So is staff melee out tomorrow?

It's actually because of the Freemiums.

Each pet you have out is the same server load as a player, hence them limiting you to one when Freedom came out.

What's that? They haven't? Ahh, of course.
Just to point out: Beam Rifle launched with Freedom, and I believe Street Justice was three weeks behind it. So that's less than a month.

But I am just pointing that out. As far as I'm concerned, your point still stands: for them to release the more highly anticipated Staff Fighting only 2 wees after Beast Mastery was highly unlikely.

@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.

We are only getting more stuff if we pay more.

People are actually complaining about wanting to buy something but them not making it available yet.

The vanity pets feel like its a 'oh we need to release something every Tuesday because we said we would' type thing.

You see I can't see why it is unlikely.

Not everyone plays a Mastermind, heck for some Freemiums they don't even have the AT.

However everyone has access to Melee AT's even if they don't play them.

That's literally exactly what it is. It doesn't just feel like that. They said they'd have a release every week, they're going to have a release every week. Until they hire an additional hundred people to design something amazing every week, some of those releases are going to be a lot less cool than others.

It is subjective when they're releasing content that adds little to no depth into the game rather than something that'll keep people around and active for a month or even several months. But instead we're getting bombarded with these vanity items. They ARE nice but the developers seem to be a bit too proud of them.

So yes, there is an issue of quality over quantity here.

See people think I'm being a spoiled brat when there's new content every week, and I may be one, but I've even said before I don't care if there isn't something new that week if it means actual work is going towards the prime gameplay elements.

Except that Masterminds are the AT with the least number of primary options. Melee has already gotten Street Justice and Titan Weapons.

Also Shadow, we're talking about a delay of a week or two. Its not that big of a deal. Just have a little more patience and you'll get your staff fighting.

Anyone can come in here and make whatever comment they want too no doubt. My posts have been a general appeal to the players not to turn on each other for once.

Like I said no need to call for heads(you can if you want), no need to argument bait(you can if you want), I just asked people to please respect each other and allow the feedback to flow without personal arguments taking over feedback is all.

Now to return you to whatever ends up happening in the thread. CHeers.

People seem to have forgotten the likely elephant in the room - the game's 8th anniversary is coming up in a few weeks. My guess is that they are saving Staff Fighting for a release in another week or two to better correspond to the big "celebration" they are going to have for that.

P.S. Not I'm not implying they should give us elephant vanity pets either.

I could see this being a problem in a year or two from now, when some people might have 10 or more vanity pets. Besides the server load, it could severely clutter common areas like Wentworths or around a trainer.

I really wish that:

(1) The Veteran buff pets were on a different toggle from the non-combat pets.
(2) There was a separate UI for pets so they didn't clutter your temp powers.

Hey Paragon, I heard you need a UI designer/programmer for your "Next Gen MMO". Is there a position open for one for COH as well?

If it were confirmed it were say at the end of April I may be able to.
Lol yeah I've had about 3 50s this year which is 2x as many as I had last year and it's only like a third into this year. But maybe it's because I tend to pick up characters I stopped playing to lvl up a linked character. I tend to do that, get them into the 30s then roll up their 'side-kick' character from their bio then their nemesis and teacher...then go back and level the original.

But yeah, I still have my lvl 36 StJ/Inv Brute since that's the same girl who also uses a staff. Basically, I got time

But understandable that others are antsy. I was antsy for Titan Weapons (and angry at Titan Weapons at the same time, which was kind of weird).

Pffff. My hypocrite levels are rising in that I would gladly buy a tiny elephant.

Actually totally forgot about the anniversary. That's a good point.

The quality of the stuff they're releasing, IMO, is at least as high as it has been at any point in the game's life that I can recall. And they're also releasing more of it. Even totally ignoring every item that hasn't particularly interested me - such as these vanity pets, the costume packs I didn't much care for, the power sets I wasn't interested in - we're getting more and better stuff now than we ever did before.

So, more quantity AND more quality vs less of either? Yes, please.

Better communication might be nice, though.

The counter-intuition behind this state of affairs is almost mind-boggling.
Things we must buy to get we don't actually get unless we buy them so while the studio has released many things since Freedom, ones I have no interest in and have nor purchased really won't matter to me.

So it's not entirely counter-intuitive as Freedom has brought another layer of the process to our thinking.

And of course ironically enough I'd probably pay like 2000 Paragon points for a kitten vanity pet as cute as that.

I really was hoping for the Panther travel power as well as Staff Melee. Like others another week I get to save points.

Well, Mark it Zero, my Walter Sobchak homage has the German Shepherd pet (no Pomeranians...) and references it to the movie's quips while waiting for trials and missions to load. None of my characters can use a lion or liger though.

To me it would seem odd to celebrate the 8th anniversary by selling a powerset in coordination with it. So unless they are going to give out staff fighting to all VIPs on the anniversary, withholding it until then seems odd to me.

"It's out anniversary and to celebrate you get to buy stuff!" just seems a bit lame of a theme.

Lol while I'm sure the guys at the studio are crying their eyes out about how displeased you are (no, they're not really), you don't have to be complete wet blankets about it.

If you want to play staff so bad, can't you do that on beta right now?
Personally I have no alts that I want to level currently. The two 50's that I want to get Incarnated out have tier 4 abilities in all of their slots. I have enough inf to buy whatever build I need for any character so no need to try and earn that.

I'm looking forward to playing a Staff Melee alt, but as it's not released there seems to be very little reason for me to pay for the game for the upcoming weeks when I can either go Premium and log in occasionally or play another game that has recently issued a new content pack that I haven't played through yet. It's a simple fact that I would currently be wasting my money by subbing to the game.

As regards the recent sets released, not bought Beast Mastery , zero interest in Masterminds. Not levelled a dark troller/dominator as I have no interest in those powersets.

I am not angry and I do not believe the devs are engaging in anything malicious. I do understand the reasoning behind using the four leg model so much; it is shiny and new and it reportedly took a lot of resources to make. Let's hope that as time passes the shiny wears off and people in charge of these things stop thinking of terms of "gotta recoup that cost RIGHT NAO" so we can get back to other themes and not have people rolling their eyes at yet another badly skinned and poorly scaled quadruped.

You know, I would pay good money for a COMBAT pet similar to the german shepherd. Even if it was like -3 to my effective level, it would be pretty cool to have Rufus out there chewing up runners.

Riot did that and got the piss taken out of them severly.

I'm hoping Paragon aren't that thick.

Edit:

I have my doubts about Marketing though.

I mean how hard can it be to put a calendar on the website, even Cryptic maanged that?

Issue 21's headstart launched on September 13, 2011... and Street Justice was open for purchase on October 4, 2011. So, yes, that isn't a full month, but it's darn close.

Truly though, thanks for pointing that out, when I originally checked the Wiki I was looking at the BETA release for i21, which was significantly before it's actual release... So, they are a bit closer than I thought.
