I do know quite a few people , myself included did say they'ed be voting with their dollars and avoiding purchasing the gunslinger pack which seems much more sensible then ragequiting .

Heck you even told folks that if they didn't like it not to buy it I belive , granted I think you also said something about not complaining too .

While I wish the slider went smaller as well, one has to realize this game doesn't do adolesents very well, as in not at all.

My only problem has been the "sexist" comment. Which is what a lot of this started out as.

It wasn't something simple as "Gawd! I hate this set for females!" (which I can see!) "Make it look like the male Gunslinger, and THEN you'll have my money." I'd never have had a problem.

But no, a lot of it came down to "Sexist!" and saying speaking of trends, that have been shown not to be trends (yet anyways).

The saloon girl outfit is nice, but a lot of people wanted to make a female gunslinger. Especially when the set is called "gunslinger".

I really thing that covers about 95% of all the hullabaloo over this set.

I do not like cheesecake...

But I do like pie....

I like all different kinds of pie....

But I don't want pie for every single meal...

If I were to have pie for every single meal, I don't think I'd like it as much.
I might even *gasp* get tired of pie.

So, in order to keep pie special and enjoyable, I prefer to consume it in moderation.

...wut?

I wouldn't quit over something like that.

I HAVE dropped my sub, but that's because;
1) I have no time at the moment thanks to Uni
2) I need to conserve money (again, Uni)
3) I have other games I play far, far more frequently (Skyrim)
4) I'd hit a rut with CoH anyway and was taking a break

This has nothing to do with ragequitting. This DOES have a lot to do with art direction, and even more-so with making the point that there WAS feedback during Beta. It was ignored, nearly totally. So it was high time someone made a point of saying 'Do you want any feedback whatsoever, or are we going back to Emmertism here?'

That's still not the same as ragequitting.

Good thing the cheesecake has been in moderation then.

Uhh...
No, no it really didn't start like that. In fact, what it started with WAS "Gawd! I hate this set for females! Make it look like the male Gunslinger, and THEN you'll have my money." That was pretty much the entire point of the original point of the original thread. Because the Saloon Girl outfit looked NOTHING like a Gunslinger outfit.

'Sexist' and that whole argument came in MUCH later. And then people latched onto that as their strawman argument later still.

This is the Original Post and thread. I said 'sexified' once, which those costumes are. Not once was 'sexist' mentioned.

So, please, stop making up 'facts' please.

FWIW there aren't a lot of things you specifically have said that I disagree with. But that is also why I rarely had much to say about your posts. A lot of what else was said was much more divisive. So while you may not have made that argument yourself, a lot of people did, and that is what many of us are responding to. Like many threads, where it started and where it ended up are two wildly different places. There were continual, overt, pointed statements about sexism, prostitution, strippers, oppression, victimization, and countless other loaded terminology.

So, yes, I edited the post slightly, taking out the Celestial armour because it's not a paid for booster. It's a Vet reward.

So, we have a chunk of boosters with specific themes in them at the end. I also don't see the CoT pack as counting, for the simple reason that we knew exactly what was coming in M/F divide. We only had to look at the NPCs to know. There was no surprises or anything like that.

So, for complete sets we have Steampunk, then Barbarian and then Gunslinger.

Steampunk was mostly fine with a 'feh, no jacket' which was a major complaint from the Magic Pack two entire years prior. Surely they should have noticed that back then? Apparently not.
Then came Barbarian, with the first 'This is a bit silly' moment with thigh high, high heeled boots and furry edged skirts and the like.
And then we got Gunslinger. With all that entailed.

That's three complete, themed and paid for packs in a row. That's not 'misrepresenting' anything, really.

Also, Rian, would it seriously kill you to use paragraphs or basic capitalisation? Walloftext is not a pretty thing.
The question is whether or not the paid packs were back to back sexy options. cot still counts, regardless of what we saw or not. had you looked in pc gamer, you also would have known what the female gunslinger outfit looked months before beta, at least from the waist up. But regardless of that, Calling them back to back is inaccurate.

As for writing stylistic tips, sometimes the posts are typed in a stream of consciousness manner, Ill try to clean them up more. now about the lines of all caps, 4chan memes, bleeped out profanity and overuse of "smegging" in your posts. And, as often happens when one criticizes another person's grammar, its capitalization.

