Did Titan weapon leak?

As the title suggest's, did TW get activated before time on some accounts?

I have seen various people already running around with 50's, now I know in this day an age with the various PL or farming tools within game that this is not a big achievement anymore, but I happened to look up a players info and was surprised to see that they had achieved over 900 badges, in 24 hours that would have to been nigh impossible I would have thought, so my only conclusion was they had it before.

Too many 50's to list here's a few you may know.
Slazenger, Area51, Area53, Area54, Erruption, Mind Plague, Thresher, Sheath, Broadside, Debt

It did leak briefly (only for a few minutes I think), several weeks ago. A few players purchased it before it was taken back down, and they were allowed to keep their characters. A few weeks still seems fast for 900+ badges, although I'm not a badge person, maybe that's normal if you're dedicated to it.

It was briefly available on November 1. It was only available for a few minutes.

Considering there are potentially over 400 badges in exploration alone (which also grants some accolades), a bunch of badges granted just by dint of a long-time account (veteran badges, account-wide AE badges, account-wide event badges, etc. etc), and given how easy it is to get achievement/accomplishment badges, a few weeks isn't that hard for 900+ badges.

You also could have seen a dev on their civilian account who used their dev powers to boost themselves up.

If the person your talking about begins with letter S . . . then yes he did get it during the small window . . . . and yes he got all those badges, the dude is unreal at collecting badges!

They are not supposed to use their Dev accounts to help their civilian accounts.

I can see how someone could possibly go from 0 to 900 badges in 4 or 5 weeks, but that person would have to be pretty serious about it to say the least.

Being a full vet (with previous AE badges, etc.) will now get you about 55 badges as soon as you create a new character. Then as Aggelakis said there's about 400 Explores and 25 Histories you could get in a few hours (after spending the time to shift alignments of course). You could probably get around 150 more badges within maybe a week from the Accomplishments/Achievements/Accolades groups. There's probably another 150 you could get relatively quick from the Defeat/PvP/Gladiator groups. You could probably get another 50 from the Inventions/Market groups in another few days or so if you threw a few 100 million INF at it for speed. And you might be able to get another 50 out of the Ouroboros/AE groups if you spent some days on those. Basically the only ones you couldn't really get within that timeframe would be the Event and Day Job badges.

So yes while getting 900 badges might be "possible" in 4 or 5 weeks the person working on that would probably have to be spending a solid 8-12 hours a day on it at the very least and/or maybe have a group of other players specifically helping with the effort. More power to them I guess.

As someone else said--that's not supposed to happen.

As Damz says, though, if it was on Union and the person's global name begins with "s", then yeah, he's KINDA serious about badges (no, it's not me). So serious that the main Union badge hunter channel has his name all over it.

Well I know there are people like that out there. A couple of weeks after Going Rogue went live I saw a Praetorian native (with the Praetorian-only badges) in Steel Canyon who had something like 750 badges. Having lots of badges is impressive enough but even I consider the people who like to "Power Badge" (the badging version of Power Leveling) to be a different kind of critter altogether.

I know one person on Virtue had a TW character that I teamed with over two weeks ago. They were nearing 50, and we were on some Task Force, I forget which.

That would have been the first accidental leak.

The leaked version of Titan weapons was actually even further behind the version that was on test at that particular point in time and had a lot of bugs.

It still had Build Up instead of Gain Momentum and if used on a female character, they used the male voice clips when using the weapon set.

Badge Earned: Wing Clipper

A few weeks ago 12 people were able to purchase it.

We called them the Dirty Dozen.

Also, a Dev/Paragon/NCsoft employee is never supposed to do anything like that on their personal accounts. I'm pretty sure that we all value our jobs more than that.

I also heard that some people bought Staff Melee as well? Is this true?

Did someone get sent over the "My Little Pony Online" development team for six months for letting TWs slip?

Which would seem to imply that the development/mod/GM/community character modification tools can (theoretically, at the risk of their job) be used by them on their civilian accounts.

Which means that they can either use them regardless of what account they're on in-game, or that the tools are offline and affect the character database directly. I sincerely hope it's the latter.

The GM tools I'm sure can affect other people's accounts -- GMs kind of need to be able to do that in order to do their jobs. Chances are it's online rather than offline -- directly editing backend databases is a risky prospect in a complex system like an MMO.

I'd guess that the access that devs / CSRs have includes that as well as more.

I think that what Zwillinger was implying was something like one (on their work account) using a "Grant powerset to this other account" ability on their personal account.

I would certainly hope that use of dev commands on live servers is logged and audited. Not only in case one goes rogue (pun intended), but to guard against someone accidentally or intentionally gaining more access than they're supposed to have.

If it is true it's unlikely they would admit it until -after- it gets released for everyone else.

The only reason it was acceptable for Zwillinger to admit the TW "dirty dozen" now is that TW is finally available to everyone so the chances of anyone being too upset about it after-the-fact are minimal. But if Zwillinger were dumb enough to say something like, "Oh, and BTW there are like a dozen other people playing with Staff Melee right now too." there'd be a huge uproar on the forums with people whining "ME TOO" and "Release it NAO!"

No I believe that the tools can be used only on dev enabled accounts but that the effects can be applied to another character, this is how a dev/mod/gm might re-award lost xp/slots/IOs to a player that has experienced a legitimate bug.

Dev cheating would involve logging onto a dev account and modifying a personal character on a personal account using the dev account.

Not that any of our devs/mod/gm would do such a thing

^^ This one. The accounts themselves are flaged to allow certain dev abilities.

They can not grant their personal accounts (or anyone's account) crafted io's from their dev ones where they can create them at will. They can not auto lvl a toon for themselves though again it is possible to do that on their dev account etc.etc.

I remember a couple of years back, some of our beta characters ended up flagged as GM characters. Which was pretty fun

So I don't know about account-wide flags, but you can certainly set it on individual characters.

A bunch of the design team called them the "Titan Twelve". I liked the ring to that better.

The powerset was pretty borked for those 12 players, and we were not in any rush to fix it, so kudos to someone who stuck with it and collected all those badges.

I remember that Titan Weapons leak... we were chatting in one of the Virtue global channels and someone noticed that Titan Weapons were up in the store. The funny part was that a dev was playing on his personal account and happened to be in that channel and he immediately switched to his dev account and yanked it from the store, which is why it was only up for a very short time.

Maybe even...the Teen Titans..?!?

And this is how the rushers/exploiters (yes not really exploiting the system but...) get rewarded...they get "kudos"....

When do regular joe-shmoe heroes get "kudos"?

And don't give me the fake, cruddy version of "thanks buddy"...

So how did you know a dev was playing their personal account?
