Apocalypse Now This one either.
Reservoir Dogs I can say I've seen this ;-).
It also bears mentioning that I am not good at watching horror/scary movies. Alien is really about as far as I can go into scary stuff. I'm a pansy :0(.

I like how people can't read. 80's/early 90's seminal movies. Some Like it Hot? Dr. Horrible?

Dang, I keep thinking of more.

Dr. Strangelove; or How I learned to Stop Worrying and love the Bomb.
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Psycho (the 60s version)
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
The Hustler
Judgement at Nuremberg

I'll stop here.....

I think the only one I've mentioned that would count as a horror/scary movie would be Psycho. Some of the others are suspense/drama.

Yeah, 'cause there were no seminal movies before 1980, only penny operated kinetoscopes of people boxing.

I'm pretty sure most of the seminal works in the world happened only once internet became extant

Yes, but movies in general is a list of thousands. A more specific list is easier to manage and discuss, and above all else, watch. Which is what we want to have happen.

The Crow

Clerks

Mall Rats

Chasing Amy

Dogma

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

Ok...some of those get more recent, but they are all part of the set.

As people have stated, it would be unmanageable for me to watch all the good movies worth watching out there in a reasonable period of time. This whole business became apparent upon my seeing a picture of the guy who played Marty Mcfly (sp?) in Back to the Future, and I said "Who is that?" Luckily, I have super-reflexes and was able to dodge most of the things thrown at me. The result? This thread. Hence we are gravitating towards movies of the same "generation" as Back to the Future.

There isn't an old one that I know of, but never know.

And how could you no recognize Micheal J. Fox? Next you'll be telling us you don't know who Molly Ringwald is or Matthew Broderick is.

I think a poll should be created so we can vote on which ones are must see and which ones are must avoid. For instance from the above lists I would put Ghostbusters as must see and Howard the Duck as must avoid. This can narrow down the huge swarm.

Maybe rank our top and bottom 5 of the ones we've seen.

I've seen everything everybody listed except for about half of Durrakens list although I've meant to get around to watching those. And looking at your taste Durraken I insist you check out the 97 move Drive. And Shaolin Soccer but you've probably already seen that one.

Anyone working for a studio producing a Tsoo-infested level 50 zone needs to see Big Trouble in Little China

And if we're talking off-the-wall 80s genre movies, you also need to add Rustler's Rhapsody

Statesmonkey Sez: Lighten up! It's a game, for Lincoln's sake!
Also: Six years of casual play begins to look an awful lot like one year of hardcore play.
