So, I was thinking we should put "The Church of TD" somewhere in the "For Fun" section? MTD can be his prophet (....prophet of awesome!).

Now the server receives a ton of these requests and uses the inspiration in the slot, but before the client notices it, it sends another request to use the inspiration to the server with the same slot number, the server has now moved another inspiration into that slot and then uses that.

But at low levels they do indeed have the highest damage cap.
Can't work with Claws for this example since they have different recharge values and different base damage as a result.

I already brought this up in a previous post, but I'll just repeat it here:
Take Dual Blades:
Typhoon's Edge
Brute: 10.83 dmg, resulting in: 10.83 * 7.75 = 83,93 dmg
Scrapper: 11.68 dmg, resulting in: 11.68 *2.1 = 24,53 dmg

As you can see at these levels Brutes have a LOT more damage than a scrapper, even at slightly lower damage levels they will out damage scrappers, this will continue until higher levels where the modifiers stops being inflated.

Even with just Fury at level 1 a Brute will out damage a scrapper at damage cap.
Brute: 10.83 dmg, resulting in: 10.83 * 2.6 = 28,16 dmg
Scrapper: 11.68 dmg, resulting in: 11.68 *2.1 = 24,53 dmg
You're right, of course, but I should have been clearer. I mostly meant that statement towards level 50 brute farmers as opposed to the low levels mentioned in this guide. I have even been told to my face (in the game) that brutes out damage scrappers at level 50 because "they can get to 775%". That portion of my post was merely to illustrate the point that the reason brutes are used at high levels isn't a function of brutes, but of the SS/Fire combination, and that scrappers could be simpler to use (we'll have to see how the new powersets work out) because it takes less effort (read: reds) to get to their damage cap.

I compare actual powers. Not what people "think" or "figure up in mids". Take 2 of the same powers. Say FSC. At level 50, hit a mob with that attack as a Brute, then as a scrapper. 100 bucks says the scrapper does more damage to the mob. Same goes for Shield Charge and, more than likely, Lightning Rod ( i havent personally tested that one like i have the other ones). No matter what the Fury bars give Brutes, they still don't have the Brute (pardon the pun) strength of a scrapper. But that's not really related to this thread.

As far as this farm goes, once you understand how to level in it, it works nicely.

Sorry for not posting much, I've actually been on vacation. I didn't want to post this guide shortly before Double XP weekend, as it relies on AE and you don't get Double XP in AE. So I had to post it shortly before I left, knowing that I wouldn't be able to play much. I've got CoH working on Mrs. TD's laptop with the NCSoft Launcher, but I have't actually logged in for nearly a week.

Glad to see eryq2 and others are having success. I'll check out Diesel Punk's suggestions and maybe update the arc. I'll also check out some of the macro suggestions. And I'll try to address all of the other questions and comments in a few days.

I get the same unexpected Inspiration usage that other people have reported because I mash macro buttons so quickly, so perhaps that helps me stay alive. It may also be because of my higher kill speed in general. I experimented with alternating leveling up characters on Liberty and Victory, so Hasten was always up (which increases kill speed). And I tried taking a break between every mission to do something around the house a few times working on my Zukunft Brute. And I ALWAYS start a SG and get the Increase Attack Speed empowerment buff ASAP.

By the way, have people been making personal SGs for this? I have, but I haven't bothered specializing because I already have a lot of Salvage and Enhancement storage bases.

Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.

Well here's my level 50 Claws/Elec Armor build, designed for use with my Energy-damage ambush farm (506582). I modified the farm a bit so that the enemies use Electrical Melee as their primary rather than Energy Melee, as the damage is slightly lower and Electric Armor has built-in End Drain resistance. The point of this build is to cap your energy resistance and get you within one small purp of softcapped energy defense.

As you'll be fighting energy-dealing enemies, you'll easily be able to farm +4x8 with bosses with no difficulties, meaning you can use this for PLing and inf farming as well as ticket farming. If you're PLing, take a full tray of reds in with you, pop veng off the dead guy on the floor, and start firing your AoEs off. With T4 Spiritual you'll be perma-hasten, and with Ageless +Rech you'll also be Perma-Energize.

I'll be picking up some tep powers, like the taser and grenades, to see if that will help my damage output. Overall a very effective way to level up and get mad tickets/inf.

Thanks TopDoc.
A little update on my progress. Last night I upped the difficulty to +1/x8 and picked up Hand Grenades and Phasmatic Taser. I went from 35-37 in two runs I believe (I was about 40% done with level 35). The temp powers really helped my SS/ELA Brute due to the lack of low level AoE power like Spin.

So, if any of you out there are not claws/ then I suggest the temp powers. They both provide good damage and Knockback. I usually target mobs that are outside my immediate aggro if I'm not low on life or defense. It does help IMO. The temp powers lasted only two runs though for me. I probably can squeeze 3 runs out of them but they are so damn fun to use.

The temp powers are cheap and so are the salvage pieces to construct them. There is an opportunity cost for having to stop, buy them and craft them. I usually do this when I'm dropping items off at the market after trading in my tickets.

