Discussion: New Items at the Paragon Market - September 20, 2011
Quote:
Are these what you are looking for?
Yes, there should be value in ordering items as a set, but 1) they're valuing individual items at 1/5th the price of 40-60 items, 2) you can't buy them as a set so you have to pay those high prices. Hell, just the weapons offered in the Barbarian pack are worth $5.00 at the same price we're expected to pay for new auras and backpacks.
$1.00 = 1 item $5.00 = around 50 items (or 10 items per dollar) I'd actually be interested to see just how many costume parts each pack contains. Divide that by five and you'll get the estimated worth for a costume part when bought as a pack. For instance, the magic pack has 47 costume parts or so. So is the real value of the magic pack $47, and they're just being nice and offering it for 1/10th that? Is the magic pack in reality worth three months of subscription time? |
Broken down parts per pack.
Average costs of a la carte/pack vs bundled parts/pack.
Note, the Party pack doesn't have any costumes to bundle and Mutant, GR:Basic, GR:Complete, and Good vs Evil don't offer bundles. IDF and Barbarian sets not included in this list.
The best is the Magic Pack at a savings of $0.58 on average per part. The worst is the Wedding Pack at a savings of $0.02 on average per part.

Yeah, the average price per part is pretty much what I was looking for.

The absolute highest is $1.00 per part for the origins pack. Most of them though hover around 25-30 cents per part. Even if you take the average from the pieces when bought individually, only the origins pack is near $1.00 (looking at that, it's a bit overpriced).
Even if the wedding pack has the worst "savings," you're still only paying 50 cents per part. I'm not as much concerned with the savings when paying for items in bulk as I am overpaying for each individual item. And none of these except for origins ask you to pay $1.00 per item. Averaged out you pay 38 cents per part. That includes packs that have more than just costumes, and the high origins pack. They should be asking, at the very most, 40-50 cents for new individual items.

You shouldn't have been able to. In my market screen, those items (IDF and Signature Story Arc) can not be purchased, only added to my Wish List.
So, will the market let you buy the story arc if you are a ViP?
If so, this seems... wrong. Taking my money for something I am already paying for. As I look back, I think I already made this mistake with the IDF costume set as well. I purchased it, but now that I think about it isn't it free for VIPs? I plan on keeping my sub running, so I should not pay for these things. Moreover, I should not be /able/ to pay for these things. If, for some reason, I drop my sub and then want to pay for them, that's fine. At the very least they need a bold bright disclaimer and confirmation box if I am trying to buy something that my subscription is already giving me. |

One point about the Origins Pack: I don't know if the bundle for that includes the auras or not. If the bundle does include the auras (unlike other bundles on the market), the average price goes down.

I would PRESUME... though I can't confirm... that it would work like similar to trying to buy the knowledgeable badge twice. You can get it in your cart, and even get it as far as trying to check out, but it will say something about needing to adjust the quantity, or something to that nature, and won't let you actually purchase it.

That said, I would love an option to grey out or ignore "non-repeatable" options based on what you already own on your character. I don't see this happening, at least not anytime soon, but it would be nice. Even I understand there are technical limitations to that, however.

Forum Gods, I curse you!
It's like you have a Jekyll and Hyde operating the price sheets. On one hand you have a guy going "I'll give people about 40-60 items for $5.00! I'm valuing individual costume pieces around 8 to 15 cents each!" and then another guy goes "AHAHAHAHA $1.00 PER PIECE, YEAAAAHHHH!" And then he drinks blood out of a skull and rides off on a motorcycle made of baby seals.

This is what I found to be the case. I have two accounts and bought the Barbarian pack on one of them. A few days later I decided to buy it for the other one, but couldn't remember which one already had it and when I tried to check out, it told me something like "The quantity is too high," and I realized what I'd done.

So no, while it seems like you could, I've found that you can't actually buy they same "one-time purchase" item more than once on the same account.

I was going to buy the Animal and Steampunk boosters but it seemed more logical to wait until Paragon Market came along as I would be getting them "for free." But the available bundles seem to be just the costume parts.

Does anyone know if the emotes (and Steamjet power) are included in the Market bundles? Thanks!
@ Purgatorio
Of everything I've read, the emotes are not included in the bundles.

I am pretty sure that costume bundles [u]only[/i] include costume parts. No emotes, no auras, etc.
But I (and I suspect Snow Globe) don't actually know. Mostly because I won't buy anything from the Market at their current prices.
Sorry.

Going by some posts made a few days ago in the Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs section, no, the auras are not included with the Origins pack.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Ok, if you can verify one more thing:
Origin Bundle includes the following:
Origins Pack Magic Origin Cape (Cloak of the Eighth Circle) 100
Origins Pack Mutant Origin Cape (Spliced) 100
Origins Pack Natural Origin Cape (Autumnal) 100
Origins Pack Science Origin Cape (Unified Field Façade) 100
Origins Pack Technology Origin Cape (Impervium Mantle) 100
Origin Bundle does not include the following:
Origins Pack Atomic 80
Origins Pack Bio Plasma 80
Origins Pack Cryogenic 80
Origins Pack Leaves 80
Origins Pack Runes 80
Origins Pack Sparks 80
Origins Pack Steamjets 80
Origins Pack Tarot Cards 80
Origins Pack Thunderhead 80
Origins Pack Toxic Vapor 80
If these two lists are correct, then someone needs to go through all the bundles and say they do NOT include the auras.

Rename the Origins Bundle: Origins Cape Bundle
And add an: Origins Aura Bundle
And a: Origins Combined Bundle
Oh and Snow Globe, I hope your item count for the bundles is taking into account that for each item, if there is a male, female and huge version of it, that it counts as 3 costume items not 1 in the eyes of the devs and the cost to create these pieces.
Also the barbarian Pack comes with A shield (with 2 additional spike options) and 4 Weapons.
2 Maces, an ornate Sword and an Axe.

Thank you all for the response.
@ Purgatorio
At least that would be more accurate.
I'm going by what is available on the market for item counts.
Check this page in that spreadsheet for the list of barbarian items counted. My source data is available for all to see, and you can verify yourself from the store if you want.
In other words:
Mace - Check (already counted)
Warhammer - Check (already counted)
Shield - Check (already counted)
Sword - Check (already counted)
Axe - Check (already counted)

I'd been wondering what was included in the Origins Bundle; thanks for the comprehensive break-down Snow Globe. I now know that I'll have to Wish list the auras as well

I was looking through the store last night. The bundles now all have a bolded note that says something akin to "This bundle has X costume pieces for M/F/H characters and does not include any auras, emotes or powers."

The Origins Pack replaces "costume pieces" with something like "5 origin-themed capes."
But it is noted in the store now.
Main Hero: Chad Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1396 Badges
Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges
Mission Architect arcs: Doctor Brainstorm's An Experiment Gone Awry, Arc ID 2093

When clicking on, "NEW," the sort field should automatically change to a newest items sort list. If I click on, "NEW," and all I see are Beam Rifle, Rocket Board, and other things I already own, what would make me click page 2 to see if there's something newer than that (aside from the giant blurb on the launcher)? Please add a sort field that allows us to sort, "Newest to Oldest."
Also, did we ever get an answer about whether they are fixing the market to hide the BUY button on items that we already own? We also need a check box that lets us hide items we have already unlocked. And animated hair... (just had to throw that back into the mix. lol)
