Doctor Who announces new companion
Hope there will be a scene where he introduces her to his mother-in-law Amy.
However reading the story from The Guardian I guessing not.

You know everyones always talking about Amy as the girl who waits, and that Rory is such a bad a$$. But folks seem to forget that his father in law is a Nurse. And that Rory is theoretically older than the doctor by a good thousand years, if we count the alternate timeline.
So in this series we had the girl who waited, times nurse, and times doctor. Sounds like a time lord hospital.
On topic I still like Martha as a compainion best. Witty smart and able to keep up with the doctor in his manic moments.
Now we aren't ready quite yet to let the catgirls out of the bag.... (quote from ex libris)
So much for the punters' hopes that Sophie Myles was coming back.
Not being a watcher of Emmerdale or Waterloo Road, I suppose I'll have to wait for the inevitable career highlights clips to be posted on Youtube by fans. Naturally there will be a massive clash in the comments section between those who think she'll be perfect and those who think she'll be terrible.
My prediction: Her role as a companion will be in the footsteps of Jo Grant (in a similar way that Ace was for Amy Pond).
New companions are like new Doctors; they get horribly criticised at first and then people can't live without them. I've seen too many now to do that...I look forward to the new dynamic, myself.
I keep waiting to see another Sarah Jane/Three and Four chemistry, or Ace/Seven....just that great spark between the actors.

I will admit I did like when Karen Gillan did that squeel......dunno why, just did....

Donna was a fresh change from the luv struck companions of Rose and Martha. She played it more like an annoying sister or work colleague than infatuated school girl.

"Who she's playing, how the Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her, are all part of one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters. Even by the Doctor's standards, this isn't your usual boy meets girl."
Random, baseless speculation: she's the daughter of the Doctor and the TARDIS.
'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.
I demand the return of Romana!
... Hit it ...

Fingers crossed for a companion who isn't from contemporary 21st-century Earth for a change. It used to be the Doctor would have some variety about where he picked up his TARDIS crew. New Who prefers to pick clear audience stand-ins.
Nope, saw the whole character arc and I still loathe the screeching harpy that is Donna Noble.

Donna broke the show. I put up with her for a while, but eventually dropped the show until she was gone. I watch the show to be entertained, not annoyed.
Too many alts to list.
Funny, I still think Donna was the best companion since Sarah Jane.
Rose started ok but the whole love storyline drove me to distraction by the end.
Martha was even worse, again a great character but the unrequited love thing was even worse.
Donna actually challenged the Doctor, rather than just simpered over him, and loved just travelling with him, seeing the universe as a friend.
Saying that, love Amy and Rory, especially the king of the badasses

Hey maybe we'll get lucky and the Doctor will regen as a female, then we'll get a run of some male companions instead of easy Earth girls.

Donna, honestly, I felt was a welcome break. Took a bit to warm to her, admittedly.
As far as our new Companion (and I keep flashing back to Earth: Final Conflict when I say that,) they're going to have a tough act to follow.
Oh, dear lord, I hated Teagan. I *so* wanted the Doctor to accidentally stop, yell "Here's heathrow, out'ya go!" and shove her into a black hole or something.

Tegan wasn't that bad, I quite liked her.
EG she wasn't The Langford (M'eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee'l)
http://www.doctorwhonews.net/ The Actress' name is Jenna Louise Coleman. No word on the name of the companion yet. Feel free to speculate. Oh and there are some spoilers further down the page.
"Star Wars is adolescent nonsense; Close Encounters is obscurantist drivel; "Star Trek" can turn your brains to puree of bat guano; and the greatest science fiction series of all time is Dr. Who! "
