Reasons to Buy the German Shepherd...

I have read several complaints about the expense of the new vanity pet German Shepherd. Here are a few of my thoughts on what might make the price tag a little more acceptable...

* The Devs may eventually introduce Furby dynamics by which two or more German Shepherds in the same area will recognize one another and commence to butt-sniffing, playing and/or growling over territory.

* In PvP zones the G.S. still can't attack your enemies but it CAN target them to hump their legs as long as they are standing still.

* The perfect companion to your new Bob Barker tribute character.

* New "seeing eye dog" costume pieces! Automatically goes into guide dog mode when it's master is using the Walk emote.

* New idle emotes when simply standing around... growl at stranger, sniff crotch, mark territory...

* Has a random chance per summoning of giving its master the "Timmy has fallen down a well" mission.

* Will chase any character using Animal-Cat parts incessantly until they climb an available tree.

* Random Boss bad guys will now randomly say the line "And I would have gotten away with it too.. if it hadn't been for those meddling heroes and their stupid dog!" upon being thwarted.

* The dog is still incapable of attacking... its fleas however are cybernetic nanites capable of dealing Nuke-level damage over time and immobilization due to severe itching versus any enemy who targets an attack on their meal cart.

* In-game advertising deals now allow you to get costume codes for your dog allowing it to look like Lassie, Benji, Bolt or Dyno-Mutt.

Nope, still unacceptable.

Though I think you can't come up with a similar list for Shadowy Presence at 60 Paragon Points.

Do they actually sell that in the market for 60 points? I'd pay 50 for the dog but I wouldn't pay 1 for Shadowy Presence.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

I file this whole concept into the "well... if it makes money for the game, I'm ok with it" catagory. I do, however, find myself using this logic an awful lot lately.

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

I just hope this lil 'interesting' add-on's bring some more developers to the teams so they can add something a lot more 'meaningful'.....

While that is in the eye of the beholder, I completely agree with the opinions that the cost for the pooch is too high.

Yes, 60 points for Shadowy Presence.

I guess it is better than what they were trying out in Open Beta (edit: 200 Paragon Points before I21 launch), but yeah.

That's how I feel about all content about level 35, MM's, Brutes, Stalkers, the whole Redside, Badges, Accolades, Beam Rifle, etc

I bet 80% of the game is of no interest to me. But I bet it is of interest to someone who pays to play.

Then next week they can introduce the Bob Barker costume change power for 8000 points.

Steelclaw, I am shocked! You missed the most obvious:

New costume creator options to add makeshift capes and masks to pets, with 'Day Job' listed as Best Friend or Feline Overlord.

bought it for the lulz w/ my monthly points

I have to agree, personally i jumped up in joy when i saw it. Sadly as many have pointed out, some more options or more ... usefullness .. would have been nice, especially since it costs 500 points.

Some very weak attack, dog variations, random emotes/badges for having it out... Something ... extra?

That said, the dog looks great, its random animations look great. And i realy realy hope this is their first step into more pets into the store. If they ever bring in a wolf, even if it has this "lack" of options, i would defo buy it!

All in all, its a good addition, people enjoy it. So a big thumbs up to any Dev, should they read this.

It would be nice if we didn't receive the pet in a E-mail, but rather have to go to a pet store to claim it. Maybe if more pets are published that could be a possibility.... maybe??

Maybe when it goes on sale I might get one....

That would introduce a "suspension of disbelief" problem. I'll believe that you can fly, shoot radiation beams from your hands, or turn into a stone monstrosity; but I can't believe a cat will follow you around loyally.

Pet store? I much prefer the idea of adopting unwanted German Shepherd pets from players who have left the game.

My cats are as bad as my dog when it comes to following me around "loyally"...

Outside the house, my cat comes more often when I call her than when I call any of my dogs.
