Actually, you can argue against the request for compensation: it's rather unreasonable. You KNEW there would be lots of maintenance going on in preparation for when Freedom goes official. I mean, they had to. They were going to be dealing with a server load approaching exponential levels of magnitude, and there's of course all the bugs and fixes that go on as well.
So you're wanting compensation for downtime we all knew was going to happen anyway? |

Are NCSoft really expecting all how ever many million wow players are playing at the moment to suddenly decide they've been wrong all these years and feel an over compelling urge to jump ship to a new world devoid of orcs and trolls (ingame I mean) and log in to CoH en mass?
Pretty sure the down time for NA was the same length as for everywhere else, but I am thinking you meant "prime playing time". My shift gets done at 1:00 am Mountain Standard Time here in the USA, which was just prior to shut down. I usually head home, swap into shorts and a T-shirt and play for 2-3 hours, head to bed and sleep until around 11-12:00. That gives me a couple hours to dink around before I head to work again. Guess the projected 12 hour upgrade did affect some of the NA players, since we don't all work the "normal" shift.
I just want to be able to log in and not get mapserved 3-4 times per TF, so if I miss a couple days of playtime, but gain the ability to not leave my teamates a man short during the Rommie/Reichsman/Recluse fight...seems like a small price to pay. |

I notice we've got another eight hours of downtime today - but interestingly we've not been invited to take part in discussing that
This is getting a bit silly now. Upgrade the servers 2 weeks back and then upgrade them again and again. Seems to me somebody got it badly wrong the first time

Well so much for having time today to get a few more levels - yesterday was a wipeout and today will be as I'm not around tonight.
I'm starting to wonder if I should have come back as the game seems to be down more than it is up if you happen to want to play it during EU times.

... also i would i like to add, that devs must remember that they provide a product for us customers to buy.... in current situation, a big number of their customers are paying a no-product for them, something that is not considered a good move in the general market area....

City of Downtime
City of Maintenance
City of Unable to access server
City of Stfu EU players
City of Pay without Play
I could go on but i think you get the point and no im not asking for compensation because i know only too well you will not give anyone anything for the downtime. Because after all we just sit and swallow it like a cheap ****** :P
No, it's mildly ridiculous for us EU players. It's especially ridiculous for the Aussie and Oceania players.

It's hitting me as well, since I don't play during "normal" playing hours here in the US.
I tried to log on this morning and was kicked from the server for more maintenance. I've been unable to play more than I've been able to play lately. Hopefully this will be the last time for awhile. If not, now that I have the option to play for free, I may pursue it.

Regular maintenance downtime is just a fact of persistent world life. Extended periods for rollout are just a fact of computer life. Emergency patches to fix bugs are a fact of rollout life.
With that all being said (and with FULL understanding of the industry), this is getting just a little ridiculous. Don't want to refund or offer a free month (which by all standards of commerce you SHOULD do), fine: Give anyone subscribed during the extended downtime (ie from launch to now) an extra 400-800 points, or a redeemable code for 20-50% off a one time points purchase. Something. Anything!
Honestly I though OCR would have taken a step of good will with all the server down times, and no I don't mean a ustream session. There have been numerous angry posts at this point some of which have been erased, and none addressed. I sincerely think that if people got some paragon points it would go a long way to calm upset players, since they haven't steeped in I assume they can't.

Obviously I became aware of the downtime for Thursday, after all that's what this post is related to, however, where is the information on the downtime RIGHT NOW?! Why is it down again? How long? I even managed to get an hour of playtime yesterday before work but I got home this morning and can't play yet again. At least feed me some reasons for this one!

im sick of these stupid updates, no offense to the devs its great wat ur doin but as a PAYING VIP CUSTOMER, we should be gettin more leeway here than the rest, im not paying for this if u r gunna continue taking up so much time in one day and now u need 8 hours today, well this is beyond a joke, i am truly upset that i cant even log on to play 4 atleast an hour before i go to look after my nephew, as i hav said i pay to play, i couldnt care less bout the freeloaders , if you continue to take my gameplay time away from me without as much as pre warning then i want my money back and ill happily play a different game such as champions online.
its almost like buying a brand new car but u cant have the damn thing cos THEY wanna service it 4 so many of untold days.
serious sort it out cos u will lose alot of serious players and all ull have left are the freeloading players who get better quality service than us, unbelievable.
Yeah I’m someone known in my circle for extraordinary patience and longsuffering. Been through stuff like this in MMOs more times than I can count, but patience has limits. And although under most circumstances would take all this with a grain of salt, after this 2nd day in a row following the multiple downtimes recently, even I am finding myself getting frustrated.
How is one group of downtime more important than another group? Really, think about it. The whining is unreal, I'm embarrassed to think I play with some of you.
Outages are a fact life in ANY capacity. Nothing is finite or 24/7...except maybe the crying.
I feel the people behind the scenes are trying their best to keep the our game fresh and as well as keep most happy. I personally would not want to venture into work at some of these times these people are. Obviously, there is a fair amount of dedication on their end and a discussion about the down time will help them get better at what they do as far as how the downtime affects their core users.
Everyone's prime time is different and there is probably not too many people that can honestly say that they have not been affected by some of the recent down time.
Have a cup of tea, a biscuit, and chill
Is there an actual post somewhere saying how long todays downtime is going to last, when things will be back up etc? If so, I can't find it.. But then, I'm lazy and probably haven't checked -everywhere-..

OR they could do it at their normal office hours and stay a few hours later to avoid the whole reason people are complaining on this thread?
