An Official Statement from the Zero Strykers supergroup, released in response to Positrons Eulogy Re: Statesman.

Statesman, the very symbol of our city, a man whose cape adorns the City Hall to this day, has fallen. While out paths crossed on few occasions, there was always an unspoken understanding of what needed to be done. He was always a man of action, preferring to show his intentions and prove them on every occasion so than no questions of his word were ever raised. He was never afraid to ask for help, nor offer it to those in need.

Myself, and my fellow Zero Strykers give though to Marcus Cole, his abscence leaves us with many questions, but also a legacy of heroism to live up to.

Peace be with you Statesman, and may your memory forever be associated with justice.

Hold up! The one by the logo is the same as the one on the bottom left! It's a conspiracy, I tell you! States isn't dead! He lives on in the body of three Praetorian Clockwork!

He wasn't fighting one in the loading splash screen: he was merging with it!

Statesman never defeated Nemesis back on Brass Monday! Nemesis took over Statesman's body and is now copying himself to robots; just like he wanted to copy himself to the Rikti network!

Edit:

And just think when Tyrant captured Statesman (Nemesis); that's how Tyrant found out how to make the Praetorian Clockwork; Nemesis told him how to do so! Then Nemesis used that info. (knowing the ins-and-outs of what he told Tyrant) and copied himself to the Praetorian clockwork!

An ingame funeral event would definitely be nice. I'm pretty sure they said they don't have plans to do one, though.

Ambush!

Everyone know the Tank Archetype get the most drops of all the types. This is because of their "Death Dealing" powers. I call it the front line bonus...but you'll never read this in the wiki - "Rx10"

I expect that at least one and maybe all of the Praetorian Clockwork are Metronome, since he's shown he can control multiple bodies at once.

Other than the missing Phalanxers and Vindicators that have already been pointed out, I'm a bit surprised that Lady Grey isn't present. Foreshadow and Mirror Spirit don't appear to be there, either.

I have to add my vote for an in-game event of some kind. Not sure how the server would handle the load, though. I suppose it'd have a cutoff, like was done for the Manti/Psyche wedding. Such an event would be doubly nice if we had a surprise appearance by Lord Recluse... but not to fight. Out of respect for a worthy adversary.

That picture should be the new load screen with issue 22, instead of the one currently on the beta build. That way players that don't know anything about the SSA will think that one clockwork killed statesman.

Looks like someone needs to get around to running the incarnate trials. Or at least look on Paragon Wiki and learn the canon that you don't feel like running.

I mentioned this in an unrelated thread that linked to the cropped version of this picture. I want to give serious props to the artist who produced that image for capturing in "ink" the look and feel not only of in-game characters complete with in-game costume pieces, hair, etc., but even the poses of such characters. Except for most of the pall bearers and the Vindicators on the stairs, who are all in poses that are natural for the scene but not in game, all the characters in the scene seem captured as though in actual idling poses from the game. Indeed, it would be easy for me to imagine this piece of art transitioning into actual in-game footage but for the characters in the procession.

Also, I did like the read of the eulogy, its smattering of grammatical oopsies aside.

Good work all around.

It was an excellent write up and inspiring, looking foward to the rest of the SSA.

There is a question. Who is going to give out the Statesman Task Force Mission in IP thinking of when Warrent dies in Prea? just wondering.

What? Do I know you? Do you know me? Have we ever even spoken before? I've played through the trials and I know what happens on the Underground Trial, but I didn't realize her wearing the mask was a permanent thing now, so bound to her face that she'd wear it to a funeral for no reason.

But thank you for the unprovoked attitude and the baseless assumptions.

Been wondering this myself since it was announced. o.0

There's also a mission late in the game where you "rescue" him from Tyrant. Not sure how they're going to handle that!

Would be a shame to lose that mission. You can ghost it and let Statesman go to town on the mobs after Tyrant is down. The damage from his attacks is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!

My bet is on Hero 1.

I certainly got the impression that the mask is indeed bonded to her now, but it might just be that she doesn't want to take it off. Madeline Casey's Carnival mask definitely exerted a strong influence on her, extending to controlling her mind; maybe the extremely powerful psyche of Vanessa DeVore is having a similar effect on Desdemona. Or maybe she considers the mask so powerful that she can't chance anyone taking it, so she keeps it on at all times.

Or on a more human note, maybe she just doesn't want anyone to see her cry.

Nice eulogy. A nice piece to fit in the lore.
And, I'm glad this wasn't in a cutscene in an SSA at this length... maybe a shorter version in game, so this works nicely.

(AND, am I the only person who can see Manticore standing right there left of the casket?...just behind the two ranks of LB.)

Just looking at the in thread version it looked like Manticore.
