Server downtime on 5 minutes notice?

Considering that some 10 minutes before the announcement I suddenly lost connection to the servers, I suspect a serious problem that does not bear waiting on.
I also expect several more of these surprise whoopsies between now and September as the team installs the new backend architecture for Freedom.

All i heard was that just freedom was down . . . . surely not a need to bring ALL servers down? 
thought you upgraded those servers today during that 6 hour downtime!

Not sure about Freedom, but Virtue exploded right before as well (all zones). Apparently once it came back up, WW was giving errors.
Since apparently two servers had already crashed, it definitely warrants emergency maintenance.

Well that sucks, just about to hit our Primetime MOkeyes event for server to be given 5 minutes warning.
It is getting a bit to frequent that bang on primetime the servers get taken down.
Too many 50's to list here's a few you may know.
Slazenger, Area51, Area53, Area54, Erruption, Mind Plague, Thresher, Sheath, Broadside, Debt
color me surprised...

i realise that it is essential work but very frustrating if in the middle of a TF/SF when you get 5 mins notice........
hopefully fixed soon,
