Self-PLing?

Is it still possible to grind to 50 in AE in reasonable time after all the nerfs? If so, what's the best way and how long on average does it take? Gave a boss farm a shot a couple of weeks ago (before i23) and it was painfully slow :-\

Check the AE for farm missions. If the date is more than, say, 4 months old... Then it may not be an acceptable up to date farm. Experiment, find or create your own farm mission. Check the Mission Architect forum for pointers.

The answer is subjective depending on what "reasonable time" means. Certainly not as quickly as has been done in the past with the boss farms & fire farms pre-marty-era.

As is clearly enumerated in Deuteronomy 22:31, autoagricolio is a sin. Ask yourself why you feel this temptation, and what you can do to overcome it.

Create your own.

Large map, enemy group that is easy for you to defeat, set your difficulty high, and go to town.

That's what I do on the rare occasions I feel like PLing something. Most recently it was to get my wife's controller past level 30 so she could run Manticore with me, then I said "Screw it" and got her Imps for her. 28-34 in about 2 hours, which is reasonably fast, without being so fast that Marty kicks in.

That sounds more like simple grinding than "pling" though. And for some reason, the word "pling" always reads like a sound effect to me.

I don't think so. By definition, "grind" is a word used by people who resent doing what's required to earn the exp. I submit that anyone who considers himself to be "grinding" will not find the time spent "reasonable."

I've reverted back to the old troll caves and just putting in S/L damaging enemies on my AE farm and having a non-damaging ally running around behind me. People have seemingly forgotton that you can still have one combat ally and not suffer a penalty to the rewards so long as you only choose non-damaging powers. For me I've gone Ill/cold, illusion just for some occasional AoE stuns and fear, cold because you get wicked ice shields and just about all the debuffs in that set don't deal damage.

Now you can just bump up the difficulty past what you could normaly do soloing and hey you'r earning some decent xp. This mish works particularly well on my Masterminds since they all get ice shielded also.
