What will I do when CoX dies completely?

I hope Arcanaville runs a server of it if that sad day comes.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

You should get a Layla doll of your favorite characters then, at least you'd have something to take away if/when this game shuts down.

Forget what will I do if CoH dies. What will I do if EVERYTHING dies?

= I haven't had power since Thursday morning. Ice storm in Western Washington has made a lot of branches break and whole trees fall over from the weight of ice, and where I live there are a LOT OF TREES. (One barely missed my car!) I also live on a hill, and last night I had to park 3 miles away from home and walk up the hill, and when I got there there was still no power.

I made a fire, listened to the radio (my Tivoli iPAL can go for hours w/out recharging), and read a book. (Snuff by Terry Pratchett). But... NO COH!!!!

I'm posting this from work of course. I probably won't have power when I go home, maybe not for another couple of days....

Organica, I live in Lakewood, WA and didn't have tv/internet for about that long, even though I didn't lose power! It was very interesting, how attached I feel to the game...I think I was suffering withdrawl, not being able to play. I sure hope you got your power back now!

Seattle WA here, definitely not as bad where I live as what you're describing. But tbh I think it's being super overhyped. Western Washington just isn't used to getting snow and whenever we get it everyone completely explodes in an uproar about how its the most catastrophic devastation since 1652 or whatever, if this was on the east coast no one would care and life would continue as normal. Whenever we get snow here everything has to stop cold turkey.

Since I know this game will never die, I don't have to think about it much (unless, of course, it is an end of the world scenario, and at that point I won't be so concerned).

But if I DID entertain the possibility of the game ending, I would be expecting a CoH2.

It'll just sleep, until the stars are right again.

I have no doubt. The game is going as strong, if not STRONGER than ever right now.

You know, I wish all these MMOs that have closed their doors would open up legal server emulation for fans who want to keep playing. Once they close up shop, it's not like the private servers will be taking anything away from them. :-/

Well I still don't have power (at a friend's house tonight) and they say I won't have power until maybe Tuesday. My apartment is dark and cold.

My friend from upstate New York wore his "I survived the ice storm March 1991" today. ^_^

Let's see I quite Everquest to play this game and THAT game is STILL going. So I'll be playing this one for quite some time. Paragon Studios is showing no signs of slowing down new content, btw, if anything its coming out a bit faster. When content slows down thats a sign that things might be tight, but not the end. EQ just launched a new expansion and has a few more planned.

Especially if like CoX it has long since paid back its original investment. The ones that get shut down are usually the newer ones that look like they'll never pay back what was spent to make them. Long before they shut the game down they'll go to maintenance mode, just letting the game run with no new content (barring anything the players make for AE) or updates; just running the servers doesn't cost much.

for me, i'll play something else, i have 5 bethesda mod-splosion games installed on my pc that will have content for a long time. have enough rpgs for the pc, console and ds to last years on single playthroughs, and also provide significant differences on repeated play throughs, so really, gaming is, if anything, overwhelming and coh, while great, is just a part of that. heck, i could probably burn half a year on just dark souls new game +runs
