  1. Just for a bit of additional clarification: Your powers come from the Well of the Furies. According to the Incarnate lore of late, everyone's talents do even if they're not super powers.

    Same kinda deal.
Got to agree, he does have the same hair even.
  3. Yeah, sorry, my terseness was frustration with how much all these blueside arcs look like villain ports.
  4. Play villains. As always their arc explains and features more stuff.

Alexis died, so she was obviously going to die.

And yeah, I'm pretty concerned about where Psyche's going, considering a lot of her recent portrayls have been pretty unflattering...

I think I'll know if I'm going to hate it as soon as I see the loading art.
  6. They hit my Inv tank once for about 200 damage. I guess they'd be fairly painful for a squishy.

What would be helpful would be a "Character! He's being powered by those generators! Deal with them!". This arc often just swapped objectives and gave you no reason to look for a change.

It would have been nice if his generators buffed his res/def up to untenable levels, instead of just making him invincible. That feels genuinely futile, as opposed to cheap, and also lets you run the arc in "Challenge mode" and try and beat him anyway.

Yeah, zero problems here with anyone of either gender dying for any reason if it's consistent with the story that's been told prior and it's tone.

This was so clumsy, though, I'm not even sure there was any gender bias involved...

How about just killing her because it's the natural, if emotional, resolution to this story?

    Or just not making a "We killed a main character's brother's sister's dog's owner's sister's uncle's dad's cousin's father's brother's robot! Look how edgy we are!" plot.

Hey, I'm not arguing this is a WIR case

Just that the trope specified is one that has a misogynist bias. Others can probably go through it better than me, it's an argument I've seen a lot and prefer not to be in.
  11. I'd say "self-declared" would be a nice replacement.

A few queries on my part:

Did everyone have Malaise spawn at 50% health? No reason I can think of this one happening, he just spawned at 50% health and while I was running up to him (having hopped around in the irritating "Cons friendly for dialogue" phase, I was a short way away) Manticore finished him off.

Are the minions in the conference room fight meant to be untargettable, save for Blitz himself? I would say "blinded" but I could still see them all and Blitz was perfectly targettable.

Did anyone else get a message saying why we cared about those Arachnoids, or even hinting we're meant to stop guarding the scientist and go and beat them up, or are they meant to try and ambush you? They spawned in a tunnel for me and I had to go fight them.

Oh, no, it's still terrible storytelling.

    It's just not (potentially) misogynist.

Oh, good. I was worried I wouldn't miss more important plot details by playing the hero version first. I'm glad to see I wasn't let down.

SSA 3 gets worse and worse...

The problem is mostly a sex relation one. If it were Sister Psyche's uncle we basically wouldn't have this thread.

It's a deep seated issue that's had a lot of debate in comics circles, and a lot of people feel very strongly about it, so I'd read up before you wade in with your opinion, if only to prevent this devolving into a flame war.
  15. It's also not quite the same standard. It runs out of steam towards the end where it becomes a rush to finish the arc and ends up missing a lot of resolution. I'm still a big fan of the beautiful zone and engaging first and second part, though, and those definitely do match Praetoria.
  16. Oh, yeah. No doubt that dead means dead. Just that

A: Making her dead shouldn't have been as easy as it seems to have been presented and

B: Who cares? I felt as though my motivation was primarily a political one, ala "this could threaten war", until Manti started flipping out over it. I think I was meant to feel sad about her death, but really I just felt kind of frustrated that I'd seen it from a mile away, that I didn't get to fight Malaise, the buggy illusion fading, and most of the missions in general. If that was our empathic moment, then it really fell short.

Also, keeping in point with this: Was Blitz on Malaise's side, or was he just profiting from the confusion? It seems to be the latter during the meeting, but subsequently Blitz seems to be protecting Malaise before you go and not-fight him.
  17. Giving mediporters to heroes makes sense because they're incrediby valuable assets to the city. Likewise, so is Alexis. It seems to be the CoX equivalent of giving people stab-vests. Actually going to the negotiation is already straining my credulity, but hey, she was once a hero, and I'm up for believing that kind of mentality is going to stay with her. I can just about accept danger is a risk she's willing to take for peace, however unlikely. And Manticore and my hero being there is also good, although the fact we're all that's there and the room is filled with Crab Spiders is a little frustrating too (maybe it's a compliment, me and Manticore are equal to a room full of Crabs).

But, given they know her death would be an international incident, and given that Blitz has some kind of mediporter, and given that she's apparently a much bigger deal to everyone else than she is to me (I'll mention again she appears in exactly one mission, as an enemy, for the thirty seconds it takes to floor her), it seems ridiculous they didn't take the (what seems to be) simple precaution of giving her a teleporter. I'd have been happy if Manti had mentioned "Oh, she tried to teleport out but I think she went into a cell further in", or even my suggestion above, but just leaving it out makes her seem less "heroic" and more "really stupid and/or naive", which someone with her experience shouldn't be coming off as.

    WIR? (Spoilers)

It wasn't exploitative in the least. She's showed up for all of 1 mission which odds are good you haven't done because it's an Oro task force, and that was her in the past. There's literally no emotion to exploit there apart from "someone died".

Now exploitative in the sense of "We killed someone! OH SNAP! This story just got edgy"... Yeah, I guess. This SSA really kind of lost me, to be honest, and not even on plot alone like it tends to be of late.
  19. Just came up with something myself: She was under illusory attack so no physical damage was detected. She died of psychic shock rather than anything the mediporter could detect.

Still think this arc was kind of meh, though, although punching the flyer in the face was so much fun.
  20. Apparently some of that is an illusion due to *spoiler*s involvement.

Why would an illusion fall on its butt and dust itself off before vanishing though? Just looks really buggy
  21. What reason could there have been for her not to have a mediporter, though? It seems like it'd be a pretty common-sense thing to have, arguing with a madman like Blitz.
  22. My post on the "bugs me" thread covers my objections, so I'll just say this:

I guess we know who died now

Also the objection about her even going there seems reasonable, and I would also question why she wasn't given a mediporter. We've established that civillians can't get them so as not to strain the system, but she's kind of a big deal. It's hard to believe that diplomats in potentially hostile territory wouldn't have one, particularly since Blitz uses one immediately after the negotiation breaks down.
  23. For criticism of the actual arc itself... This one really lost me. Way too much conning friendly while we pretend we're not about to murder each other, use of the damn "teleport away to deny you victory" technique, incredibly frustrating untargettable mobs in the first boss, a mission that adds an objective but doesn't give any hint to that other than the the objectives window changing, a cheap ripoff of the Lord Recluse fight, and finally a last boss that spawns with half health who your friend immediately kills. Oh, and the model that should have been a corpse fell to the floor and dusted herself off before fading out while a clone of her suddenly appeared, dead, on the floor.

I also hate Arachnoids but that's more of a personal bugbear.

    HOWEVER!

Flinging rocks at the flyer before uppercutting it out of the sky was some of the best fun I've had in this game for a looooooong while.

EDIT: Whoops! I should mention that's for the hero version!
  24. I know that. At one point, however, it was stated you'd get all your tokens at once when you subbed. This apparently broke between Beta and live, though, so it couldn't be implemented. There was, and I admit this is a very hazy memory, some mention of "seeing what could be done" about it, but we haven't heard anything more since.
  25. I've heard mutterings that they're announcing the next VIP set at the player summit. Is there any corresponding info about getting all your reward tokens at once? If I'm wrong please do correct me. Thanks!
