Here's something I'm surprised no one has asked:

Is the Hybrid slot going to offer another level shift?

Pretty sure that was asked at least once, they were only taking questions about the new trial though (besides answering a stupid question about supergroup prestige for some reason).

My suspicion is no, though.

Yeah, no mention of it so far, and Devs have said they don't want to just keep handing out shifts with every slot.

.. Though, that still doesn't really explain how they intend to handle the rising levels in trials since we've effectively hit 'the cap' as far as how high enemies can be in relation to us.

Well, in the new trial, Black Swan can drain players of their Incarnate powers, and presumably of their level shifts. So that's one way of dealing with it.

yeah but that would quickly become a very cheap gimmick. And that's only for the 1 phase of the trial. It would get very tired and very repetitive very quickly if they keep coming up with ways of turning off our powers.

Then again they already introduced the 'orestes' field in DA. Might set it up so that we could keep the powers but nullified the level shifts. Sort of like an incarnate exemplaring.

Another shift at this point would make the current Incarnate content a total joke. I mean I love the idea of more power, but the only one my KM/Ela scrapper even finds annoying is UG and the confuse at the end. If I had another shift the confuse would be annoying, but the rest of the trial would be a breez.

Street hunting in DA would be like street hunting in PI. As in not very challenging.

So, as much as I want more power, I want the game to require me to need that more power first.

Not presumably. The livestream showed Black Swan's minions switching con colors from yellow to purple and back when the player was hit with it. That's a 3 level shift right there.

The livestream also had Tyrant at 54+5. If Hybrid doesnt give us a shift, I really hope Genesis does before the next trial cranks it higher.

I'm interested to see any possible connections between Tyrant calling on the power of Tartarus and the dead, and the description of Night Ward as being half in the world of the living, and half in the world of the dead, and that it's an "eternal prison" - like it could be connected to Tartarus in the underworld in Greek mythology where the Titans were imprisoned by Zeus - so if there was an avatar of Zeus hanging around with it's Well buddy, a free Titans might hold a grudge against it, and want to find a way of freeing his people.

It's going to have to. 54+5 means +3s are going to be fighting +6 enemies. The game doesn't support that kind of level difference because of the purple patch.

Did anyone get pics of the new costume sets? That is what excites me the most.

I am not too impressed with a trial that sounds really dull. Not into yet another zone. I can't get jacked up for another arc which is, essentially, new skins and words on the same old mission maps; the same old style. Yeah. Not too exciting.

I22 was kinda dull but I like the new costume pieces. It's nice they're selling new powers but so what? Create a new toon and do the same stuff again? Um yeah. The trials are a nice change of pace but it is time to add a new twist.

All players will only be 15% as effective at +3, and 4% as effective at +0. It is doable, albeit very hard. The trial will have to be built around the fact that players will only be this effective, but if it is done so then I can't wait for it.

I like tough fights. I want the brawl with Tyrant to feel like an all-or-nothing end of the world no-holds bar battle against a foe that is vastly superior to me in nearly every way.

I like things to be challenging as well. However I don't think that overtuning the trial via level shifts to make the players nearly ineffective against the enemies within the trial is the right way to go about it.

Strong enemies that hit hard and have defensive capabilities along with bosses that make the player think via special mechanics. That's all it takes to make a good trial, and none of that requires reducing the player to 15% effectiveness.

Try doing an apex or tin mage without your alpha slotted (which is an 8 level difference). An Aim/BU'd blaster using total focus does about 15 dmg. You're NOT meant to fight like that, it's not possible, I do not consider that to be supported by the game. Because of the purple patch there is a limit to where you can effectively fight higher level enemies, realistically, that's at +4, +5 tops.

No... I meant the game supports +8 level shifts for players...

And I was talking about the level difference between player and enemy.

Since the standard content takes place in Night Ward, another magical realm, it will more than likely be where we take out Black Swan and Infernal. The trial is a whole separate piece of lore.

It very well could be that last one. If there is another way to access the cached pages on google besides their search engine, I'd love to hear how, it'd be useful beyond this one thing.

Edit: Hooray for search operators. Figured it out myself.
Google also has a cached thumbnail, though not the entire page. It is barely legible but there are no screenshots listed for anything and the information is pretty much what you've read here in the forum.

If Tyrant can fiddle about with the dead, Maybe we'll be up against him, Statesman, Sister P, Antimatter, Diabolique, Bobcat, Nuron, Malaise, Maelstrom all all the other things that we've killed...sorry 'arrested', during this whole arc.

We've already seen the anti-Tyrant iTrial. It features Chimera and Black Swan and Pendragon (Praetorian Hero 1). Also, the leaked I23 info says that Shadowhunter (like Woodsman, his Primal counterpart, now a ghost) will be part of the new zone content of Night Ward.

That only leaves Infernal as the only Praetorian Phalanxer/Vindicator unaccounted for.

But, of course, there may still be Praetorian versions of other big name NPCs to face such as the Praetorian versions of the Vanguard contacts of RWZ.

Also, not all the Praetorian Phalanxers/Vindicators have been killed. Battle Maiden was truly 'arrested' and was freed by Malta. While Mother and Diabolique are dead dead, we don't know if anyone else was killed or arrested. We can supposed that Nightstar is powered off, but Siege is known to jump from body to body... so he might actually be fine and free. The rest could simply be in custody.

And Dominatrix is actually leading the Trial against Tyrant (but not for redemption... she's aligning herself with what is likely to be the winning side...she is the prototypical 'redside' villain who co-ops for self-preservation).

No, that wouldn't make people ragequit when they stumbled in there by accident and a bunch of jacktards won't let them leave. Most PvPers I have ever encountered would NOT respect a "Hey, I didn't mean to come in here, can you please stop attacking me so I can leave the zone?" New players in particular would fall victim to this quite a bit, and they won't have IOs or expertly constructed builds. So if they were on a server like Freedom where people still PvP regularly, they might end up with a character that is doomed to spend the rest of its existence as a punching bag for people who refuse to allow them to leave, while being almost completely unable to defend themselves.

That is almost as bad of an idea as open world PvP that people have no choice but to participate in.

//edit// Growl! You changed the post I was replying too! Growl! //edit//

(In reference to not having fought Infernal in the trials yet)

I was just going to post something to that extent.

According to Paragon Wiki, Infernal's description says he's from an alternate earth to begin with.

However, during Maria's arc you do come across a Praetorian version of him... so... who knows?

IIRC Infernal is from another dimension and eventually made his way to earth. Praetorian Infernal is from a different alternate dimension, and ended up traveling to Praetoria in a similar manner.
