If you could have ONE MM, what would it be?

My first MM character was
<- Party Kake

A character I created for the costume alone. I hadn't played a Mastermind yet and was interested to see how well they'd be.

COMPLETELY BY ACCIDENT I created a Bots/Dark Miasma one, and at first I was kinda frustrated at the occasional "miss" when using my heal power, but the frustrations I'd experienced with the class were trivial compared to how much I was doing and how fast (omg!) I was leveling. This character's been my favorite for a very long time, only surpassed (shortly) by a tanker who (omigosh) can solo missions meant for a team of seven (it's a prime number! no I won't do 8) who also has a cool backstory.

Can you tell I'm a flagrant Vorthos?

Yeah it's sorta weird that my Mastermind is one of "those" class builds that's so wildly awesome, overpowered, and dare I say it broken, but I love it for all the right reasons and that makes all the difference in the world.

I have a bunch of MMs and the ones I leveled to 50 are the ones I enjoyed playing the most.

Bots/Traps lvl 50
Thugs/Dark lvl 50
Demon/TA lvl 42
Necro/Therm lvl 25
Merc/Pain lvl 50
Ninja/Therm lvl 36
Bots/Storm lvl 27
Thugs/Time lvl 50

Since I can only choose one, it would be Thugs/Time. It's my most recent, really fun to play. My only MM that can make it through Lambda's lab/warehouse with some or all pets alive from start to finish (Among the 50s, haven't tried with Thugs/Dark). I sometimes participate in Rikti Mothership Raids without joining a team/league and can rack up 600+ v-merits solo (Mercs net me 700+ solo, haven't tried Bots).

Between Maneuvers (x3), IO aura procs and Power Boosted Farsight, pets have softcap defense to all type/positions when near by. Pets are incarnate softcap to enemies affected by Time's Juncture. Get a good recharge on Temporal Selection and cycle a nice damage buff between 3-4 pets. Time Crawl/Slowed Response for EB/GM/AVs, Time Stop for bosses and Distortion Field for everything else makes fights go pretty smooth.

I remember my Thugs/Dark was really strong with all it's debuffs but it's still built on SO's and I never got around upgrading him. But I imagine /Dark to have similar or even better results than /Time. Does Black Hole make crates/containers in a Lambda intangible too? If not, it would be really useful during that phase of the trial.

I have a few MMs as well, but I have to say my favorite is my first Thugs/Dark. Here is a list of my MMs

Thugs/Dark
Bots/Traps
Bots/FF
Demons/Poison
Demons/Therm
Necro/Therm
Mercs/TA
Ninja/Storm

I haven't tried Time yet but want to. I just haven't decided which primary I want to pair with it.

Granted, it's still a low level MM, but Time's Juncture and Ninja (melee minions) seem to work very well together. Throw in Time's heal, buffs and other debuffs/holds and this is a well rounded set that plays very well with a Mastermind in the middle of combat. In fact, so far this is the funnest Mastermind combination I'm played so far. Can't wait to have time this weekend to play her some more and that's never happened to me with a Mastermind. I'm a lifelong Scrapper/Brute addict.

So I guess that's the answer to this thread's original question. My Ninja/Time Mastermind.

Of my 5 L50 MM's
Bot/Dark
Bot/Trap
Thug/Dark
Thug/Pain
Demon/Time

I would say Demon/Time is the one MM I would play if I could only have one. I have never had so much fun playing a character. Solo I can kill GM's and AV's with relative ease (Still working on how to kill Lusca solo) and run +4/8 missions. On teams its nice to be able to give a "SB" power (Chrono Shift) and +def power to my teammates. It's also a plus to have little baby fire imps around you're already massively loud Demon team.

Personally? Mercs are my favorite set. My merc/pain is my favorite, but the merc/time I am working on is great as well. After that, I like the versitility of Demons, and thugs just have a fun theme. And ninjas...I mean...come on. Ninja's. I enjoy them all, though my 'least' favorite would be necro. I suggest giving them all a shot, and at least building up to level 12 to test your second minion type.

Something interesting to note about necro, I believe it's the earliest MM set to get any AoE. Since the ranged puke from the zombies is a cone attack.

Bots/Storm.

I like my bots/traps, but it is kind of boring. Storm can be a pretty busy set for positioning as such, so I dont feel like I am just dropping a trap and then watching the bots chip away. Pumps out a crazy amount of damage if you can lock the spawns in a corner.

Oh jeeze, I don't think I can do this.

I have a Bots/Force, Bots/Traps, Demon/Thermal, Thugs/Traps, and Necro/Dark and I love them all.

