As dumb as Lori is you have to at least give her 1 thing, she didn't waste half a season making people look for her >.> lol
*sigh* Stabbing 'em in the forehead...just...wrong. Unless that bone has started turning brittle/mushy, that's just about the hardest spot on a human skull. He could've much more easily went in through the eye socket.
Beth is either going to find another way to kill herself or she's going to go quisling.

And who knows,... maybe zombification makes things brittle...

All in all, a fast solid episode. Let a lot of emotional laundry air and yet lets the smolder continue. Not sure I like the tone of next week's preview... but we'll see.
Don't worry, next week's preview has Daryl playing the interrogator.

I liked that Rick cleared the air with Shane, instead of letting that fester any longer. Of course, it doesn't look like Shane will accept it, but Rick gave it a shot.
Did Lori's whole idea of "Let the menfolk fight Walkers!" come from the comic? It seemed a little ridiculous, especially after her attempt to bring back the guys.
I think Andrea had a sound idea, but I wouldn't let a kid make that kind of decision yet. Beth needed some distance from the initial shock of the barn before she could think clearly about going on or not.
Randall is growing on me, but I don't entirely trust him yet.

So the two cops turned without being bitten, huh? Curiouser and curiouser.

At one point, I figured they were going to use Beth like the bit with Tyrone's daughter.
Didn't they say that the cops had scratches, rather than outright bites? Couldn't tell what the response was.

I'm firmly in the Jenner's comments camp on this.
Interestingly, I've had the opportunity to watch this with my wife and daughter - neither big zombie fans per se, nor have they read the comic. They are thoroughly enjoying it. I mention this for two reasons:
- They laugh at all the timeline flubs and concerns when I asked them about them from discussion here. Essentially, the response was the story and characters are good enough so why worry about little things like that.
- The issue of Jenner's whisper never crosses their mind - it was a minor thing quickly forgotten.

Andrea, in the comic, breaks that mold after the prison arc. And it's never returned to since then. Even during the safe-zone arcs.
Tonight's show was excellent. And done more in the comic book style than any previous episode (Focus on specific characters instead of constant wipes back to show everybody doing things).
3 episodes left.
Spoilers are still spot on, I'm interesting to see who was the leak within the production company.
Rick is becoming more like the comic book Rick, which is delightful

Just some interesting perspective from those a little further away from "our" demographic (comic/superheroe/zombie fans) that is watching the show.

As far as where the "Jenner Whisper" stands I think what the TV show will eventually reveal is that the Zombie Apocalypse was caused by some kind of mutated virus that outright killed and zombified like 90% of the entire population. Of the remaining 10% I think the virus killed most of them but did not fully zombify them. This would explain the number of dead bodies lying around that aren't actively walking. There's probably a remaining tiny percentage who are now carriers of the virus but who are otherwise immune to it. This would not only explain our main characters still being alive but could even explain why they aren't becoming zombies themselves after countless exposures to their infected blood and/or contaminated knifes and the like.
As always I guess we'll see...

Sorta. The women in the comic, particularly during the prison arc, do the stereotypical "women" things such as taking care of the kids and preparing clothes and so forth.

Also I liked how they threw in the idea that Randall has had a crush on Maggie. Assuming he actually survives the next episode then I could see how he might start trying to move in on the Glenn/Maggie thing.

Eh, for what it's worth you don't really need to be a big comic/superhero/zombie fan in order to be annoyed by -any- TV show that can't be edited well enough to plausibly explain huge 12+ hour gaps for no good story reason at all. At least this show doesn't do silly things like that in every episode.

I kind of like how we have two pairs of characters both fighting each other for the "Alpha" spots within the group. We have the obvious Rick versus Shane confrontation but it's now clear that Lori and Andrea are fighting over the same kinds of issues from I guess what would be considered the "female" point of view. We already knew that Shane and Andrea both see more eye-to-eye on things so we've got a real tag team match between the four of them going on now.
|
Good point, and a constrast I cannot specifically remember in the written material (but it has been a while).

Well with comicbook Shane killed off so quickly comicbook Rick never had any one person to challenge his leadership the same way TV Shane constantly challenges TV Rick. There was a hint that comicbook Shane was going to stand against Rick but that "confrontation" only lasted about 2 pages in the comic so it barely started before it abruptly ended.
Likewise comicbook Lori never really seriously "butted heads" with comicbook Andrea before Lori was killed off so that leadership battle never happened between them either.
Clearly this type of plotline was only possible in the TV show.

Possible additional spoilers ahead
Yeah, I should have been more specific in my comment. I meant, given your noted spoilers, I do not remember anyone being placed in a position to similarly present the dynamic for opposing views as we are getting now on the show (with the foursome)... maybe in DC some...
Anyway, it is certainly taking advantage of the new dynamic presented by Shane's TV longevity.
Of course, they could go the completely other way, and she becomes a zombie killing machine. See "Tallahassee" in Zombieland for an example of this.
I would say Shane goes over the edge first, if he hasn't already. Plus, you know, comic Shane. My guess would be rampant paranoia and isolation from the rest.
I wouldn't trust Lori to make a run to the grocery store pre-zombieworld. Now? Pregnant, stressed out, pregnant, son is barely off the operating table, pregnant, wondering where the next meal is coming from, etc.
