That's what they are there for, my young Padawan.
How is it annoying? It's easy enough to ignore if you want to, it's just text. Like everything else in the game.

^ this, pretty much. I love how active within the community the staff are. So he used an admin channel to ask people to join a raid.... he's an admin so I don't see the issue

Now, if he went around randomly killing players that annoyed him, I'd totally understand getting upset but this seems like nothing

When Zwillinger randomly kills players, he makes sure to pick people he doesn't know at all so it can't be traced back to him.

Its just a matter of collecting all the bug reports of mailboxes freaking out and hitting players with total focus, and sending back an email saying the programmers are investigating.

Blows my mind that people would complain about this. Or are they joking and I just don't get it? Well I guess not really, people complain about everything.

I would guess the community team has rules for what they can, shouldn't, and can't do on their admin accounts. If you see a red-name doing something in-game you think is really wrong, petition them like you would anyone else, and they'll sort it out.

Past that, I'm very glad the community team is in game, doing things on various servers. So long as they make effort to treat all customers equitably when they do, I'm all for it. And, thinking about it, a red-name using the admin channel to recruit for an event is a good way, everyone on that server sees it. I'd rather not see an admin on just using one specific global channel that a lot of players couldn't see because they weren't channel members.

And the mailboxes killing players would be ... I want to write "fantastically cool", but I just can't, because it would be so outrageously wrong at the same time.

That box is lonely and needs a new occupant since pohsyb has moved out.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

The red chat is a bit annoying considering it hits every single one of my channels and tabs, and is a really stand out color. I typically associate that red with "Woah, the devs/mods have something important to say. Better read this." I don't want it to become "Oh, hey, Zwillinger's online. Whateves."

The admin channel is and always has been a means for the devs to let us know when there are difficulties, the servers are going down, or anything else related directly to some type of an issue. Begging for people to join your team and or chatting it up with randoms is not what it's for.

I absolutely appreciate the fact that Zwil is very involved in the community, and I certainly don't wish that to change. That being said, he is causing us to want to ignore admin messages and that's detrimental to our game. We NEED to pay attention to that admin channel as it's where we get important information when something happens in short amount of time. We shouldn't be encouraged to ignore it simply because someone is lonely.

We'll see....

I was on Gaurdian during the Praetorian Invasion.
It was great having a Admin with such great humor and love for the game and it's players.

People complain when the team doesn't interact with it's player base, and they complain when they do.

If you notice that an Admin is talking in Admin chat, and you notice it's just to interact with the rest on the server, treat it like a normal post.
When it's important, you'll notice.

Be happy, not many MMo's have such a great team of people who want to interact with the players.

Zwill.. Thanx again for the fun, hope to see u in the arena!
I bet you'll have trouble versus my Crab Nephila

and i LMAO when i saw the snapshot of the MT.. that was funny!

When using the admin chat you are communicating with every single client you currently have using your service.

Only on a single server, but yes, yes he is.
Invasion type events aside i haven't seen any use of Admin recently on live, so i've been missing all the fun. Of course if it was Zwillopolisnoworlater or some other Dev announcing they were looking to do some event with players i'd only be concerned the first time the red text popped up. At that point i'd realize what's going on and pay it little attention.

i'm good at ignoring unimportant things that don't amuse me.

When Zwill appeared on Union recently and said hello, the collective flinch from the RP channels looked like a Mexican wave.

Then we timidly, carefully, and slowly approached, uncertain what horror was about to befall us.

Then nothing happened, and we felt a little cheated. Yet scared, should he arrive again and the sky begin to fall.

Just take it easy on spam dude. It's a little ridiculous.
I'm guessing more players enjoy having a Red Name openly active in the game than not.

RPing is the minorty.

I do wish we could assign the Admin channel to a single chat tab and remove it from all the others. I make fairly heavy use of the whole tab-title-highlights-when-there's-a-new-message functionality, so it's a bit annoying when someone starts chattering on the Admin channel beyond a single announcement.

But eh, it's not like it's rage inducing or anything - it's about the equivalent of an RMT spammer for me, a few clicks and it's dealt with.

I would rather our devs do things like this than never be around. My brother plays a MMO type driving game and he has never seen a dev or even a GM in the entire time he's been playing. The player base there are always complaining that they are being ignored.

You never realize how great we have it till you see a game that doesn't have people like Z.

Agreed.

do I usually do any of these things announced? No. Do I like that they do these things? Yes! It's awesome! I think it's great they have staff members willing to do such things.

Yeah, I hate it when developers communicate with their player base or attempt to have fun with them, reassuring me that they DO care about me, that I AM important to them, and this game isn't just a job to them but something they care about much more than I do.

I don't get why you guys think there's only two speeds:

1. CS Silence
2. CS Admin Spam

Why not find a happy middle ground: Professional, proof-read, delivered messages designed to increase social awareness without imposing on the players.

It's not a big deal. Just makes me think Zwill DGAF.

I didn't see anything he did as Admin spam. I saw it as "Hey, want to play with CoH dev/admin/one involved with the CoH process? Well this is what I'm doing!"

And I like it Many seem to do as well.

Mind you, I've never actually tried to join in any of this. But I like that the option is there.