I also, once upon a time, had a Mercs/Traps and Ninja/Poison, but due to excessive frustrations with Mercs/ and both Ninja/ and /Poison, deleted them both long ago, so I guess that tells you which sets I wouldn't choose to be The One, at any rate.

Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.

I have two.

Hellen Dark - Demons/Dark
Dead Ken - Necro/Poison

Love them both to bits. They both have little back stories and they play very differently.

If I had to start one over, I think I'd go with Bots/FF or Thugs/Arrows. Hmm... Altitis just started to kick in...darnit.

Thugs/Traps or Bots/Time. If I HAD to choose one...well, that's just insanity. I refuse to answer that question.

Merc/Storm, because 'controlled' chaos is for pansies. Send those mobs flying and let a bullet catch 'em in the *** on the way out the door.

I've been on a MM creation spree as of late;
Bots/Traps
Bots/Time
Bots/Sonic
Necro/Time
Demons/Storm

Along with my existing Necro/Poison, Bots/FF, Demons/Thermal and Thugs/Traps, I have to say the Demons/Storm has been the most fun and felt the most powerful by far - actually, the only one I feel is a bit "meh" is the Thugs/Traps but I have an aversion guns in this game so it's probably a theme issue.

So my vote, for only having 1 MM, goes to my Demons/Storm - Storm Daemon.

I love the MM AT and as a result can't take just one.

The two different playstyles I've seen (and use myself) are aggressive and passive. My Necro/Dark MM is very pro-active, throwing his numerous offensive powers (yes, my MM has offensive powers!) around to assist his pets with some light damage, Immobs and Holds and lots of -To Hit. He's never bored in a fight...always has something to do. Necro/Dark is perfect for this. /Sonic also seems to be great with any Primary since you can never have too much -Resist.

Passives MMs like to let their pets do more of the work while they buff/debuff/heal/draw aggro. My friend uses the ReadNewspaper emote while his Force-Fielded robots dash about blasting everything in sight. I get bored too easily doing this so I only have one Bot/FF MM but for a defensive set I like Demon/Thermal.

If I were restricted to ONE MM I would have to go with Thugs/Time. I don't CARE that S/L is the most resisted damage type...the set is FUN! I get a Brute to act as a baby Tank, that I can buff, while throwing an AoE debuff and ST debuff on the enemy, oh and it has a PBAoE Heal AND Gang War. And coming up with a theme (very important for me) is easy since you can justify almost anything with /Time.

50 Necro/Dark ... gave her some damage potential with IOs. However, I'm not fond of zombies ... they're so stupid! Harder to control, imo. But, between Dark and Heat Mastery, I find the number of holds to be helpful.
50 Merc/Dark ... not much damage so far but getting him up there with IOs. A little tough to control because I have to keep calling them back to me (of course, I think all pets keep running up on their targets instead of staying where I put them).
3 Thug/Poison ... this is the third attempt to create this toon (deleted twice), but there's a chance this one may stick. The potential of sticking strictly to pet support is pretty good.

I once had a bot/ff, but got tired of playing him.

If I could have ONE ... it'd would definitely be a kin ... but since that option's not available, I'm not going to make that call. Right now, my necro/dark is my best one.

Necro/Poison
Demon/Poison

Too tough to choose. I'd have to close my eyes and point to one at random to keep it.

My highest MM is currently a Demon/Pain, and I LOVE playing him.

I also have a lvl 40something Robots/FF, a 22 Thugs/Traps, and a 14 Zombies/Time

Yup. Bots/Traps. Its like being a naughty god of death, destruction and immortality. Even your pets become godlike when you add in incarnate stuff. If I could choose two, the second would be Necro/Dark.

I'm going to perform a bit of thread necromancy and change my answer from robots/force fields to robots/traps. More encompassing of possibilities.

After coming back to this game from a long hiatus, I decided to start up an MM and chose Bots/TA. I'm actually quite surprised as to how much I am enjoying Trick Arrows as a secondary, even to the point where I would actually keep him over my Thugs/Poison who was my first ever 50.

Trick Arrow is one of those easy-to-underestimate sets that does a whole heck of a lot when you use it well.

I could see it working well as a secondary on a MM...
My own Trick Arrow/Archery defender runs duo with FCM's Demons/Thermal, and they're kind-of a force of nature together. TA's powers seem to be a nice compliment for the pets.

Re: the OP, I have a Ninja/FF, a Necro/Thermal and a Demons/Thermal among my crew. If I could only keep one of them? ... Hanano's ninja would win that fight. No contest. As fond as I am of the Unquiet Bride (the necro) as a character and as entertaining as the demons have been, there's just something classic about sending a horde of ninja after something.
