme of things Benjen hasn't been gone very long.

Good question. I expect him to almost manage to overthrow Euron, but failing miserably in the end. But I'm biased, I think Euron is fantastic as the evil pirate archetype.

I think his quest will come to an unfortunate end... however I do believe he'll be a mega catalyst to exiting the eastern world to some extent.

I really like his character and he's definitely a better fit than his brother, also depends on which direction Danny goes too I suppose.

Victarion is destined for greatness in the same way Quentyn Martell was...

Dany does like the badboys. She has a certain weakness for them. Then I think she'll take one look at how the Ironborn treat women and likely roast him where he's standing. Then take his ships to Westeros.

haha yeah I don't think the woman situation will go over very well with her... Though I mean she has to meet him first!

Yeah, my post was half joke/half theory. I do think he's the key to Dany getting a fleet out of Essos. Whether or not he's alive when it happens is up to him. I just don't see a bright future for the poor guy.

I'm not sure how he treats Hoder can be described as anything short of despicable, Jaime should have pushed with a blade first before dumping the body out the window.

He followed his heart selfishly instead of leading his people responsibly. The one lesson he should have learned growing up should have been the fact that a Lord lives for his people, not for himself, got what was coming to him.

Very interesting. I'm going to have to stew on that a bit.

Ahh, the Ironborn, my favorite faction, brutal, unapologetic, and totally true to who they are. (Note how the folks who fail to be true to who they are tend to meet with misery?)

Victarion will be transporting Daenerys to Westeros to save her cousin. I suspect he is going to turn on his brother, who basically sent him on a suicide mission. Now that he realizes this he will throw his lot in with the Targaryens, providing them some of the naval power they'll need to secure their claims in Westeros.

I can't disagree, but I think you're asking for a lot of moral sophistication in a child raised as a noble in a medieval society. Add to that the fact that he's just discovering his powers, and he's used to using them on animals...

He's made mistakes certainly, but I'd cut him some slack.
