PVP is dead, the game is dying

I have to agree with the comment of needing to spend 1.5-2 bill. I am a returning player and anyone who knows anything will go after the chump with low hp. While teams are great, 2 psi/ems will chomp a 1100 hp player in 2 before they even have a chance to hit phase or hibernoob. I also doubt anyone that knows how to easily farm up 15 bill is unskilled at pvp minus people who will pay farmers of course.

Except you can easily cap your HP on the cheap side, with accolades of course.

True but you assume alot thinking that a nub is going to know how to maximize a mids build on the cheap or not.

It takes 2 secconds to click info on someone, look at their powers/set bonuses and have a VERY good idea on how skilled they are.

LOL ok. I am pretty sure farming is primarily a strength of the PvE community.. most of them are not highly skilled PvPers.


As far as a cheap and effective build... Psy/Em for 500 mil and some IOs from playing the game (merit rewards, Hami Os) puts me at HP cap and ED enhanced powers plus phase ready to use every 2 minutes.. The only thing that build is missing is damage procs. It does not take a lot of Inf to make an effective build. That 10-15 bil you are talking about takes you from 90% to 98%. hardly a big deal when most of your effectiveness comes from playing properly....

Consider your words marked, though I don't really see the point in marking them. You, or others, will likely continue to post how the bell of death shall be tolling for CoX if PvP isn't fixed "soon"(tm). There have been players who have been saying it long before now. Long before Going Rogue. Even with PvP was first introduced, there were people declaring that it needed to be "fixed" ASAP if we wanted to save the game from certain destruction.

Many of those same people continue to repeat the same thing, years later. They are still here, still spending money every month to maintain their subscriptions, even if is for no other reason than to allow them to continue to warn us of the pending doom.

Look, whether you believe me or not, there are actually people who play MMOs that don't really care about PvP. That don't care if the PvP system is great or the worst PvP system in the history of PvP. In fact, they don't care if PvP even exists. They just wanna play the game.

Yes, there are MMOs that are very centered around PvP content that are very successful. This does not mean that every MMO on the market needs to fit into that mold. In fact, not trying to follow everyone else's example all the time is what makes someone a leader, rather than a follower.

I pvp regularly on Freedom.

Not counting AFK farmers, or Shivan and Nuke collectors, or the occasional
S/VG trying to grab badges (as quietly as possible) here's how it IS in zone.

BB & WB -- Crickets...

SC - About 2 dozen regulars -- since that is the zone I prefer, I can probably
name nearly all of them...

RV - A hundred or so (altogether) - I don't know most of them, but I see the same
Globals whenever I am in there...

That is ON the "so-called" PvP Server...

Call it a couple hundred more on Virtue, Infinity and that's the bulk of your
*actual* player base.

Yes, a lot of people have left due to PvP - especially 2.0 and the events
surrounding Lighthouse's departure.

That said, Far More left after ED than even existed in the PvP community
during its heyday.

I'll wager that more people move to a different game, simply for a change in
pace, or because it's "teh new shiny" each quarter than the sum total of the
existing PvP community.

...and through it all, the game has remained relatively population stable at around
100K subscribers... For *seven* years.

To say that the Doom Claims are grossly overstated is roughly equivalent to
calling a light drizzle the next Great Flood...

As for my in-zone estimates, those are by direct observation, and extensive
use of /playernotes. As a Stalker, oddly enough, I actually note Global names,
and Player builds... Go Figure.

That all said, since you Malkore, are the one making the idiotic Doom claims,
where are *your* numbers?

Specifically the ones that show:

A> The existing PvP community is actually a statistically relevant segment of the
current playerbase (ie. > 1-2%), or heck, even that there's more than the few
hundred people I'm estimating in that community.

B> the existing PvP community as any effect on the rest of the game right now.

C> If PvP isn't fixed, and the entire PvP community left, how it would have *any*
significant effect on the rest of the game then.


In short, you can think whatever you want about me, but that doesn't lessen
the simple fact that your Doom claims are at best, very dubious, but far liklier,
just idiotic BS...

What was the name of the stalker?

I only read the 2009 link but it explains the number given is very likely inflated. And that was 2 years ago, so I'm at a loss for how you're claiming that cox has maintained a base of around 100k subscribers for 7 years.

I was honestly just curious about the estimate. I'm not relating it to any doom claim.

I play pretty much exclusively redside. I do pop into SC occasionally and I don't remember any real standout katana stalkers playing there (katana?). The fact that you won't even name the toon does nothing to raise my expectations either lol.

I'm too busy RPing in Pocket D on Virtue lately since my toon slots on Freedom are full at the moment. But I've seen and talked to 4s Katana Stalker in SC in the past...kind of hard to miss him since he's the only Katana Stalker I've ever seen. He was always redside prior to GR so if you were red as well...probably just never noticed him.

Yeah that's me, although with arena picking up lately I stripped San and put the IOs in my blaster. I might've noticed that stalker at some point but I don't pay too much attention to stalker builds unless its someone I fight frequently, which is why I asked him the name.
