Honestly, there was never going to be a rotation of T9. They should never have said that. That always sounded to me like a completely unfeasible idea that someone tossed out there that was then communicated to the Community Team in error somehow.
Clearly, they are going to want to keep coming out with new things for VIP T9 in order to keep T9 people subscribing. If they didn't, then people would complain.
The fact that, down the line, they will continue to create more new VIP T9 rewards infinitely means that at some point it would have become completely unfeasible to rotate that tier in the way they originally mentioned. That's one of the first things I said to my husband when they mentioned that. At what point does it end?
It was always clear to me that they'd have to eventually come up with another avenue to get those costumes out there if getting them to people when they were replaced in T9 was something they wanted to do. It makes complete sense to me that they end up in the market for some amount.
Don't get me wrong, they said something and then changed their minds (essentially), so I understand why people are upset. However, I think it's something that people on all sides should simply have thought through a little more when it was originally announced. Logically, everything could not have rotated forever; so logically, another solution would eventually need to be found. Better to have put more thought into it and come up with a better plan from the first set that is being replaced (Celestial), than to have left things in limbo until we'd replaced 4 sets and people started to wonder when/where Celestial would reappear.
Keep in mind that it was never said when (that I saw, may have missed it) Celestial armor would become available by another means. It could still be vaulted for another 6 months or a year before becoming a permanent market fixture. It could be available for 1 week every 2 months, or something. It could be earned with Emp Merits, which would keep it VIP anyway. We just don't know. Wouldn't it be better to cool off a bit until more information becomes available? -
Quote:Actually, no. The creature I was looking for is, in fact, a chimera. Manticores have human heads, not cat heads, and this creature has no wings. The mythical creature you're looking for is a Manticore.
Manticore: Body of a lion, variable head (human, cat, mix between the two) tail of a scorpion, and typically large bat-like wings.
Chimera: Body and head of a lion, second head of a goat, tail of a serpent.
And despite all the rage over the continued use of the four-legged rig, I must remind you all: we will most likely be receiving the Panther Stealth travel power some time in the coming weeks.
Although the description you chose is ONE of the definitions of a chimera, a second one is an imaginary monster compounded of incongruous parts. Therefore, a chimera is exactly what I meant. -
Not excited for vanity pets. Particularly not excited about a chimera being called a liger, no matter what the reference is from. (Nope, never saw that movie, but thanks to those who mentioned it. It's good to know why it was presented that way at least.)
That being said, I am excited to see that they bundled the wild cats together. I hope that they will do this more in the future. The special travel powers are some that I could see benefiting from such bundling. -
Quote:I'll sign this. I have no use for server transfers. I can't see myself making much use of them at all, so they're just going to build up indefinitely. If I had a generic token every month that I could apply to one of several things like this (name change, alignment change, etc.) then that would be better. Honestly, for me, I'd rather have an extra 100 points per month than that server transfer I'll never use. (yes, I know the transfer is worth more than 100 points, but I'm not trying to suggest that they give it all away, just trying to make a point.) Even a couple of super packs instead would work for me.I wonder if there would be a way to offer a choice, though; replace free server transfers with a more-inclusive "account service" token that could be used for a variety of features that don't really "add" anything to the account or the characters so much as they move existing things around -- server transfers or alignment changes (and maybe character renames could be rolled into it as well). If they were versatile enough, it might even be okay to reduce them to a bi-monthly offering instead of a monthly one.... I bet the vast majority of VIPs would be okay (even thrilled) with seeing their twelve annual server transfers replaced with six annual transfers/side-switches/renames they could pick and choose as they wanted.

So many options on this one it's really hard to pick just one. I sort of hope that with 6 options to choose from they maybe take the top 2.

The monkey is definitely awesome. Fabulous concept, whoever put that together.

Quote:Honestly, I'd settle for them doing it at initial purchase. Group 3-4 of these powers into a "bundle" at a discounted price. When you come out with more powers, group those up too and call them "bundle #2" or whatever.I just thought of what else would make me consider buying the travel power - if they started grouping basically identical powers and giving a discount.
Own Beast Run? Buy Ninja Run for less, because it's just a cosmetic bonus at that point.
Same thing for Rocketboard and Magic Carpet.
That would make the Coyote shift a one time buy-in for future quadrupedal travel powers instead of an overpriced waste that could easily be replaced by something I like better in the future (like happened with the rocketboard I bought and the carpet that I would rather have).
As it stands I've bought none of them because:
a) the de-toggling thing instead of toggle suppression is annoying
and
b) I can't make up my mind which 1 power to get because it's just too many points to buy them all. I had waited for a sale on rocket board then they put out the carpet the same week it went on sale and I ended up getting neither because now I couldn't decide if I wouldn't rather have the carpet. >.>;
I'll be honest, I'm weak. Package them up for me so I get them all at a discounted price and I'm likely to buy it. -
I really liked this. I have to admit, I felt a little tightness in the heartstrings reading the last few lines.

