Server downtime on 5 minutes notice?

A couple of years ago, there was an amusing mapserver problem that rolled back any progress you'd made before you crashed - it was left live for a few hours before the servers were brought down to fix it - it made quite a few people weep

Unless the 'exploit' was a 'crash the server cluster' kind, probably not. And, for that, I'd imagine we'd not have 5 minutes (I kinda recall ones in the past where someone found some nasty bug and we didn't even get the 5 minute warning because it spread like wild fire).

I've been having problems where it dumps me to the log in screen for a couple of weeks now. I've seen messages from others so I know at least a few other people have been having the same problem. Mayhaps it is this that has caused the maintenance. I apologise for interrupting everyone's enjoyment but I really would like to be able to go from Atlas to Steel without having to log in five or six times.
