Anyone know who the Freedom Corps-ish girl at 10 O'clock to Desdemona is?

In character, my main character would have attended the eulogy and the funeral.
It was well done, almost made me like the guy again.
Would have definitely swayed my character.
Time to remove the cape.

Yeah this certainly gives me some thinking issues as in who to bring to the public funeral, if there is one, and i think most hope there will be one. (Would be nice if a Red Name chimed in on this.)
Either my 1st 50, namesake, founder of the Freedom Legion SG named Dark Energon. Or the toon i have been playing for the last year and a half, the best toon i have and the toon that most know on the server, my Crab Spider named Nephila.
If anyone else is having this 'problem', please let me know your train of thoughts regarding this.
PS: Yes, my toons will remove their capes for a period of mourning, and a sign of respect.. like Statesman did for Hero 1 and the Omega Team.

I really liked this. I have to admit, I felt a little tightness in the heartstrings reading the last few lines.
so whats gonna happen to the Statesman Task Force, who will take it over? ive been away for a while, work and family life has caught up with me, but i played religiously from issue 8 up till last year. so sorry if im behind on the lore and storylines.
In Issue 23 later this year, all the Statesman content that needs changing will be changed in some way.

Paragon City will never see the bright flash as he swoops by against a blue sky once more, never hear him rally us in the face of an uncertain future again, never fight side by side with him to stand for what we believe in our hearts. |
Ok ok... Seriously.
You have a funeral and don't invite my hero? I mean she was there, fighting Wade for goodness sakes. She had to stay there until the rest of the Phalanx finally showed up. Don't you know how traumatic that was, watching the big States walk into an obvious trap to get fried, knowing she could do absolutely nothing to stop it? And to have him laying there, lifeless at her feet, after fighting off an Aspect of Rulaaru? And no where is she in this picture. And to make matters worst Positron, you can't even remember her name. She was the very hero who Maria Jenkins recruited to rescue Statesman to begin with. The Freedom Phalanx have some very selective memories. And I should know, being inside Psyche's brain.
Seriously for real now... Penelope... why'd you pick out such a skimpy hero costume? And worn to Statesman's funeral no less. Where's the little girl I saved way back when in Faultline? Your going to give King Clockwork brain seizures.
OK ok ok... really seriously now... The eulogy was ok despite the grammatical errors (( which i can't complain about seeing as I probably have a few)) and I like the picture besides it obviously advertising many of the new costumes players can now use. (( Available now in the Paragon Market. )) Maybe less Longbow though and more Signature heroes.
For the record though, it would have been cool to have done this funeral in game. Hell, it would have been even better to have attended the funeral only to have Stephan show up with his gang af Arachnos and have a good superpowered slugfest in honor of Buckethead.
But I guess we all can't get what we want.

How is War Witch in that picture? I thought she was dead too. Or well her spirit can't leave Pocket D.
A lot of other Heroes are missing. I believe we should be focusing on WHO is attending. I for one find it interesting that Dark Watcher is there. Yet Positron makes no mention of him being a (one of the) co-founder of the Freedom Phalanx. It seems that his presence can be rather ominous.

Maybe Mender Lazarus in the lower left corner too.
"...now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb" - Dark Helmet
Keep in mind that this Eulogy is delivered in the voice of Positron the character, not Positron the developer.
Positron the character probably wouldn't delve into all of that, especially not in a Eulogy. |
(And if I were in-character hostile press, I would headline the speech as "Positron takes credit for Statesman's achievements." "Paragon City: In his eulogy for the dead American vigilante known as Statesman, Raymond "Positron" Keyes went out of his way to remind people that it was he, Keyes, not Marcus Cole, who revived the World War II era vigilante squad known as Freedom Phalanx." Jake Limes, wspdr.com, 1/25/12)
The biggest reason that I can't really mourn Statesman is that he was such a cardboard cut-out. I can't think of even one thing he ever said or did, in game, that ever gave him even the slightest hint of a personality. What did he care about? What was he fighting for? What was he fighting against? We were never told. He was just this total cypher to whom a lot of things happened. Positron's eulogy would have been a handy place for some writer to have done something about that.
While my 1st 50 Dr. Illuminatis, would be too busy with the Midnight Squad trying to get back all the artifacts that Wade stole, my 2nd 50, Ice Veil would release a statement along the lines of this:
"It is with great sadness, that we lay to rest Marcus Cole today. Yes I said Marcus Cole, not Statesman. We, as human beings, especially in Paragon City, tend to see the images we choose to project, rather than the human beings, androids, Alien life forms et al, we really are. Marcus Cole was a man who made a decision to use the abilities he was given to make a difference in the world. A choice that inspired almost all of us to make that same decision for ourselves. We take consolation from the fact that even though Marcus Cole is gone, We take up his inspiration, his courage, and his memory every time we go to fight the good fight against the evils that threaten the world today. Thank You, Marcus Cole, the man who taught us what true heroism is, and let us hope, that if we ever stare death in the face in the course of our adventures, that we face it with the same courage and strength that you did."

It is truely a sad day, I was there the day we liberated Statesman from Tyrant. Where one of my younger girls of the Neon Angels, Statesman's Gal took charge of a bad situation and led the charge to free the Hero She looked up to. That Day She came into her own and became Security level 50. I remember Her telling Him the story about how as a young girl He saved her when the rikti attacked. And how it was Her turn to return the favor. And I remember how her heart swelled when He gave her his mask in Graditude. So it is with a Heavy Hearts that Statesmans Gal, myself and the rest of the Girls of the Neon Angels say good-bye to the dear friend who helped us grow into the Women we are today.

As a player and customer, I was never much impressed with Marcus Cole/Statesman. Even his character in the novel and comics was shallow and grandiose at the same time. When the Praetorian Tyrant showed up on the scene, that seemed a far more realistic presentation of the result of Cole's narcissistic and inflamed sense of self-righteousness. Manticore and his bumbling drive to compete above his natural level was always a much stronger character in my mind.
Now, with that out of the way, Positron's eulogy is compassionate and respectful. It is well-composed and well thought out. A very fine eulogy for a character that never felt quite real. Nicely done, Positron, capturing his strenths, extolling his achievements, careful sidestepping his flaws.
Dusty Enalios has a eulogy of her own to offer,
"Good grief and good riddance!"
Well, she is a powerful villainess, after all, you can't really expect her to mourn.

I thought that Zwill specifically stated to not spread that stuff around? Keep it to the ONE thread. Or did I misread?

All she is, is a player like me. The way i see her.. just a girl who needs attention and thinks she is more important than she actually is.

I find it ironic Zwil of all people doesn't want the beta testers to spoil anything.
Ghost-Face Killa (Guardian), "I am Statesman....."
Ghost-Face Killa (Infinity), "I am Statesman....."
Thugg-Life (Virtue), "I am Statesman....."

So it appears Statesman is not dead at all. He lives on in some of us. So the question I ask you my friends is, "Are you Statesman?"

Before he got his powers, wasn't States breaking the law as a thief and also posing as a cop? I'm not sure he was as heroic as one is lead to believe.
