It's a system designed to make money.

That said, I'm keeping mine.

They also recently released a pet for $10 that was tradeable, as a hedge against gold farmers. No doubt everyone else in the industry, including Paragon Studies, is closely watching to see how that turns out.

As for the German shepherd, it's a nicely animated rig, but none of my characters are dog persons. (We all know a cat isn't far behind.)

While I have no intention of buying it, it should have been priced at 400.

My advice? Say it was a typo. Refund anyone who's bought it 100 points. Sell it for 400.

You only have to sell 20% more of the dog to make this price worth it. (Unless you're wanting people to wait two months, spend 500 on the dog, and then waste the 300 points remaining cause it's "loose change".)

Dog's a little expensive but I got it anyway. My expectation is it took a lot of extra work to make the dog come to life, and they're testing the waters on justification for having made a new four-legged model. Money spent on this now will help them decide to do more with it later. I'm spending my points in hopes they work on a new Mastermind primary next.

The dog should cost ten dollars, and be invisible so as to prevent clipping.

Looks like Marketing took Ole' Yeller out behind the woodshed.

Poor execution, Marketing

I thought it would go for 400 points. I thought that was too much, but I would buy it anyway, 'cause yay doggie! Definitely not feeling it at 500 for fluff, though.

That's exactly what I said. $6.25? Seriously? Is everything in this game going to be insanely overpriced?

Again, I will pass on this week's Market items due to being overpriced.

Wow, 500 points for a vanity pet? Sorry devs, but I'm thinking of two words here, the second is off, and the first is rude. Work it out.

I'd pay to have things rolled back to working again. -_-

I get 550 points free each month. Doesn't cost me a dime. Mwuhahahaha! Until they charge more than I get for free each month I don't care what the price is. Free is free.

I agree with the 500 points being too much for my tastes but I can understand where they are coming from. They have an opportunity to make money from people like role players that will fork over the 500 points or get you to use your points and hopefully purchase more, so a higher purchase point is understandable.

My thoughts is that it will eventually be on sale for a more reasonable price.

Now if said vanity pet came with different breeds...

Hmm, just been to the local Dog pound and got myself a German shepherd, all I had to pay was £5 for his injections, come on-line today and they want more for a virtual version, I can see next week the store offering a Dog Bowl for 250 points, week after 650 for a leash, and I'm still shuddering at the thought of what they would charge for a Kennel.

Too many 50's to list here's a few you may know.
Slazenger, Area51, Area53, Area54, Erruption, Mind Plague, Thresher, Sheath, Broadside, Debt

I keep seeing this argument, and it's pretty hollow. What's the point of putting things on the market if A) they're not desirable, B) they're priced so the playerbase laughs at them, and C) they ultimately won't make Paragon as much money as anticipated? At first I was buying every new thing that the Market spat out. Now I'm just sort of twiddling my thumbs and going "Well that's boring" every week that doesn't have an SSA, a nice aura, or a powerset.

A) They may not be desirable to you, but someone's going to buy anything they put on there. For instance: I bought the dog today.

While it's possible they could make more money by offering X instead of Y, it's impossible to know that or make comparisons on what they could've made or put on sale.

I didn't buy the Halloween pack, but I know people who did. I didn't make an angry post about how the devs are making undesirable things.

B) Prices might seem high, but there are still people buying anyway. It's possible they could make a profit if they sold more items for cheaper, but it's pretty difficult to know or predict that kind of thing.

Also, most people are planning on getting things with their free points every month. What would you prefer: one interesting thing every 3-4 weeks, or something you feel you have to spend your points on every single week? We've already seen threads where people are upset that they have to spend real money (instead of use their free points) to buy things. And that devs are putting things out too fast so they can't possibly get all the things they're "owed" without spending real money.

I think a trickle of lower interest items is a safer bet. That way people can pass if they aren't that interested and save for better things.

C) You and I don't really know how much money they're making on this, nor how much money they're expecting to make, nor how the two compare. If it turns out it's not making them much money they'll make changes. It's entirely possible it's going according to plan.

Slightly inaccurate. Those particular $25 pets came with a matching stuffed animal, so you're getting a RL item for that money.

The purchaseable pets that compare to the German Shephard are $10 and are bound to account, meaning all characters on that account get one at the moment of creation for the life of the account.

The newest pet is also $10, but unlike the other pets above, it is not account bound and can be sold or traded to other players.

totally agree with this

The only people that "have" to spend money on anything in the store are the "gottahaveitnow" types that don't have the patience it takes to save up their points and maybe even get it on sale, and the Freebs & Prems who can spend some of the sub money they are saving by playing for free.

Just so long as the cat is cheaper LOL. Could be cool for witch themed characters though.

Wait until you see how much they want to charge for spaying/neutering.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

I think I understand this long run of worthless shop items. I mean, I still have $70 in points sitting there and nothing to spend them on. That's a strong incentive to keep subscribing until I find something to spend them on.

Damn my brain, why do you not understand the "don't throw good money after bad" axiom.

Full stop. Which folks are. They're saying its not worth it.

Don't see the issue.

EDIT: To be clear, to me it IS worth it. I'm just gong to wait till I have extra points lying around. I don't gotta have it now.

Plus this is better release than the Halloween pack that was put up the day after halloween.
