    Self-PLing?

Is it still possible to grind to 50 in AE in reasonable time after all the nerfs? If so, what's the best way and how long on average does it take? Gave a boss farm a shot a couple of weeks ago (before i23) and it was painfully slow :-\
  2. Everything's falling apart, basically.

Union was first to go down, then Defiant, then Freedom, then global channels, then Infinity, etc.

As Manipulative Maiden said just before they died, "DOOOOOOOOOOOOOM".

To be honest I'm not sure if we'dve been successful without Gloom and Darkest Night in my build, because the -ToHit helped with survivability significantly, especially on the mothership itself when fighting U'Kon Gr'ai.
  4. The team UI bug is a recognized issue, and from what I could gather a pretty high priority one, and they've been looking for a fix ever since they broke it in the first place. However, considering how City of Heroes is MASSIVE project with millions of lines of code, likely in a combination of different languages, with both server and client sections, tracking down the EXACT issue which caused the problem takes time. The fix itself might take seconds to implement, but identifying the cause could take weeks.

I know that's not what people want to hear, but from my point of view the important thing is that it's a recognized issue and one that's being looked into, rather than simply being ignored as a minor inconvenience.

    Thanks guys

I'm not sure about the others, but I was half-incarnated; level-shifted with T3 Alpha and T3 Interface (Reactive Radial), T3 Judgement (Pyronic)and T2 Destiny (Ageless), no lore pets though.

The others had Lore pets (Seers and I think Phantoms), one had Ageless and the other Barrier. Unsure about the other bits and bobs I'm afraid, although I'll ask once they've woken up (still need to sleep myself!)

Okay, so I don't post much on the forums (no Avatar or sig, even!), but after this I HAD to share it with someone, so here goes.

Tonight, on Union, three of us decided to kill Babbage for the fun of it, and after a pretty easy victory, started to wonder whether we could do a 3-man MSR.

So we did just that. Nearly ended in tears due to the pylons 30-minute respawn time, but after pulling out a couple of HVASes, we managed to catch up on the respawns, the shield came down, and we planted 3 bombs on the ship, spawning U'Kon Gr'ai. A pretty long battle with the GM ensued, with one of us three disconnecting when U'Kon was down to 5% HP, so the damage was down significantly and the last 5% took far longer than we'd expected, but we finally took him down.

The people involved were myself on Forge Companion (Elec/Fire Brute), @Ultimate' on Ultimate Regenetics (Kin/Regen Scrapper), and @D1v1n3Int3rv3nti0n on Power of Hell (DM/Fire Brute).

I also had my second account logged on to provide vengbait for the GM battle on the ship, but it took no part in the actual fight - couldn'tve kept it alive long enough even if I'd wanted to!

Only managed to get two hastily-grabbed screenies once the chaos had died down unfortunately, but we may do this again some time and put it up on YouTube, once we've recovered mentally from the stress of tonight :P

Anyway, I don't know if this has been done before, but we were all pretty proud regardless
  7. Unfortunately the slopes seem to be bugged; times are only being recorded in .5s increments, rather than the .01 they were before

Well here's my level 50 Claws/Elec Armor build, designed for use with my Energy-damage ambush farm (506582). I modified the farm a bit so that the enemies use Electrical Melee as their primary rather than Energy Melee, as the damage is slightly lower and Electric Armor has built-in End Drain resistance. The point of this build is to cap your energy resistance and get you within one small purp of softcapped energy defense.

As you'll be fighting energy-dealing enemies, you'll easily be able to farm +4x8 with bosses with no difficulties, meaning you can use this for PLing and inf farming as well as ticket farming. If you're PLing, take a full tray of reds in with you, pop veng off the dead guy on the floor, and start firing your AoEs off. With T4 Spiritual you'll be perma-hasten, and with Ageless +Rech you'll also be Perma-Energize.

  9. I've been encouraged by someone on the latest stress test to put a few of mine up here, so here's my first contribution.

My Elec/SD Scrapper just chilling out during a Keyes trial.

And playing with this lovely cube I found under Atlas' statue.

My main's first visit to the Well of the Furies.

    And after entering the Well...

