The police locations are confusing

I have a new character.
Went to King's Row.
Had to go into the police station to get a radio.
In the station I checked for missions - the police station was being raided.
Thought that was odd since I was in the police station.
Went outside, the mission location was the police station.
Zoomed the map out, the mission was actually the building right behind the police station.
Went to the unmarked building, went inside and it looked exactly like the police station I had just been in.

And Becktrees did not lift a finger to help.

Also, why's there a Talos police station next to the Pocket D entrance if none of the cops hang out there?

If the cops were to hang out at the station next to the Pocket D entrance they'd be accused of entrapment every time they arrested an intoxicated person coming out of Pocket D.

More than one building can be assigned by the city for use by the police. Those buildings can be close together or spread widely across the city in various locations.

You ever notice that while there's a police station and hospital in every zone, there's not a single fire station to be found?

Doesn't surprise me...

I blame Becktrees... and that insipid smile of his... >.>

I couldn't agree more.

No need when you have a gazillion super heros! They'll fight the fires faster than any 3 fire engine crews can! lol

There is, however, a fireman. Exactly one. And he dances.

The thing I've always been curious about is, why do we have two detectives/brokers per zone? It just seems a little weird to me that, depending on your character, you might be assigned to Person A or Person B that are functionally identical.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

Maybe that explains why I see the fire chief run off into a sewer entrance after the fire is put out in Steel....

You think that's bad? I'm still trying to figure out this one:

The detectives are partners.

The brokers are roomates in a wacky sit-com b/romance crime series featuring them and a small dog, running every Wednesday night (with reruns on Friday) on SPDR-TV.

Wanted: Origin centric story arcs.
If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.

I'll bet he's the entire fire department for Paragon City. I guess we know where all their budget cuts went to!

Seriously, while the PPD gets a division of Peacebringers, the PFD is all of one person? I guess they're relying entirely on licensed heroes to put out fires. When really, the fire department should have their own division of heroes with ice powers.

It's not just weird, it's bloody annoying.

Levelling a toon with a friend, you will almost invariably end up with two different detectives/brokers. You both pick up, for example, the Kings Row Mayhem. You run yours, you get away with the loot, hurrah! temp power, new contact etc. you then have to do it all over again, because while his is the exact same damn mission, because it's from a different contact, he couldn't auto-complete the blasted thing at the end of yours. And if you're levelling via story arcs, then this whole fiasco tends to repeat every five levels...

In fact, I think there should be at least a "main" fire station in Atlas Park. Just like the detectives in each hero zone, the fire station should also have two contacts in it. Those contacts should be modeled after John Gage and Roy DeSoto (who were actually paramedics, but what-ev!).

Their missions should be all about putting out fires. Which means, of course, lots and lots of Hellions! In fact, it could be some epic low level story arc.

EDIT: Oh yeah, when you're inside the station, every now and then you should be able to hear a certain alarm go off.

What's to figure out? Obviously it's CoH's version of the TARDIS.

Now then, if they put another fire station in another zone, they could model the contact there after Joe Rorchek. In fact, he could be in the same station as our venerable Chief Williams, and the station could be in Steel Canyon. There could be another story arc there that ties into the burning building events.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and since we already got a canine model in the game now, both stations could have a dalmatian in them.

Ah, yes, one of the clown closets.
If you're on a full team and use that door for Trick or Treating, you can have an army come out of that tiny building.

-Where do all these cars go for gas?
-Bus stops, but never seen a bus.
-So much police on the street, but no police cars.

That's because, on each server, there can only be one Fireman. They try to hire more, but when they're told they have to be Fire.man, or Fire Man, or xXFiremanXx they quit.

@Doctor Gemini

Arc #271637 - Welcome to M.A.G.I. - An alternative first story arc for magic origin heroes. At Hero Registration you heard the jokes about Azuria always losing things. When she loses the entire M.A.G.I. vault, you are chosen to find it.

When you get to a new level range, hit the "Find Contact" button on your Contacts list, and click Next until you get to the end. There will always be one standard contact, and sometimes an Unlockable contact on the list. As far as I've been able to tell, which contact shows up is constant; every character I've checked with has recieved the same contacts at the same levels, regardless of their origin, level, whether they're "pure" or "in between" faction, etc.

Doesn't help if, for example, you hate the Golden Roller's arc, but it's a broker-free way to progress up the levels.

In addition, there's zone arcs blueside (Hollows, Faultline, Striga, Croatoa will get you from 5-35 solo on default difficulty with few, if any, other missions). And redside has unlockable contacks (Veluta Lunata, Seer Marino, Archmage Tarixus, Crimson Spectre, Television, etc). Neither of these guarantees a paper/scanner-free trip from 1 to 50, but they can definitely help.

Oh good, a thread I can vent about the idiotic detectives in *deep breath*

Why are detectives auto-selected when you enter a zone for the first time? Even though I had a mission selected that sent me to that zone when I took the tram there. I love traveling half way to the detective before I realize it's not the mission door I wanted to head to.

Why is there a Detectives tab in contacts that is completely useless because all the detectives are also listed in your Active Contacts tab? With no option to remove the detectives from the Active tab?

There, that feels better.

I so hate that

OMG, that is soooo annoying. I can't count the number of times I've headed to a zone for a mission, and halfway across the zone I realize I'm not heading to my mission, I'm heading to some stupid detective who has infiltrated my navigation system and rerouted me because he thinks being introduced to me is more important than whatever mission I'm on.

If they sold a temporary power in the market place that would allow you to kill the detective with your mind when he does this, and you could hear his scream across the zone, I would buy it. I don't care what price they put on it.
