Well if any recall i made a "Grave news" thread a while back, but today i bare good news.
A Question or two later on in the post.


Me and my Mother have bought a 2 story house with 2.5 Acre of land that's right next to some land already owned by my Grandma. For about 32K.
We got Family living next door there that can help us out. Only down side is during the moving process i will have limited access to the forums via my Phone.

Here's hoping that everything goes smoothly and we get fully moved in by next week or so. Why is it so fast for us to move, you ask? Simple we are barely moving 6 Miles! Just going form Renting a place to owning some land.

Now for the Questions.

Q1: Is there a "Best" ISP for gaming.(PC/PS3/X360) That won't need a phone line(mom dose not want one.) but is stable during a weak storm(Rain, not risking a lighting). (If need be we can talk about this in PMs if the forums do not allow talk of this).

Q2: How dose one choose a color for there room. I'm trying to think what i want and how to do it but can't narrow it down it seems. Form a basic color for all or going a little art like and doing some "tricks"(like waves or clouds, etc).

If you can't get cable internet where you live the government right now is heavily subsidizing the rollout of satellite internet. The government pays for all the equipment and the install, you just have to sign a contract.

I don't find satellite internet to be awesome, but if DSL (which doesn't require a phone) and Cable aren't available then Satellite is alright.

Yeah, is Cable an option? I found that to be the best myself.

How well is "HughesNet"? My mom is thinking of going with that but form my memory satellite internet is easily "hurt" by the simplest of rain storms. (We lose DishNetwork a bit when a rain storms hit.)

if you can get Roadrunner from TWC, I'd recommend that.

Be careful with satellite internet as they tend to cap your download amount per month...read the fine print carefully. I live in the desert of New Mexico but luckily we have a cable company that provides service. I have some coworkers who play online games (you know that big one with dwarves etc) and they have had horrible experience with satellite internet and their MMOs (lag etc).

If at all possible I would go with cable internet if you can

Satellite internet is really terrible, especially for gaming.

When I was in the most rural of areas myself, I ended up signing up for a mobile hotspot device through my cell phone provider - because it was faster and better than the satellite.

Being back on cable internet is very much nicer.

Edit: I can't comment as to storms, though - that's not a concern over here.

I might suggest looking to see if you have a Wireless DSL service available. While it is still DSL speed, you can get solid signal reliability in the worst weather. It's more stable than satellite. I've played through storms that screwed up our Dish Network reception.
I should know, I have it where I live (Out in the middle of BFE IL...). Though I don't believe we have the top of the line package, I can play City w/minimal rubberbanding and can deal with laggy video Streaming. It's better than nothing.

Z's right. From what I've heard, Verizon's FiOS wins, hands down. I also respect them for pouring such a massive investment--billions--into their infrastructure with so many companies were looking for ways to gouge their customers and avoid spending any money in the process. Now, all of the telcos and cable companies are struggling under the burden of very old equipment that cannot adequately handle the bandwidth being forced upon them; meanwhile, Verizon is set for the foreseeable future, at least until ultra high speed wireless connectivity is almost universally available. (Which, incidentally, is another area in which Verizon has a clear lead.)

But, it seems like FiOS is out of the question for you. I feel your pain. Being in Atlanta, apparently Verizon has basically said they'll never deploy FiOS here.

So as a second choice, if you have Comcast, I've always been happy with them here in Atlanta. I've always gotten very good speeds from them, I've never run into any bandwidth caps or anything even though I watch a fair amount of video, and in the four or five years I've had it, it's only gone out on me maybe two or three times, and not for very long when it did. My only big complaint with them is their billing department, which screwed up my auto-pay setup at least twice, causing me to get cut off because they thought I wasn't paying my bill.

Can't really speak regarding other cable companies, I've never had anyone else but Comcast. I will say, however, that every time I have done business with AT&T for anything--cable, land line, cell phone, DSL, long-distance service--they have managed to screw me over and provide subpar service. I am currently (thankfully!) completely AT&T-free, thanks to viable options finally coming down the pipeline, and over the years, I've only used them when there was literally no other option open to me. Your mileage may vary, but I'm telling you that there are very few companies that I absolutely loathe, and AT&T is one of them. Avoid them like the plague.

I live in North Carolina (North-Eastern area) and I have TWC's Roadrunner. Customer service over the phone/internet is utter garbage (speaking from experience) but all of their service technicians that have come out have been knowledgeable and very helpful. If the price is within your budget I'd go with them as the signal is pretty reliable most of the time.
