Pieces of Win
Access to the Roman set, the same way Vanguard already is. This to me would be far more desirable than capes or auras, simply because it's more potentially "theme-critical", to me at least. I'd say the same for a lot of the weapon unlocks as well.
|
Also, if you offer the Rulu-shin costume bits as a set? That set needs to include the Rularuu weapon unlocks. I have wanted to create a Rularuu cult themed villain for years now, but ...
Well, I imagine that Lazarillo feels, like I do, that if you want to create a time-traveling Roman themed character, it doesn't make sense to costume them in something out-of-period to level 35, then have them switch "back" to their native costume at that level? I feel that same way about costuming ancient Greek demigods, heroes, monsters, or time-traveling citizens; I feel that same way about Rulu-shin cultists.
I think the hitch with the patron pools is going to be their alignment designation. I know we're just talking about throwing cash to unlock stuff in game, but given how specific the ppp is it feels kind of odd my newbies heroes will be able to follow down the villainous powers path without every actually being a villain when he hits the appropriate level. I kinda feel those should remain gated off without being a villain/doing the arc.
|
All my Stalker wants to do is fling some dark energy, fling some dark energy from further away, and make sure he doesn't get hit.
I'm going to have to go villain, grab the pool, come back. And it won't be something the character does. It's just an OOC hurdle to get the power that fits.
But I'm only somewhat kidding... Why not sell a lvl 50 toon (or 50 lvls of xp) on the market? Maybe limit to VIPs and only after (only if) your account has the x year badge (5 years, maybe 6 ?). |
Being able to buy all costume pieces will not have the same effect here as it would in WoW. There are no Boots of +5 Mincing or Cowls of +4 Blogmoffery. Costume parts are entirely cosmetic, and thus harmless.
Selling IOs on the store I still um and ah at and not sure where I stand. At least they aren't pruple, I guess. But selling an entire character? That...just nah. I think not.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I totally agree on the costume parts, auras, emotes and capes you can't get at Lv1. I can understand the actual incarnate/celestial costume parts being locked since they're stuck at Lv50 only. But essentially everything they've allowed free unlocks per character should be available account-wide on purchase much like the Vanguard pack.
You could even make bundles with some extra parts to fill in the slow days when you don't have a big powerset to push out or on slow weeks. Consider the Roman costume pieces from the ITF, and also some of the unique pieces that some Cimeoran NPCs/citizens get (criss-cross leather arm bands, roman sandals, shield-as-back-piece) and then create a Roman/Cimeora costume bundle, that would be pretty sweet. Getting stuff we've been waiting 35 levels and taskforce right from the start with some thematic extras!
Oh, and holiday costume pieces. While it may suck to have to go through taskforces to complete a character's look normally, but when you have to wait three quarters of a year for a taskforce or special mission to be accessable, it can be quite damning. While I'm not a fan of 'limited time' items I would understand if the holiday pieces were done this way, account-wide unlock and with some new thematic costumes (Much like our more recent vampire, fish-guy, think-tank, medusa Halloween set).
The premiums and VIPs can buy permenantly unlocked versions of so many costume pieces, and if you don't or can't pay for them, there's the free version we've had for years now, per character and behind content you must earn your way through.
You also have to consider when a new player enters the game, they might be more surprised when they see just how many different concepts you could build just by having all the previously locked pieces in view, granted they'll have to spend money to obtain them now but it's still cool when you can really see HOW MUCH City of Heroes has to offer in terms of cosmetic customisation. $5 for 400 points is enough to buy enough premium costume pieces for one initial character concept, four-five parts?

As long as we're talking about it, are there any other time vs. convenience options like the cape and aura unlock service you could see being a desirable Market offering?

Patron Powers unlocked blueside. Being able to buy them would severely cut down on the amount of PVE time required for a PVP character.
Make it so young Zwillinger.
I don't PvP anymore but I'd buy Accolades happily because I don't want to kill 200 Family Bosses anymore. It's boring.

Then it's time for them to get off the cross, use the wood to build a bridge, and get over it.

As a badge hunter and someone else who worked very hard to get those accolades on multiple characters, and hates PvP, I support PvPers and people that hate badge hunting having a non-PvE option for getting them.
That being said, I doubt Xanatos is referring to the workbench. I think he means the HP/End accolades and the combat powers like Geas/FoN and Eye of the Magus/Demonic.
That workbench sucks anyway. The recharge on it is ridiculous for what it does.

I do agree. Time saving items such as this have made my costume creation and playtime a bit more enjoyable .

The Rune of Warding as a permanent Temp Power like the Blackwand or Nem Staff. I'd gladly pay to unlock that as a permanent power for each of my accounts, as it's a far more suitable ranged option for my magic based toons than the Blackwand.

Buying a fully IO'ed and Incarnated out lvl 50 with all unlocks? When you buy it you get to choose what AT, powersets/etc that the toon has.
