I wouldn't read to much into that cover page yet. Everything you say could be true or they could have designed it to honor a fallen hero.

Dude, one loading screen isn't going to change much. The Devs have SAID that *someone* will be removed from the game, and that it will take some time.
Sure, it might NOT be Statesman. But...eh, whatever. *shrug*

So you kill your most iconic hero in franchise to remove him from game, then honour his death with a login screen?

I believe Positron has commented that it IS Statesman who is dying in the SSA, and that he will be removed from the game in most instances in a later issue as it is "lots of work" to do so. - Found his post, added it below.

The devs said a few weeks ago that a lot of the promotional artwork for the game would still feature Stetsman, as he's the iconic hero of the game.
According to Positron, he's also still going to feature in the tutorial.

I hope we get a replacement Super Captain America Man. I understand Statesman has drawn a lot of ill will due to being the in-game avatar of some guy no one likes anymore, but the local Justice League needs to have a big blue boy scout at the lead. That's how you do Justice Leagues.

Yeah...ever since I head that Statesman was the one getting offed I had the feeling it was a "He is dead, ohhh no!" Then when the last part of the arc rolled around we would miraculously bring him back to life. Why? Because that is the cheapest/laziest way to do it and that seems to be the MO or MMOs.

There was this one thread on some comics board, I think it was one of the big ones, where they were just horrified. 'This is completely inappropriate!' and 'Now I know how women feel!' and 'This is unnaturally huge!' (guy was perfectly average)

Im sure he will die in SSA#5 then in SSA#7 he will return.
Thats why we got that new login screenie with him alone.
I wanted him dead, and some shacking of CoX status quo, removing him from the game would made some changes...