Quote:The first stipend was given on the same day for everyone because if it wasn't then some people really would have gotten an extra one. Since the system started mid-month, if they opened by everyone getting the stipend on their bill date those who had a bill date in the first half of the month would have missed out on the September stipend.why?
first stipend was given the same day for everybody, not on billed date... so changing the date after that create inegality among players...
Explain me why you should have more point than Rhiana?
And don t tell me it s an exception... she is billed on 29 and you are billed on 1st... so you always have more points than her 28days a month. The actual delay just put the light on this issue.
Beginning in October, it should have been on your bill date because that's when you pay for the perks. The appearance of having more than someone else is superficial. If I am billed on the 1st and you are billed on the 30th, then it looks like I have more points than you for those 29 days; but the fact of the matter is that if we both cancelled our subscriptions on the day after our respective bill dates, we'd end with having received the same number of stipends. You just receive the perks when you pay for them. That is how it was described at first and that is how it should be.
The way it is now, with none of the dates tied to anything in particular it's hard to even keep track of if you've received everything on time because it's not clear when you should expect to see it.
Additionally, the way it stands you only have access to some of the benefits you paid for for part of the month. If your bill date is the 30th and you don't get your reward token until the 23rd then you only have access to whatever benefit it gives you for 7 days out of the month that you paid to have it. That seems a bit odd to me.
I sincerely hope that somewhere there is still effort being made to resolve this so that it all falls on the bill date like they originally said that it would. -
Quote:I noticed that the link which previously showed the gradual sync up schedule now just has a paragraph stating that whenever you received your points in November is when you'll receive them going forward. I was disconcerted by this, since the points date is now tied to nothing in particular. I'm beyond confused.Well it's after midnight -that makes it the 12th. No store points. My date falls on the 4th they took the money - we were told they would fall on the 11 th of the month and gradually synch up. Last month they fell on the 9th. So far nada- VIP?
At this point, all I want to know is: are they actually attempting to fix this so that it all applies at once (having heard the general outcry of unhappiness with the current system), or have the declared that it's all now working as intended and we should all just learn the new system? -
I'm no one official, but I think this is what happened:
Those of us who were subscribed before I21 are viewing the start of Freedom with the VIP Headstart on the 14th. Paragon is viewing it as when free-to-play actually started on the 28th. When Freedom officially launched (in their eyes) they reset everyone's vet reward date to that day, so if you had an active account before free-to-play became available, your vet reward date is now the 28th.
I would say, though, that if you were due to receive a new veteran badge under the old system between September 14 and September 28 but haven't gotten it, then you are probably owed a token. My guess is there was a glitch with the fact that they were technically using no system at all for those two weeks because they'd stopped the old veteran system but hadn't officially started the new Paragon Token system, since the new system wasn't planned to start counting until free-to-play was available. -
Quote:Did you receive a September token at launch? I didn't. I have 12 tokens. 1 for having an account at all. 8 for my previous 24month vet badges, 2 for the 2 year vet, and 1 for ever having bought a box. That's 12, therefore, no token for September. I also haven't yet gotten one in October. My bill date was the 4th, although I have no idea what my previous vet award date was. Either way, since we're back to the 14th (where feedeom started 14 Sept) I should have 1 by now, I would think. Interested to see where this is going.Zwill I am still thoroughly confused by when the reward token awards. I know the September token was awarded early with the launch of the VIP headstart, but I have not received an October token which I would assume would be for the Sept-Oct. month since it awards at the end of the paid time. But if the token awarded early was for the Sept.-Oct. period does this mean I won't get a token until November?
-
Still nothing here either, with a bill date of the 4th. However, I noticed that my actual billing on the 4th didn't go through until the afternoon, so it's possible we'll see a similar thing here. I'm cautiously optimistic.
I also notice in my billing summary that all the microtransactions associated with Freedom launch (i.e. the awarding of the 1600 points I had at launch) happened on the 13th and 14th, so I figure I'm going to wait that long before raising a ticket. If by the 14th I'm still missing my points and/or my token I'll be contacting support to find out what's going on.
(I have no idea what date my vet rewards were previously due on, but since the awarding of such things changed with Freedom launch, if I don't have a new token by the time Freedom has been out for a month and I've been subscribed since the outset, I feel it appropriate to research what's going on there.) -
I'm a fan of Zombie Man's list.
On the subject of consolidating the AT forums, I'm going to throw my hat in on support of leaving individual forums. I can see the appeal of grouping things into playstyles because that's how you've identified things in the game UI. However, if you do that I would use them as categories to finding the forum you want only. I would suggest that each archetype still have it's own actual forum. -
Glad to see something like this coming back soon. Out of curiosity, how long will the reference stay active? What I mean is:
Say I refer my friend the day this goes live, but he doesn't end up paying for VIP for another couple of months. Will this still activate, or does he have to go VIP within a certain length of time in order to make this work? -
I have quite a few friends who are going to be interested to hear about this. I'm really excited to be able to pass it on.

Yea, I'm aware of the 2 GR slots. Those were accounted for in my original 6 that I had prior to I21 release. I had 2 for vet status, 2 for GR, and those 2 thank yous. Hence now have 8 "Global Slots" is 2 extra somewhere, which is why I thought it wasn't the same thing.
-
Quote:I'd like to see a more definitive answer to what the "Global Slots" number represents. I too had been wondering if there was a way to see the number of redeemable character slots I still have available now. (One assumes it hasn't changed, but it'd be nice to know where to look.)I admit that the following is mostly a guess on my part, as I do not recall seeing anything in print clarifying this.
First, the (old) redeemable slots were not per server, they were per account. You just saw them on each server.
Second, you do have extra slots. Those are the "Global Slots" at the top of the character select screen. You currently have 5, and that happens to match what you claimed you had before Freedom.
Prior to I21 I had 6 to redeem. My "Global Slots" now is 8. I thought that was representing the number I'd have if I went Premium (2 that everyone gets + 6 I had earned/bought). I don't know where else the extra 2 came from otherwise. Also, I note that my husband's "Global Slots" is also 8 when I believe he had only 5 still redeemable prior to I21. (He doesn't remember, but I'm pretty sure it was only 5. It was definitely different than my 6 either way because he's spent at least one.)
If "Global Slots" does, indeed, represent what you'd have going Premium, then I'd suggest that the number of available redeemable slot also be represented somewhere. If "Global Slots" is meant to represent the number of redeemable slots you have, then I'd suggest a change in wording, since all the talk I've heard on panels and what I've read prior to I21 launch referred to the character slots you had as a Free/Premium player as global slots or global tokens.
