Well I remember before the nuDC reboot (which I hope gets reversed soon) that DC was hinting at copying Marvel's movie formula after the next Dark Knight movie is done. Supposedly the Batman movies get rebooted and DC will begin to interlock them with the next Superman movie and so on until it culminates into the Justice League.

Problem 1: creating a good Wonder Woman movie to help link to the JL concept. They've had problems for years trying to make a WW movie.

Problem 2: Green Lantern didn't seem all that well received, so will it be rebooted or will the risk a sequel to link it to JL?

Problem 3: Aquaman: considered by some fans to be a joke of a character (superfriends stigma lingers), yet he was done right on JL/JLU. Could Aquaman support his own movie to be linked to JL or be brought in during the JL movie? This same problem would apply to the Martian Manhunter and Hawkman or Hawkgirl.

Problem 4: they've had problems making a FLASH movie, the TV series back in the day was fun and I'm sure he could support his own movie.

Except DC / WB will make a huge mess of it either way. The Marvel movie studio has done a decent job of creating their comic book-movie universe, providing the general audience with at least a basic understanding of the major characters in the Avengers.

The worst of which is Hawkeye which was little more than a cameo in the Thor movie. Of which imop was probably the worst of the Marvel movie studio films to come out. It's an ok movie, better than a lot of other movies to come out, super hero or not, but they set the bar so high with Iron Man

It just feels like they're rushing forward with the films of cap and thor simply to get to Avengers. While I really hope the pay off is worth it, I'd perfer if they had taken their time to put out even better films and then really hit the ball out of the park with Avengers. Now though, they don't have to try as hard to do so, which may be part of the plan

Either way, Avengers is looking great.

DC / WB would have a lot of work ahead of them to really establish the core JL characters in the minds of the general movie going audience. They'd have to do a way better job than they did with GL. If Avengers does really well and all they see is $$ and move too quick just to capitalize, they're likely to do an even worse job. Which would be a shame.

These are all good points. But to use the Avengers as a model we see that this movie still got made despite several lack-luster tries at The Hulk and no standalone movies for Hawkeye or Black Widow. It would seem a JL movie could be made with some "weak links" as well.

I agree the bar was raised with Iron Man, but I'll disagree on THOR being bad. Not quite as good as IM, but not a bad film, same with Cap.

As to DC/WB...yeah they seem to screw up most of their movies. perhaps they should do a JL movie similar to how they all met up and teamed up in the first episode of JL Animated. Superman and Batman each get a movie that is linked to the other and helps establish a JL movie. JL movie comes out, Batman and Superman are teamed up to face a menace and the other heroes get called in and they all join forces. That might be more efficient and financially safe then cranking out an introduction movie for each JL founder, especially given WB/DC's reputation with some of their movies (Superman 3, 4 ,Returns, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Catwoman....).

Also I think DC has abandoned their Captain Marvel movie project, which is too bad. That is one movie I'd like to see, but now nuDC refers to him only has SHAZAM and is dropping the Captain Marvel name. On a "strange note of coincidental timing" Marvel is now announcing what appears to be the actual resurrection of Captain Mar-Vell in Secret Avengers....

I agree if they tried to rush a JL movie it'd probably be crummy. But if say in the next 5-10 years they manage a few good tries at Batman, Superman and maybe the Holy Grail of a Wonder Woman movie then I could see a good JL movie out of that. The Big Question of course is whether DC / WB can follow in Marvel's footsteps.

I agree. They should do it similar to the first episode of JL Animated. Batman and Superman have teamed up to face a huge menace, it's too big for them and the other heroes arrive and they join forces.

Financially safer I would think then risking origin movies for each JL founder that may turn out to be lackluster bombs like GL.

Yeah, that was pretty much my reaction too. I haven't been this excited for a film in ages.

That moment of Hulk catching Iron Man just made me squee with excitement.

Perhaps a trilogy would be in order: First movie would be the Batman/Superman team up that ends up with them beating some threat that let's them find out about the hidden super-big menace. Second movie would be their attempt to gather up the other heroes to fight the super-big menace. The final movie would be the full blown JL movie. Sounds cool to me.

Looking at what they have going on, it could be that the plot on this movie is too epic to complete in one film. This may be a two-parter.

If that were happening we would already know about it.

Does anybody recognize the blonde at :20? She looks so familiar it's killing me. I'm sure she's a Whedonite from Buffy or Angel or something but I cannot for the life of me remember her name.

She looks familiar to me as well. Noticed that when the earlier trailers came out, but didn't really look into it. I can picture her crying in some other role I've seen her in, which makes me think it was probably some minor role in Law & Order or something, or perhaps a minor role in some chick flick, but can't really narrow it down more than that.

Sooooooo good!

I'm still a little apprehensive about the tacked-on 3D, but otherwise: BIG THUMBS UP!!
