PC Gamer shows the love

The new issue of PC Gamer (September issue, "Bioshock Infinite" cover) has a lengthy piece on City of Heroes, spotlighting the new endgame raids and the upcoming Freedom changes. It's mostly stuff we already know, but there's a sidebar about the in-game store that I believe has some items we haven't seen before: A "Rocket Board" (sort of a flying skateboard), Circle of Thorns costume pieces, "Gunslinger" costume pieces (the picture shows a female in a sort of "saloon girl" outfit, with a big ribbon in her hair, a striped corset, and some kind of fancy belt...holsters, maybe?), and some of the Titan Weapons (a magic-looking staff, a fancy sword, and a spiked club, plus the railroad sign we've already seen).

They also have a section spotlighting some of the player-made AE arcs:

111022 - Doctor Geist and the Scientific Method
375018 - A Hero in Need...is a Friend Indeed!
337333 - Captain Skylark Shadowfancy and the Tomorrownauts of Today!
398110 - By Any Other Name
404549 - The Do-It-Yourself Casino Heist Project
(Congrats to the players who's work got featured!)

It's not a total puff-piece -- the section on the Incarnate raids mentions the problems with lag and crashes, and the confusing rewards system -- but overall it's very positive.

Going to have to hunt down this issue, then again maybe the CoH team can release the pics since the news has been released.

I did mistype...it's actually the September issue. I guess subscribers get it before the stores do.

This is great to see, I've played almost all of these arcs and they are very good. I even made a trailer for Hero in Need.

I can see how you got their but.... dammit your right?

...

I'll finish this post and then go commit seppuku.

Basicallywhat I was going to say was that the boosters only contained items that were posalbe with the current engine and not things we had been told were "imposable".

However the Steampunk pack had backpacks in it and blows that theory out of the water. It is just... disappointing that the only way this game can support it self is by locking all the "good" stuff behind some kind of barrier. Be that Going Rouge, Money, or a Loyalty Program.

But its mostly the money that bothers me the most when they set a precedent for giving us free stuff. and then used the faith that they bulit up with the free stuff to get us to buy the new "good" stuff.

AlrightI'm done talking to myself now where did I put my katana...

FYI posting magazine scans on most other game forums is against the rules. I have not read the forum rules in the entierity but even if its not in their I would PM a mod and ask for permission before posting any scans.

Think about it, the magazine got an exclusive they want that to entice people to buy it. If its made freely available to the very audience that wants that info then they don't get their money.

Penetrating the bureaucracy indeed.

Ironic then that the Mass Effect scans were up within minuets.

Also indicative of just how few people really play this game in comparison.

The CoT have decided to change their entire wardrobe into bikinis. Even the summoned demons and lingering spirits are now required to wear them.

"In other news today, the Circle of Thorns have just become the single most powerful group in history as they defeated the entire Praetorian army alone. We asked a prominant member of the group for comment."

"Mr. Death Mage, can I call you Mage? So how is it the CoT were able to gain enough power to knock out every hero in the city as well as the Praetorians? Magic spell, new charm you found? Demonic assist? The World must know!"

"Well Kent it was shockingly simple actually. I'm sure you are familiar with our standard uniforms? Well, last week one of our initiates was goofing off and used a simple spell that tramsformed all our uniforms into bathing suits. What started as a laugh became much more when Oranbega was attacked by a group of Heroes. Upon seeing the various demons dressed in drag with tiny bikinis the Heroes froze in place, Using all the strength they had not to laugh. When I turned the corner in my shiny blue speedo well... Lets say not even the stongest among them could hold back the tears and laughter. Seeing this as an oppurntunity we changed the group uniform and began our conquest!
Apparently seeing full grown mystics in skimpy outfits is so hilarious no superpower in the universe can resist laughing or being immoblized with horror. I tell ya, best dang mez we've ever discovered!"
