What Movie Should Freitag Watch This Weekend?

Ad Astra

Posted

It has been brought to our attention that our very own Freitag is what one might call cinematic-ally challenged. He needs our help ladies and gentlemen.

We've compiled a list of movies for Freitag to watch over the next several weekends. Note, these are all movies that he has not seen.

  • Back to the Future (1,2 and 3)
  • Weird Science
  • Breakfast Club
  • Goonies
  • Swingers
  • Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
  • Swingers
  • Poltergeist
  • Exorcist
  • Little Shop of Horrors
  • Men in Tights
  • Spaceballs
  • Clue
  • Legend
  • Blazing Saddles
  • Sixteen Candles
  • Pretty In Pink
  • Legend
  • Beetlejuice
  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off
  • Forrest Gump
  • Nightmare on Elm Street
  • Friday the 13th (IRONIC HUH?)
  • Hellraiser
  • Romancing the Stone
What are we missing here? Ask if he's seen something not included in the list and he'll respond here. (Note, we're trying to limit it to 80's/early 90's seminal movies)

Please, help us to introduce Freitag to new cinematic horizons!

Does that mean he's seen 'em or he's not seen 'em or has no interest in seeing them? Kinda confusing.

Wow, there's some hella awesome list goin' on here...

But I didn't yet see:

Better Off Dead

so I'm gonna say it and see what happens.

---

Edit:

Ooh, no, wait... these all hit me after I hit "post"...

Grumpy Old Men
Grumpier Old Men
China Syndrome
12 Angry Men
Barbarella
Flash Gordon (Ahaaaa..!)
Jewel of the Nile
Iron Eagle
Officer and a Gentleman
Enemy Mine
Brainstorm
Dreamscape
Footloose
Brian's Song
1984 (made, interestingly enough, in 1984)

And of course:
Transformers: The Movie

---

No, wait, these too:

Heavy Metal
Rocky Horror Picture Show (At Midnight, with Audience Participation, of course. The movie itself sucks.)
Shock Treatment (because you just gotta do that if you did Rocky... but there's no AP. )

And some shorts while I'm at it:
Special Delivery (odd Canadian short, only because it was before Rocky in a theater I was frequenting back when... It's... odd.)
405
Recorded Live

And a couple of cool IMAXs:
The Dream is Alive (BEST shuttle movie evar.)
Everest
The Ring of Fire.

Man, if you've not seen half of these... what the heck, dude?

---

I'm gonna mention it, but only because it's got Ann Reinking dancin' in that yellow dress in it, and Carol Burnett, Tim Curry, and Bernadette Peters just chews that scenery up as the bad people:

Annie

/And all if those others in the posts up there...
//If I said I saw most of those, and liked them... and these too... would that make my tastes 'eclectic'?
///I'm goin' with 'yes'.
////Oh, ok, the Autogyro is the other reason I like Annie. So there.

Wow!
By "Little Shop Of Horrors" do you mean the original (black and white and not a musical)? (Oh, 80s/90s... c'mon... you have to see the original!)
That is a fabulous comedy!

I'm curious... have you seen The City Of Lost Children/La cité des enfants perdus?

Anyway...
I'd choose The Goonies first. Don't know why, but I'm sticking to that.
Then work in the original Friday The 13th.

Wait a minute.... Is this some sort of subliminal tactic to push a favorite film? You have 'Swingers' listed twice!
