The thing you are forgetting is that those points now have to go to stuff that was previously included in the Issue updates. You know, stuff like power sets, costumes, some content, a lot of QoL upgrades (enhancement slots, increased inventory, etc), and that things will be constantly added to the store.

Before a player was able to say they have got full access to everything in the game. That is no longer the case.
Players still had to pay for tons of crap. At one point I had to pay for CoV, and then GR, and the many costume packs. I had to pay extra for the various release versions of the game to get all the bonuses and perks I wanted. You didn't have full access to the game unless you bought it.

Not much has changed. In fact you get more for free now than you ever did before.

I still feel it necessary to complain about overpriced items though.

I'm certain that they are working on content that will cost active subscribers Paragon Points. I can only speculate on whether that content is a new bought Trial or a "Super Signature Arc" with voice acting.

That slope is already plenty slippery at the moment and it looks to be getting faster.

This is exactly how I feel. I didn't want the whole super science pack, but I did want the ability to change character height for different costumes. So I figured my best bet was to wait for the Paragon Market, but now I feel a bit ripped off. There's no way I'm paying $10 just for the super tailor, it's not worth it! At the very most, this should have been only 500 points, putting it on a par with the other booster pack powers (beast/ninja run, etc.). I still think that's a bit much for what mostly amount to glorified sprints, but it's still a lot more reasonable than one power costing as much as the entire original pack!

At the moment, we are not developing any game content such as missions or task forces that will not be free to subscribers. We expect City of Heroes Freedom to remain live for many more years, and I can't promise we will never try this out, but for the foreseeable future we are focused on the Paragon Market being stocked with a variety of ways to augment, improve, or add variety to your gameplay experience rather than the gameplay itself. In fact, we originally considered the potential of making the Signature Stories as paid content, but we felt in the end that it was better to continue to provide the core gameplay experience you always have enjoyed as part of your subscription.

As always, the Paragon Points that come with your VIP subscription serve to give you access to the Market items that best suit your own playstyle.
