Expendables and... The Hostel! Last cartoon I liked was the Simpsons, and Family Guy for a bit (but those are not kid shows).

Then I saw the two first episodes of My Little Pony and found it entertaining... And then I watched the 13th episode because I was told the show gets better after half the first season... Next thing I know, I watched all 36 episodes in 1 week and I'm 4 episodes of Dexter behind, the only series I watch the day it comes up (or used to lol).

It was like...

lol, I got ya

Im not hating, just saying...not sure I get it.
There is that moment when you, as an adult male fan of My Little Pony, realize that you are, in fact, discussing which of these magical pastel colored ponies wore the prettiest dress to the Grand Galloping Gala with several other adult male My Little Pony fans... And that you all have convincing arguments for each. It's the Mythbusters moment, if you will. The moment where you take a step back and think "What the heck am I doing?" and then go back to doing it anyway.

So what you're saying is that next you'll be shooting cannons off into neighboring houses?

There's a pony for that.

I am beginning to suspect that there are very few things that you can't find a pony themed clip as an answer for...

But no, I just continue talking ponies with people that want to talk ponies. The "cannonball through a house" moment is when you talk ponies with someone who really doesn't want to talk ponies. You just have to love and tolerate those.

Im actually scared to check out any of the MLP episodes for fear of losing my sanity.
I submit the following image of Archer in anticipation of its return to FX next month.
Its raunchy versus cute, but it is hilarious out the gate.

No cute cannons...only RPGs, C4 and the consideration of tactical nuke usage.

Not a stretch by any means, since the story artist for the The PowerPuff Girls developed the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series.

I'm someone who appreciates the show but isn't obsessed with it. It's designed for little girls, but it's also really well done. I think it's great that there's a show that presents six female characters with very different personalities (bookworm, party girl, shy girl, tomboy, fashion maven & hard working outdoorsy type) and presents them all positively without one being THE ideal. And I'm glad there's a "for girls" cartoon that's actually not lame.

Still, there are other things out there that cater to my personal tastes better. Obviously City of Heroes is one. Cartoon-wise I'm already following Thundercats, Young Justice, Avengers and Voltron Force, and Green Lanter will probably demand my attention. I've also recently been trying to get caught up with Doctor Who--I'm still at the stage where I miss Eccleston but I'm trying to give this Tennant guy a chance. Add that none of this pays the bills, and bronyism just isn't going to happen for me. But I still get it and respect people who appreciate a very well done series. Plus all the images are a lot of fun.

Speaking of which, I'm surprised this one hasn't made an appearance yet.

Ah, yes, the instant before the ponies show the power of Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, Honesty, Loyalty, and of course, Magic can do when focused into a rainbow colored coherent beam of destruction. Ask Nightmare Moon about that. Or Discord. The first being the corrupted princess of the night, and the other being, well, Q. As a half pony, half dragon thing. Yes, they got the same guy who played Q in Star Trek to voice Discord, and it's awesome.

Friendship is Magic doesn't have that many villains, though, but you got to hand it to the ponies. When a villain does show up, it gets defeated. None of this "let the bad guy escape for later" going on. Nightmare Moon got redeemed, and now goes as Princess Luna again, and Discord... Well, he did say "Friend me!" Some villains just have to learn to watch what they say, don't they?

But all in all, it's actually not these scenes of ponies being awesome that's the fun of the show. I actually prefer it when they're being adorable and girly. I think a lot of the fun is that it's My Little Pony, and it's good. The novelty of that is just fun. It's about time, too, Transformers has had several good cartoons, so why shouldn't the ponies get a crack at it?

I agree, the characters' personalities is something that reminds me of why series like Friends and Buffy were successful - after some time, you ended up liking all of them (or almost) after some time even if in the beginning you think 'this one isn't a main character, he/she sucks' (like Friends, in the beginning I thought Joey and Phoebe were silly stereotypes, but it was not long till I started finding them interesting and as important as the others).

That may explain why older guys like it, the messages and plot are cutesy and all, and even make you feel good sometimes, but if you look at youtube short clips they're mostly focused on moments that one of the ponies do something funny that's related to their personalities. I typed 'rarity' in youtube (ya know, since rarity is a common word unlike the other ponies' names) and one of the first suggestions was 'rarity worst possible thing' - one of her funny moments on the show when she freaks out for silly stuff and she has to explain that in the third time it's about something that's actually important. This vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbXh7ZipUuQ

The fact that they keep mocking each other's personality treats and even mock themselves are funny to me too. And the episodes that are dedicated to one of the ponies, where in most of them some pony breaks down and freaks out because her best aspects are put to the test, or ignored, or whatever, made me like them more. The episode with the scene I linked above is the one that made me finally like Twilight Sparkle because I kinda related with her freaking out and going nuts for a not so important thing (and everyone laughing at her) because she is too self-demanding on herself, and... I'm like that

Since I started watching it 2 weeks ago and 10 days later I watched all 36 episodes so far (lol), I was watching it (and enjoying I admit) but something in my head wasn't making sense - 'wth I'm watching a show full of Ponies and I don't like cartoons', so I watched with more criticism than usual. After I resumed watching the 'lost' Dexter episodes, the only series I've been seeing regularly, I stated noticing some characters are really shallow or I'm fed up with them - a criticism I saw a lot on the interwebs but never cared because I like the series. Sounds weird but My Little Pony made me look more at the other show I like as a whole.

Alright guys, I've broken down.

You guys have gotten me to start posting pony pictures.

Looks like friendship really IS magic.

Am I part of the circle yet?

My only theory at this point is that the mods enjoy this thread too much to lock it.

In this video they show how the Pony madness started (also, something I didn't know, 4chan actually banned users for posting too many ponies and because of that, users created ponychan - no I haven't been there lol).

And...

Here's an awesome video! But I'm gonna be nice and warn you that you'll have to watch it till the end if you click on this one... (And yes it has ponies).

/But I still ain't watchin' the actual show.
//I can see how fun the Ponies can be to play with on videos though...

Just started watching MILP and one thing got me.

There's a scene where one of sideline ponies goes:
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
and the other replies
"I think so but why do they call it a flea market if it doesn't sell fleas?"

That gave me pause, a Pinky and the Brain reference, really? That wasn't expected, even after seeing the Benny Hill chase scene.
