FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

Should have been section 4.1.12.

There are a number of flaws with the Cosplay Policy. First, cosplay can be expensive, and not everyone can afford good costumes. Secondly, this is particularly punitive for people who have a large number of alts, and you don't even want to think about alt-hopping to check for a particular enhancement; if you thought the 30 second logout timer was long, having to completely change before logging in is ridiculous.

Furthermore, the cosplay policy unfairly penalizes some character concepts more than others. "Guy in trenchcoat with two guns" is easy, "giant robotic exoskeleton" is... not easy. A lot of people have a lot of time and effort invested in characters that are very difficult to pull off, and at least one GM wasn't even letting people go to the tailor or a trainer to pick a new costume!

The fact is, I think a lot of us have been playing CoH in our normal clothes all along, and I think the game was plenty fun; I am not at all convinced that I needed extra help getting into the spirit of the game, and really, when it's implemented as pushy enforcement like this, it's mostly just intrusive. It doesn't create immersion, it just creates resentment.

Frankly, if the cosplay policy isn't dropped, I think a lot of people will stop playing CoH entirely. At the very least, I think GMs need to be a lot more forgiving of amateur-level costume efforts.

The annoyance of having this pop up is understandable. However, I can let you in on a little secret - it's easy... well, for some of us... to get an exception placed onto our accounts.

How?

How can I put this... While some of my characters may look good like this:

I, most assuredly, do not. They call it the OGME exception. They may ask you to send in the (deactivated) webcam as proof first, though.

Cosplay? This isn't Cosplay! I actually AM a 6 foot tall blue furred rabbit! Let's see the GMs trying to get THAT costume out of me!

Also, I'm naked under my fur.

The Cosplay policy hurts Paragon employees the most. Because its our IP, legal insists that we adhere to it fully. It's okay for folks like Dr. Aeon, who can get by with a tube of hair gel and shades, but poor Black Scorpion needs to staple that cybernetic tail onto his back every morning. And have you guys tried coding with bionic claws? There are no thumbs! He still can't figure out how to use the shift key.

Even if the costume is just spandex, the RP requirements are brutal. Every time we work on a trailer, Synapse has to agree to get beat up for random cut scenes.

This is why our medical premiums keep going up every year.

I learned this within the first 6 months I was here. After that, I started designing my costumes like the suitcase armor from Ironman 2, in that they are all easy to get on. Though, I still need a 6 foot radius of clearance around me to get into my spines scrapper's costume

@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.
I am a blaster first, and an alt-oholic second.

Yes I realise what day it is, but if there was something that Paragon Studios did it would be nice if someone posted a link.

Cancel the kitchen scraps for widows and lepers, no more merciful beheadings and call off christmas!

I wear spiked armor as part of my dayjob, so no big deal for me.