Also, you are calling someone on hyperbole? mr. steampunk pack is an "utter failure in design"? Your use of hyperbole is on the exact same level as bad's, your posting styles are actually amazingly similar.

Count me in as a mom who is more conservative at this point in her life.

I could care less about what others in the game are wearing, be it almost nothing, or totally covered. I'm not playing those characters.

I'm also *not* against the revealing, frilly, feminine stuff. There's also a good argument there that Frilly/Feminine does not have to include revealing as well, but I'll leave that to others. I love many of the feminine pieces and use them, covering up skin with tights and other pieces where I can.

My problem is the Gunslinger set having nothing 'gunslinger' for females. Plain and simple.

I don't understand those here who keep accusing us of being prudish, or that we're accusing the designers of being sexist, etc. Desiring to create female characters that are dressed more masculinely, or conservatively female is hardly prudish.

There has not been a single person here who has decried that all sexualized pieces should be removed. Not one.

Now, if I created a frumpy character and stood in Atlas, pointing at all the painted Jezebels running around and hassling them, *THEN* feel free to call me prudish. :P

Otherwise, can we stop derailing things by dragging up such hyperbole?

I have to echo what others have said. Sure, we have some options, but it gets tiring having to resort to those same options over and over when there just isn't anything else conservative being put out to supplement those old options.

One could argue easily that cheesecake can be created with what's already in the game, so why do we need more? Why does conservative get told to 'suck it up' and be accused of trying to ruin the fun?

Hmmm...I didn't think I've been against the idea of more conservative outfits. I also haven't been against the whole "The outfit isn't very Gunslinger" in fact, I've agreed with that comment.

Though I do think a lot of the pieces made available can enhance a conservative look.

Because I've watched plenty of animes where the females breasts defy gravity (seriously, watch Voltage Fighter Gowkaiser...they go in two opposite directions when she shakes her head)

Then again, of the comics I read where women have those boots, they tend to fly or hover more than walk, and the manga...it's pretty much Shonen-ai. (Or high fantasy)

At least they fixed the female taunt voice to be different than the male taunt voice on several of the powersets. That scared me the first time I made a small petite female tank and hit taunt, only to get a beefy male voice coming out of her.

These threads may as well get their own forum by this point.

Anyways...Nothing wrong with being into sexy outfits on sexy girls. That sort of thing helps sell a game. However girls should get something that make them feel less like eye candy if they just want to play the game without feeling like they're on a cat walk.

To introduce a little personal conjecture, it seems to me another big reason the Gunslinger thing blew up was due to the large thread that existed while it was on beta that received no developer attention. What makes me question the release of Gunslinger isn't what it did or did not contain, but rather that the forums had to explode for a red name to finally take notice at what anyone was saying about these costume packs.

One last bit to consider - despite the rapid fire heels and corsets we've been seeing, it's just as likely the direction of costumes has been steered by the marketing end of game design. From Steampunk -> Gunslinger, we've been seeing costume sets (among many other things) hit the market hand over fist, where super boosters were relatively few and far between by sheer comparison. Not that I'm trying to make excuses, but the old adage "sex sells" wasn't just conjured out of thin air. What did Noble Savage say? The turnaround on creating these things is about 6 weeks, no? Well, the time table fits pretty well. If that's what people are buying, I can't really say I blame them from a purely financial standpoint.

Anyway, as you were.

What, you want me to get banned for not bleeping out profanity? And 'smeg' is a general light cuss that doesn't really mean much, other than an expression of exhasperation.

Also also, I posted this;

Sadly, as most know, this isn't the first time this utter failure in design has come about. In fact, it's been with us for some time now;

So, either you're just looking for stuff to try and make your point and massacring my posts in the process, or just not getting the point of them.

Too lazy to quote, but being called sexist (saw a lot of stuff about it being a loaded word) isn't actually a huge insult. It's not like you get a big red 'S' branded on your forehead. It's just a description of something that's not exactly permanent. I mean, it's not a great thing to be, don't get me wrong, but it also shouldn't be treated as if it shuts the whole conversation down.

Anyway. Anyway.

If they do make a crotch slider, I will be compelled to make Lord Thrustington and I will be banned for life.
