Worst part of the SSA

The worst part?

Trying to find the damned contact.

I was looking for the name/ location of the contact, skimming through some threads here to see if I could find that out. Still don't know who it is, or where he is, but I have managed to spoil the "reveal" for myself.

Yeah. If it weren't for Paragonwiki, I wouldn't know WHERE the last two SSA contacts are. They never announced themselves.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

/agree.

Really, either reuse the first contact (which wouldn't make sense, I know) or give us SOMETHING saying where the other contact is. I shouldn't have to keep hunting through zones or hoping somone on help can answer.

While I'm at it, can we stop jacking up the range for each one? I haven't played long, don't have a lot of TIME to play, and am barely in the range for this one. Why can't they all be, say, 20+? Am I going to need to be 45 in another arc or two, or need Incarnate powers for the last one?

Well don't worry, the splash page spoils everything before you even get into mission 1 so don't feel too disappointed

That assumes you know that part of the backstory of the characters and game. Which was a kind of annoying part of the second one - that "quiz" that comes up before people of that level would have even gotten to the shadow shard. I had a friend who was playing this longer and had been there (but not in a while) complain they couldn't remember it, so how would someone new know it?

Some of us are not new, yet have never even been to the shadow shard (outside random instanced missions that give no backstory)

Have you checked the map? When I was looking for it earlier, there were markers for all three of the SSA contacts that clearly state that they're WWD contacts. The hardest part is figuring out what zone they're in if you don't already know.

What I don't understand is why that only the first SSA contact gets a hold of you, but the rest so far, don't...

Don't be in such a rush, the arcs aren't going anywhere.

Uh, what? The mission set up is "Statesman's Daughter has been asked to negotiate with a madman" and the splash page shows Statesman looking on sadly to X-rays and pictures of a body on a slab with a toe tag. Pretty obvious to put 2 and 2 together that his daughter dies. None of that requires you to know the lore.

And, you do realize the 3 clues you find in the chests in the 2nd mission of the 2nd episode gives you the answers to the quiz right? I'm a new player of 3 months and haven't been to the shadow shard either. The mission's clues spell out everything you need to know, whether you're new or experienced.

Assuming you're the mission holder, anyway.

As Agent White says, the clues you find in that mission, explicitly for the reason of learning more so you can answer the questions, give the answers to those questions. Edit: And not that I've checked for these specific clues, but since it's a TF, shouldn't the clues show up for everyone on the team?

Fortunately, there's already a feature on the beta to address the problem in the OP: the SSAs are grouped together as 'Signature Contacts' or something in the contact window. Would've been nice to have it all along, but at least they're correcting it.

Yeah, its annoying. Its being fixed in Issue 21.5, there will be a special contact added to your list at level 10 who will let let you select any of the SSAs to start.

Always remember, we were Heroes.

I noticed the new icons on the map in Talos and then St Martial a few days before the arcs came out. Then it was just a matter of looking up the "equivalent" zone on the other side (Talos -> Sharks, St Martial -> FF) and checking the map for a green icon that wasn't there before.

Not that hiding new content from the people who paid for it is a good idea, but it did make me feel really smart for about 5 minutes.

Sometimes it pays to read the mission info and clues

For criticism of the actual arc itself... This one really lost me. Way too much conning friendly while we pretend we're not about to murder each other, use of the damn "teleport away to deny you victory" technique, incredibly frustrating untargettable mobs in the first boss, a mission that adds an objective but doesn't give any hint to that other than the the objectives window changing, a cheap ripoff of the Lord Recluse fight, and finally a last boss that spawns with half health who your friend immediately kills. Oh, and the model that should have been a corpse fell to the floor and dusted herself off before fading out while a clone of her suddenly appeared, dead, on the floor.

I also hate Arachnoids but that's more of a personal bugbear.

HOWEVER!

Flinging rocks at the flyer before uppercutting it out of the sky was some of the best fun I've had in this game for a looooooong while.

EDIT: Whoops! I should mention that's for the hero version!

/This.

When I saw the listing for number 3 in the Paragon Market, I went to the Help Channel to see if anyone knew the location. Failing that, I went to ParagonWiki and hit paydirt.

I adore ParagonWiki.

I am hoping that is her spirit on it's way to the "Spirit World"

If so, maybe she will help us in future issues

Apparently some of that is an illusion due to *spoiler*s involvement.

Why would an illusion fall on its butt and dust itself off before vanishing though? Just looks really buggy

People that go too slow are bound to have spoilers spoiling the surprises.

On the day of the grand finale, I'll be closing the chat windows and avoiding forums.
