I am still skeptical that they will keep em dead more than 3-6 months and pull out a clone or stuck in some temporal loop excuse to explain what happened to him and why he is back. But then again, if they do keep him dead it would go along with the Time after Time storyline for Patron arc.

Dont get me wrong I love the drawing in the login screen.
I just hope this is more than cheap marketing and he dies and stays dead for a while.
Wouldnt mind if Hero1 is resurrected and takes his place with a new updated costume.
I can imagine the final NC quotes now:

"His soul has been eaten as magic fuel and no longer exists!"

I'm sure there's going to be a statue of him somewhere, and he will be mentioned in a significant number of new story arcs. I can guarantee that he's not going to die and just be immediately forgotten about by the other NPCs in the game.

Last he was seen, Vanguard was working on trying to cure him of the Riktization he went through, as per the Mender Ramiel arc.

the pic is great, but am i crazy, or does he kind of have skinny legs for a guy who is supposed to have a muscular build? Might be the perspective, but they just look like they were more muscular in other pics.