Meditating, soaking power, generally being awesome with wings and shiny armor and stuffs.

    Thank god for that

And thanks for addressing that concern, I'll pass the word around

Everything that anyone else has said is out there and has been verified by some redname, be it on the forums, through Facebook Fridays, Ustream chats or face-to-face conversations at Comic Con.

Between not looking it up yourself and ignoring those who answer your questions with phrases like "with all due respect" just shows that you lack respect for them at all and that you aren't worth the time it takes to answer your questions.

So congratulations, you don't have to worry about me answering your questions instead of a redname anymore.
Except I'm not asking whether or not they'll have to be purchased in the Paragon Store; I already know that, as I've already read that thread in its entirety, and watched all of the UStreams.

The point which HASN'T been clarified - by anyone affiliated with NCsoft or Paragon Studios - is whether or not they will only be purchasable by those who have unlocked T9 rewards, which would essentially mean that a new subscriber would have to pay $500+ in order to gain access to the powersets.
  13. With all due respect, all of these responses are purely speculation; I'm looking for redname clarification on this issue lol.
  14. Well I asked - TWICE - about whether or not the new powersets (excluding time manipulation) would be restricted to those with T9 only, and no answer, so that pretty much confirms it as far as I'm concerned.

    Very disappointing.
  15. Well they did say exclusive new powers.

What infuriates me even more, is that if I was allowed to merge the veteran rewards I've had on the various accounts I've had over the years, I'd be tier 7 rather than tier 3.
  16. Right, so I now have to pay $360 in order to unlock Tier 9 and use new powersets when they're added to the game... brilliant.

    Thanks a bunch.
  17. It seems as if the developers either a) haven't been reading bug reports, or b) don't consider it a major issue, as the problem with running consecutive AE missions (currently on a taskforce) isn't listed here... yes, there's a workaround, but it's still a bug...
  18. The difficulty is, the extras you get with booster packs aren't game-changing in that they affect your ability to stay competitive with other players. I'm not a PvPer, but if I was, I would be absolutely horrified now; the thought that other - richer - players will have the ability to simply buy extra, potentially better powersets, which would give them a tactical advantage over them is appalling. As it stands, everyone who pays the subscription to CoH has a level playing field, same powersets, same selection of IOs, same combat attributes, etc...

There's a very good reason why you're not allowed to simply buy Influence with real-world money, and its to prevent people from simply buying their way into superiority in the game; I'm very, very concerned about the possibility of Freedom changing that for the worse.

In Freedom, you can buy them with cash, or you can buy them with points if you have any stocked up from the free allotment you get as part of your subscription. In all respects this is a better deal than what we have now.
How is that better than what we have now? Now, ALL powersets are free to paying customers... how is it fair if some are restricted to those who can stump up the extra cash on top of their monthly fees? :-\
  20. Can someone clarify this for me, because this has really infuriated me - if I've read it correctly.

VIP players will have to pay / trade in Paragon Points to unlock new powersets when they're made available? This isn't just for free/premium players?
  21. I've been having the AE issue as well, but you DON'T have to reform the team completely. Pass the star to another player and have them pass it back, then you can reselect the mish. Or, leave someone dead in the mission, click the contact to yank them out, and then reselect the mish while they're zoning, works every time.
  22. My Praetorian surge story started on Monday; I rolled a toon called "Flambeaux?" (Rogues Gallery), with the intention of getting her to 50 before Friday and taking part in the event. After two sessions of at least 36 hours of continuous play, I hit 50, slotted up, then finally got some well-needed sleep.

Unfortunately, the stress caught up with me and I got a virus, leading to me vomiting the whole of Friday away. I finally managed to crawl out of bed for an hour at midnight, where I joined the 20+ Unionites (BAF sometime, anyone?) on the steps of Atlas Park 1. I had intended to stay for the entire event, but the slideslow lag unfortunately didn't help the nausea, and I ended up dropping after about an hour; I'd just like to say congrats to the rest of my team, who were the last 7 people remaining in the league after I left.

I'd also like to thank everyone who pointed out that nobody loves Flambeaux; it may be harsh, but it's definitely true.
