As much as I like the music in AP... change is good. I honestly see an update across CoH as a hugely good thing. There is no need to keep everything the same for years on end just because of some sort of nostalgia or "because it's always been that way." This is the same feeling I have re: the update of Galaxy and its (near) inaccesability post i21.
A lot of the music, damn near all of it actually, is just generic, easily forgettable techno. It really needs an update to make it interesting and better invoke emotions upon entering certain areas.
The only problem I would have is that CoH does have a sort of theme music with the Atlas Plaza theme, but by the sounds of that link they're keeping it and updating it, so s'all good.

I believe there has long been "override" directories that can be used to replace certain assets, songs and sounds. This has been used in the past by folks with issues with looping sounds or the folks at Vidiot Maps, etc. If one is truly nostalgic enough they could use those to replace the new songs with old.

There's music in this game??? Turned it OFF on day one 7 years ago and never listened to a note of it since then. They can change it all they want and I'll never know the difference.
They played it over ustream last... wednesday I think? I don't know if they played the whole thing, but what I heard sounded true to the original. I don't think they would dare remove the iconic theme there, it was just longer and transitioned into (or maybe from) some strings.

New computer didn't have it turned off and I've enjoyed all of the new stuff in praetoria, for example.

If you want AP music, try this, this is my version of the Atlas music. Incidentally, I posted this on the forums the same day that Zwillinger debuted the I21 Atlas music. The similarities between the two tracks blew my mind.

The avatar creation music also seems to be getting a full replacement, going by the awesomely epic music they've been using oin UStream recently.

Although the AP music is a nostalgic memory that will always be attached (for me anyway) with this game, I find it truly hilarious that the devs consider changing the bloody music (that no one wants changed anyway) important, while other parts of the game are completely broke i,e PvP.
Priorities=bad.