I have on the two servers I've tried this on. The empowerment buff really helps and is well worth it IMO.

I also make sure to keep a Secondary Mutation up at all times. Most of them are worthless, but one of them is a 30% recharge boost. Add that to the empowerment buff and Hasten and it's good times.

At 50 Scrappers do more damage in nearly all regular gaming. Brutes do more damage at their cap than scrappers do at their cap, but only by a small amount (e.g. lightning field from electric armor ticks for 34 on a brute and 33 on a scrapper iirc.) Lightning Rod and Shield Charge are psuedo pets and have their own damage cap at 400% and are vastly superior on Scrappers.

FINAL UPDATE- I hit 50 this morning, after running Top Doc's storyarc 18 times at +1/x8 on my Claws/Elec Brute. 14 hours of game time for this alt.

Great fun! Plus, I have 260 million in the bank and IOs for sale worth another 49 million.

Here's a valuable tip: DON'T forget to change your settings from +1/x8 back to +1/x1 (or whatever you're used to running )before starting a "regular" mission in the game! Talk about a rude awakening.

Now I'm getting used to playing the character "properly" and learning to manage his END issues. I'm thinking of going with Scirocco's Mu Mastery powers for theme.

Please try my arcs:

Arc# 63910 "Why Do Bad Girls Like Bad Boys?" (length=Long, levels 40+)
Arc# 401500 "How to Be a Successful Professional Criminal" (length=Very Long, levels 1-10)

Do you have end issues even with Powersink? I havent gotten mine to 50 to see the recharge on it but was hoping it would cure all end issues.

Power Sink is definitely a BIG help. I've got Power Sink and Energize next to each other and I use them in tandem a lot.

I was so used to running this character "run and gun" style from the AE arc that I forgot that that's not the optimal way to run a Brute all the time. I had some big END problems until I started to settle back into my more deliberate pace of steady damage (Brawl on auto) and steadily increasing fury. That said, I think as an Incarnate, I'll go with Cardiac.

Incidently, I hit 50 but only leveled up to 40 so far so I could do my Patron Arc missions and choose Electrifying Fences, Ball Lightning, and Summon Striker at 41, 44, and 47. They're a lot harder to complete than I remember! lol

This alt is definitely a keeper, though.

What you'd probably want to do is create the macros, plunk them up in Tray 3. Then bind your G keys to CTRL+(1 to 0) for whichever slot you drop them on.

I have a G510 and I think that's what I'm going to do.

My problem is right now I'm doing the "gobble them inspies people!" routine. I'm sure there's a more efficient route to go but the mission is so crazy once the ambush comes in that I'm just smacking keys like it's a combo-fighting game.

Actually I'm going to wait till after Double XP Weekend. Double XP doesn't work in AE, so I suspect a lot of people will be working on their non-AE oriented chars. I know I will. While I have a LOT of level 50 chars, I still have MANY powersets that I've never played.

Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.

I'd think they'd do what TopDoc suggested and probably kill insp on zoning, even if that was only IN the AE building as they can control stuff like that in locations. They prevent that kind of thing with confusion and entering/exiting pvp zones. So maybe they'd do something like that in AE if it was a big deal to them.
And then some could /auctionhouse inside the mission

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

One alternative to buying/popping lucks like mad is getting a good supply of the tier 3 lucks, emailing them to yourself, and using them one a time for your defense needs (I believe that a tier 3 luck will softcap you by itself). That way you don't have to worry about having enough drop for you, or having them clutter your inventory. On the downside, it means that you will have to multi-task and have your email open. Also, those are in limited numbers on the market and may cut into profits (if you try and rush-buy them they can get expensive).

On another note, what I'm now doing is turning off chat while farming and opening my salvage window in its place. This lets me keep track of tickets without taking up valuable screen space. I wish I could use combat attributes and set "salvage x" count as an attribute. That would be SO useful, and not just for tickets. It would also help for shards, threads, merits, etc.

Thanks TopDoc! This is awesome!

I've got 3 ticket farming toons - one at 50, one at 25, and one at 35. This is because 50 is good cash, 25 is where I frankenslot my "baby" toons (instead of SOs, my toons get a full set of random IOs) and 35 is where I start slotting their "grownup" build sets. So mostly, I farm for myself and my own use, with the excess sellable recipes in sets I don't use going on the AH for cash.

I've now converted the 25 and 35 to CEBRs I'm quite pleased with the whole process, and with double xp weekend now, I've got a good supply of nice, solid sets like Red Fortune, Reactive Armor, -KB IOs and the like to throw into my characters as they level! Woo hoo!

Posted

I want to thank you TopDoc you have < I would say single handedly but who knows> droped the price of rare salvage to 1/2 of what it was lol.

Now we just need the CEBR's to do yellow salvage and drop that too to hell with the marketeers .

Here's some common salvage I listed for 100 each.

Now I sure as hell didn't list these for 500K each.

Newsflash!: Using this to manipulate the prices on the market (up or down) makes YOU a marketeer TOO.
