It looks good really good. Spider-Man might be my favorite super hero of all time and
Captain-Electric a few posts up said it extremely well.

The first two movies were good not great but good, then the third hit theatres and it was a travesty. I heard rumors that the director just didn't like Venom as a bad guy well good job casting Eric Foreman phhhh. Topher grace aint a bad actor he just shouldn't have played Venom is all. Then Kristen Dunce too tooo toooooooo much screen time if you get my jist. Then to top it all off Spidey did his own song and dance /wrists.

I hope they don't butcher my favorite super hero again and I think the kid playing the part looks good better then Toby did so fingers crossed.

So the story goes, it went something like this.

Raimi: We need a villain who's mostly a blank slate, so we can do what we want with him.
Random Suit: How about Sandman?
Raimi: Who?
Random Suit: He's a criminal made of sand that he can control. He's tried to reform a few times--
Raimi: --Perfect!

later...

Raimi: So we have this story using Sandman as the villain for Spider-Man 3.
Avi Arad: Sandman? The kids like Venom.
Raimi: But--
Arad: --Venom's popular. Put Venom in the movie.
Raimi: But we have all this story devoted to how Sandman--
Arad: So keep Sandman and put Venom in too!
Raimi:

Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.

good luck D.B.B.

I am not drinking the Kool-Laid.

There have been many good trailers that made movies seem better than what they are. This one I think is no exception..

And that suit... OMG awefull!! those Sunglasses for eyes? really?

You know that the actor who played Darth Vader was not told what was happening and was given a completely different script than what you see n screen right?

As far as the trailer... looks better, but the original is going to haunt it in my book along with the fact it is a reboot so close to the release of the previous spidey trilogy and I'm going to say that I'm still not looking forward to it... There are still some glaring problems that one can pick up in the trailer and it feels a bit too much like Batman in some places... so while it's a massive step forward it also isn't a must see movie from just that.

That was Empire, not Return, and in frustration blew the 'secret' on some morning talk show the week the movie opened.

They went roughly 2 or 3 years between Bond films, even when they brought in a new Bond. So 5 years from when Spidey 3 being released isn't too short a time to run with a new Spidey, IMO. Normally im wary of trailers, but this one does what the first one didn't, sell the movie. Its enough to make me interested in seeing the movie, and with any luck, it'll at least wipe the stain of S3 from my brain.

Is three years that big of a difference?

5 years between Spidey reboots. 8 years between Batman reboots.

Also I think people forget, Sony doesn't want to lose the Spidey license, so having the reboots happen like this is probably going to be par for the course.

Aww they can't leave J. Jonah out of it, not Spider-Man without his hate mongering and getting the people of New York to hate Spidey. He's the guy I love to hate.

That's not the only reason. But it's also a matter of origin to origin reboot rather than just ending to beginning. It's been 10 years since the beginning of Spider-Man as a movie... Batman was 16 years and i still consider that too soon, but meh.

The only time I believe you can say they rebooted Bond was the 2006 Casino Royale, and there was a four year gap between Die Another Day and Casino Royale. Longer, but not excessively so. The biggest gap was the six year gap between the last Timothy Dalton Bond (License to Kill, 1989) and the first Pierce Brosnan Bond (Goldeneye, 1995).

Reboots are less about the time between incarnations, and more about whether the reboot is strong enough on its own to compete favorably with people's recollections of the previous incarnation. People have had to do that often with Bond anyway, so when Casino Royale said "lets start over, and lets introduce a new Bond while we're at it" movie audiences were already used to changing faces: restarting continuity was almost a relief than a struggle.

I think honestly Spiderman left such a weak final impression that the Amazing Spiderman will not have to compete much. Its going to live or die based on whether its a good movie, not based on living up to any expectations from the previous trilogy.

True... hadn't noticed. Hmm...

They also show nothing of Uncle Ben getting killed. Wonder if the Lizard will somehow be responsible, or if Uncle Ben just appears in flashbacks.

This is probably the reason i don't mind them rebooting the series. As much as i did like the first two Raimi films, there were a lot of things about them that i didn't like. Mopey Peter was one of the big ones, and this guy doesn't seem to have the perpetual kicked puppy expression Tobey was rocking in his Spidey movies. I admit, i really want to give this new direction a shot, and from the two trailers they've put out, it looks pretty good.

I hope it's just the Lizard. It's usually a bad sign when they start throwing in multiple villains. (i.e. the pre-Christopher Nolan Batman series and Spidey 3) It's often used as a gimmick to compensate for creative deficiencies in the film. I'd rather see a movie with one compelling villain, like the Joker or Doc Ock, than a parade of cliched and one-dimensional bad guys.

Hate Emma Stone as a blonde.

Peter public persona is more emo loner than genius loner.

Definitely better than the FP-POV teaser trailer.

Connors seems to be more mad scientist than tragic scientist.

I'm afraid this'll still be a pass for me.

I'll wait for DvD. I've got no interest in seeing Spidey run from the cops for 2 hours while also trying to stop/save his accidental creation, with Gwen knowing...

Maybe I'll wait til it's on TV...

One bit in the trailer worries me a bit. The press conference where Dennis Leary announces that he's issuing an arrest warrant for "The masked vigilante known as Spider-Man" gave me an awful case of deja vu.

This, a billion times this. Brunette or Red for her, always and only.

She's stunning in either of those colors. As a blonde? Bleh.

I have zero expectation for this movie either good or bad. Because I know what Hollywood is capable of with movie trailers.

This looks as bad as Green Lantern... getting the same vibe...

In this movie instead of his motivation causing Uncle Ben's death and learning hard "With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility."

Peter instead will be a hero because of some dark secret of his CIA parents... yeah...

The actor looks 30 years old and trying to be 16? Not working for me.

Lizard looks horrible.

This is not looking good. More and more I see. More and more I read. This movie is going to bomb.

But she's always been a blonde, well born that way. She just tends to color her hair other colors a lot.

Yeeeaah. It's got Spider-man in it. Off the sheer numbers of kids from 7-12 alone, this movie will be successful. It could be a Disney style sing-along type movie and still rake it in at the box office.
