So lets talk about redside teaming.
This is absolutely true. Praetoria is my favorite place to start hands-down. The story there is absolutely incredible.
I just took a new praetorian all the way through the loyalist responsibility story arc over the weekend. I still think the stories in Praetoria are superior to the 1-20 experience anywhere else. And I guess they nerfed the difficult mobs, but kept the increased xp, because I was having a breeze. Now I'm cruising through First Ward, still a loyalist. Hurray!
I just wish there was a way you could unlock your second costume slot. |
So its solo or very small team only.
Boycott Ncsoft if they close down Coh.
I don't find Redside difficult I just find it boring fighting Arachnos or Longbow again and again. Plus if you solo you pretty much do the same arcs.
Blue side after level 15 you get so much different stuff to do until around 30.
I also don't get the obsession with reaching the level cap as fast as possible...
I also don't understand the fact that you seem to want to do co-op zone stuff above all else, you are then doing the same content regardless of whether you are red or blue. You may as be a rogue, then you can get the best of both worlds anyway, solo on redside and flip to blueside to run TFs or teams or whatever.

Ice 'Em Aura LVL 50 Ice Tank
Darq Widow Fortune LVL 50 Fortunata (200% rech/Night Widow 192.5% rech)--thanks issue 19!
On some servers there are literally ZERO to 1-2 other people in Praetoria at most times of the day now.

Just too bad all those public quests go unused.

Yeah but the place got a bad rap, and now no one starts there even though it actually isnt as bad anymore.

But Praetoria? Forget about it. I dont even bother. Way too hard. I even had issues on some brutes and scrappers depending on type. If they made it to where Praetoria was the only place anyone could ever make a new character again, I would have to stop playing CoH.
So I am just curious about what massive, broad and deep sweeping nerfs were made to Praetotia. Because I will never go there again based on my last experiences there.

I turn all my toons into rogues or vigilantes so I go where the team is when something is announced. I normally jump on it when I see something redside just for the novelty of it. I spent a couple of years playing CoV before I ever went blueside, so it's always like going home for me.

What did they change? I find redside not only annoying, but hard. Well too hard for my carebear "I got mezzed" ragequit sensibilities. When I solo redside, I just streetsweep or do newspaper missions avoiding foe types that give me trouble.

Dib was especially fun, lauched with 6 after being unable to find 2 more. lost 1 to a disco, second to RL problem, couldnt kill shivans, called it.
Ice mistral, only could get 5, no support, called TF because .. its just not gonna happen. Did not launch.
Dont like failed launches and Failed TF's, it tends to give you a bad reputation making it harder to lauch others later, so I no longer start Redside TF's, I only start blues and coops now.

/sea for people who are LF Any or LF Strike Force. Send a /tell to all of them by clicking on each one and saying /send $target, Starting a team to run (strike force name), (level range) in (zone), care to join?
If I don't get 8, send a similar message to Virtue United, Virtue TFs, and Virtue LFG Beta, the three teaming channels I'm on.
If it's anywhere near peak hours, I can find a full team of 8 any time I want one on redside. I just have to ask for them. Because, for whatever reason, Megajoule is right: redside, at least on Virtue, is full of villains who are desperate to have somebody else do the recruiting. Learn to recruit, and you'll never be without a team again.
Unless you're playing on one of the ghost town servers, then I can't help you.
i have a base ive built over the years villainside so everything ive built is a villain / rogue but i really like to start in prae its my proving ground (100k prestige is a bonus)and i find it easy
its also (in my eyes)the new galaxy its quiet...peaceful on champion not dead.... but quiet
i think villainside gets a bad rep cause everyone says
which sides best
"everyones blueside"
most new people to the game dont know bout the /whoall commands etc so they base there observation on who they see but dont look up
then ask in help which sides best
villainsides bout as evil as...well its not cause all you do is replace rescue with kidnap
and recover with steal so you might as well be heroside
the who will die arc is so far the only story that made me feel like a villain for 2 missions fore it went back to hey you saved the world have a SO
*surpresses co-op rant*
tl;dr
if you shout in help villainside level x anyone with a pulse welcome... youll get a team and unlike heroside they'll know before 30 how to slot enhancements and how to get to your zone
Looks like we've settled the dispute, then! The moral of the story is: redside teaming is fine. No, we don't need more co-op zones. No, blueside teams aren't better/easier. You want a team, then stop sucking your thumb and invite some people.

I've also seen other redsiders trying to find a group for DfB not finding anyone - not too surprising when there's only three others players on Mercy.
Meanwhile, the toons I play on blueside, I never have to make a team if I don't feel like it. There definitly is a notciable difference in my experience over the last several months.

I form teams all the time on redside and like you I have very few issues if any getting up a team. Unsurprisingly, many people want teams but few people want to be bothered to actually form and manage a team. I line up some Tips or a story arc and once I have some missions lined up I begin to form a team and we run my missions unless someone on the team asks to run theirs. Not only does it work very well, but I often get people sending me tells asking when I'll be on again forming more teams whenever I get into a particularly active period (real-life work necessitates that I go through periods of high and low activity in-game).

I've never had a problem teaming on redside. Seems there's almost always something forming in a global channel. If there isn't something forming, or if I'm not interested in what is forming, I form my own team for SFs or newspaper missions or whatever.
The player willing to form their own team will never go teamless. The player unwilling to form their own team deserves to go teamless. No player is owed a team, and if a player is unwilling to form one, that player doesn't get to whine about not having one.
