What will I do when CoX dies completely?
For what it's worth I figure CoH:Freedom has at least a few more years of life left before it's completely dead. A lot of things could happen before then, even the end of the world if you want to believe what the Mayans had to say about it. I figure there'll be something going on worth trying at that point regardless. *shrugs*

You know, EVENTUALLY you're going to die.
START PANICKING!
You know, that completely full tank of gas will eventually empty out.
TIME TO PULL OVER!
You know, somewhere, someone is WRONG ON THE INTERNET!
RRRRRRRAAAAAAGE!!!
In short, life is too damn short to go borrowing trouble.
Currently the game and Paragon have given us zero indication that they're going to be shuttering the service any time in the near future. Indeed, the game is ever-expanding.
Currently they're the 800 pound gorilla of the Superhero MMO market. Every other game in the genre is compared to CoH. A nearly 8 year old game. And in many categories CoH trounces even brand new stuff QUITE handily.
And with other MMOs like Evercrack coming up on Year 14, it shows that if a game can maintan a reasonable level of profitability, it can go on more or less indefinitely.

I was just expressing how much I love the game and the thought of having to look for something else kills me. That's all.

My personal little dream is that when the day finally comes that NCSoft finally decides that it's time to shut down City of Heroes, that the Titan Network is somehow able to convince them to transfer ownership of all data and assets. Not that the Titan Network is at all able to run the servers themselves, but... yeah... dream.
I can think of only 4 MMO's that have shut down
Motor City Online
Asheron's Call 2 (but the original is still around)
Star Wars (to make room for the new one)
and Tabula Rasa
of course Tabula Rasa was by the same company that runs CoX
but in general it is very cheap to run an MMO if you put minimal dev work into running it. So turning one off that has even a few thousand paying customers probably doesn't make much sense.

Hopefully by the time CoH closes, Paragon Studios will have launched their "Next-Gen MMO", a "project that is set to revolutionize the online multiplayer experience" and they work entirely on the City of franchise don't they? Just sayin'...

When CoH dies I too will die. I liked Ghost Widow so much as a character that I had my own soul bound to CoH, rather than Arachnos (since it is not real and I play heroes mostly).
Either Play City of Heroes 2 (come on, you know it's coming) or finally go outside. Your pick. I know which one I'd choose (SPOILER ALERT! it's not the one that involves trees).
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill
We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
Auto assault another NCsoft game shut down, also Matrix online shut down. I'm sure theres more but that's all that comes to mind at the moment.

Don't forget Paragon likely have CoH2 in the pipes. If the franchise itself looks sold that will probably be a good jump off point.
But as others have said, why worry about stuff that may not happen for a good long time?

I'll add The Sims Online to the 'came and went' list.

Matrix Online
SWG, as mentioned.
APB (kinda-sorta, later purchased and re-lauched.)
Hellgate: London (kinda-sorta-MMO-wannabe.)
Earth and Beyond
Wanted: Origin centric story arcs.
If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.
i think i'll take up juggling chainsaws. More accurately i think i'll make something to juggle the chainsaws for me.
Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?

I still have fond memories of Asheron's Call 2 and Hellgate: London.
Ah...
But to the OP, I think I'll agree with what DarkGob has said.

I played one other game for about 2 months, then I have played CoX since i3 (with a short break). I love it. I love almost everything about it. What will I do when I have to move on? Will another game ever be fun for me?
Just throwing it out there.
