What keeps interrupting my Mission Teleporter

On the last couple of S/TFs I've run, my Mission Teleporter keeps fizzling out. Someone else mentioned theirs was still working but that they are "easily interruptable.

Is there possibly some buff someone is casting on me that is causing this? Maybe an Incarnate buff of some sort, because this didn't seem to happen on lower level S/TFs?

The Ouro portal /despawning/ does this.

It's got to be something besides that, because it's happened to me when I've been alone after running back from Nerva to talk to the contact in Sharkhead, who then, of course, sends me right back to the northernmost reaches of Nerva.

Actually, if you zone to Ouroboros, your O-portsl despawns, even if you entered someone else's. It didn't always work that way; I suspect they changed it because otherwise there would potentially be random O-portals all over the place wasting server resources unnecessarily.

To the OP: If you're not in the same zone as teammates using O-portals, do you have a power set to auto (Control-clicked so it has a green circle)? An auto-firing power should be waiting until the interruptable power finishes before triggering, but maybe it isn't?

With regards to being alone, the person causing their O-portal to despawn does not need to be on your team or in your line of sight. If anyone at all is within some unknown range and does this, it can interrupt you. Could someone have been behind a building and you just didn't know they were there?

If they sped up the activation of mission tp like the 5 charge temp power was, it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

In some instances, it's almost faster to just SS to a train.

At least we don't have to ride a giant turtle like they do in some other games.

On the minus side, we don't get to ride giant animals.

I'll never forgive them for nerfing instant mission tp. It was one of the coolest temp powers ever, entirely because it was a mission tp and it was instant.

I've had otherwise inexplicable interrupts as well. Including in numerous cases where I'm fairly certain there wasn't anyone nearby using Ouro. The only thing I've noted is that in a number of those cases I've had a buff (typically Hasten) wear off during the attempt to TP. Why that would interrupt it, I don't know, and I've never taken the time to test whether that is the issue or not, as the timer on the powers is long and so is the walk back to a remote location for the next test iteration.

I'm pretty sure I've had Rage crashing interrupt the various interruptable teleport powers. I'd guess auto-firing things like Hasten or Practiced Brawler would do it as well when they kick on, and maybe off.

As others have mentioned, O-portal despawns need not be teammates. They will break your TPs from many hundreds of yards away even if you aren't on a team at all. It annoys the hell out of me after Hamidon raids if I happen to want to go to a base or auction house instead of Ouro.

My guess would be it's because Hasten hits you with a -Endurance tick right as it wears out, which counts as a "negative" effect. That's just a guess though.

Zoning to anywhere will cause your Portal to despawn. It works like a pet.

FYI, I don't think it's "many" hundreds of yards. I tested it once a while back (may have changed since then) and I think it was about 200 yards.

What are you talking about? The mission transporter from the mac pack/booster/market has always had a long cast time. The mission teleporter from the market/paragon rewards is instant cast.

I had it interrupt me on the hills surrounding the center of the "bowl" in the Hive where Hamidon spawns when people in the center were exiting using Ouro portals. That's a pretty long way, and I'm fairly sure it's further than that, but I haven't double checked.

Not anymore. They changed it some time ago. Now, the 5 charge temp power takes just as long as the one from the booster pack. True, the animation starts instantly, but it takes about 25 seconds? before you actually get ported. (It seems much, much longer )

I recall clearly making the suggestion in the "suggestions/for fun" section of the forums that they allow us to buy the instant mission tp.

I was told that there were problems with people's charge being used up when it didn't work. Just seems to me, though, the longer the animation, the more opportunity there is to interrupt it. What really irks is that the instant tp should have been part of the booster pack. It was almost enough to make me rage quit.

My impression was that it was considerably further than 200 yards as well, which is why I didn't try testing the buff expiration theory. I felt I needed to be off in a featureless corner of a zone such as Talos or PI or the Shard to feel certain no one else was in range.

I think Codewalker's explanation accounts for most of the "mystery" interrupts I've had, with unseen Ouro users probably accounting for the rest.

Yeah, I guess it could be any of those things. I just thought maybe it was some sort of Incarnate buff causing the problem, because I was pretty sure I heard somebody mention that on a recent TF I was on.

Whaaaaaaaat. When did that change? I loved using those TPs for a quick story arc on my heroes (sooooo much traveling!).
