As long as you stay VIP, you have 12 base slots on each server. Any additional slots you buy/get reward you get to pick where they go.
If you drop down to Preem/Freem, you get to choose individual slots to unlock (but start with 2 + extra slots rewarded/bought). There's no 'global slot' type dealio that just floats between servers (and you can't transfer slots between servers).

If you mean slots you purchased/earned and then unlocked on Infinity, no, they didn't go global.

Well I'm still confused about character slots.
- I am a VIP player who returned to the game last month. Before Freedom Head Start began, I had five extra slot tokens available per server, which I never used. I don't even remember how I obtained them; they just showed up on the character select screen as "Redeemable Slots: 5". Now, however, I only have 12 slots per server available to me and zero extra slots available to redeem rather than five as before. Is this expected behavior or a bug?
. - According to my NCSoft master account I am considered a 4 year 6 month veteran. If I drop to Premium status, how many "global character slots" should I expect to have access to? If I understand the math correctly, it should be 6, shouldn't it? Yet on the character select screens it says "Global Slots: 5". Is there a hard cap of 5 for Premium players (prior to spending points to unlock more) or something?

Second, you do have extra slots. Those are the "Global Slots" at the top of the character select screen. You currently have 5, and that happens to match what you claimed you had before Freedom.

To see what you would get as a Premium, you pretty much have to become Premium, unfortunately.

Prior to I21 I had 6 to redeem. My "Global Slots" now is 8. I thought that was representing the number I'd have if I went Premium (2 that everyone gets + 6 I had earned/bought). I don't know where else the extra 2 came from otherwise. Also, I note that my husband's "Global Slots" is also 8 when I believe he had only 5 still redeemable prior to I21. (He doesn't remember, but I'm pretty sure it was only 5. It was definitely different than my 6 either way because he's spent at least one.)
If "Global Slots" does, indeed, represent what you'd have going Premium, then I'd suggest that the number of available redeemable slot also be represented somewhere. If "Global Slots" is meant to represent the number of redeemable slots you have, then I'd suggest a change in wording, since all the talk I've heard on panels and what I've read prior to I21 launch referred to the character slots you had as a Free/Premium player as global slots or global tokens.
It is interesting that you are seeing +2 Global Slots compared to your pre-Freedom unredeemed slot count. I am seeing the same thing. My Global Slots is listed as 5. Prior to the Freedom Head Start I had five redeemable slots, of which I had used two, leaving me with three.
I am not complaining, mind you, but I am curious as to the source/reason for the +2 Global Slots.

Pretty sure late in the game they added 2 more Global slot unlocks for people who purchased the GR box (IIRC -- could be a different purchase that was made).
In any case, the "Global slots" entry that you see up in the top-left of your server/character page IS the amount of character slots you currently have that can be used to unlock a slot on any server. The only thing that's changed about that between last week and this week is the place on the screen in which it is displayed (and, of course, the addition of the 2 extra slots).
I can't explain the person who thinks they have 3 more than before, that sounds like either a bug, or mistaken memory.

My purchase history is pretty straightforward: CoH in 09/04, CoV at release (I was a beta tester). And that's it. I stopped playing, and let my account lapse, prior to the addition of the Mission Architect. There's nothing in my purchase history that would account for Freedom awarding +2 slots for a previous purchase; like I said before I don't even know why I had 5 "redeemable slots" available prior to the release of Freedom (I just did, two of which I used just before the 13th).

There was a one-time grant of two extra global slots, IIRC, back when they first became available. As far as I know, they were granted to all non-trial accounts.
For example, as a 7 year vet I have 7 anniversary slots, 2 "thank you slots" and two GR slots that I've obtained. (plus the bought slots).

Yea, I'm aware of the 2 GR slots. Those were accounted for in my original 6 that I had prior to I21 release. I had 2 for vet status, 2 for GR, and those 2 thank yous. Hence now have 8 "Global Slots" is 2 extra somewhere, which is why I thought it wasn't the same thing.

I thought character slots on the servers were going to be global, and then were going to be able to put them anywhere. All the slots I had on Infinity are still stuck there. (I've been switching servers)
Was I mistaken?
I could have sworn they said we'd be able to shuffle them to where-ever when this launched.
